Took my xc90 in to diagnose a sound coming from right front axle and my transmission is flaring badly and slamming into gear. I did my research and It is a common issue with theses transmissions which almost always leads to a replacement. They found no issue with the front right "sound" and told me tranny was fixed with a software update. What luck i thought! There is nothing wrong with my car! Until i got 2 miles down the road. Transmission started banging and slipping and the noise was back in the right front. So I called them and told them what happened and they sad to bring it back in for another "diagnosis". I asked if it was for free because their first attempt was a total misdiagosis. The guy pretty much laughed in my face. I said no thanks. I wasnt going to let them nickel and dime me until they come to the obvious conclusion of tranny replacement. He explained that they start with the cheapest repair first and go from there. He actually used an Iphone software update as an example. I should have asked if he would have tried fixing a broken iphone screen with a software update.( at least iPhone updates are free) hind sight is 20/20. So I just flushed a bunch of money down the toilet for a useless software update. Thanks a lot Volvo. I guess most of the clientele that go here have money to blow. I do not.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to be towed in to Portland Volvo on a Sunday after my XC90 broke down on the ME Tpke. The next morning, Bryan (service advisor) called me first thing in the morning and his shop got to work on the vehicle right away. A second call from him warned me of additional potential damage that the vehicle may have sustained under the hood. After researching the issue on several Volvo online forums, I was potentially looking at a costly and difficult repair (that is not easily handled by most technicians). Bryan kept me apprised throughout the day of their progress, and thankfully his longtime tech (Steve) was able to work with my original, expensive part. This saved me time, a ton of money, and stress. I continued my road trip at the end of the day and the car ran very smoothly. The Portland Volvo service department was honest, fair, upfront, and highly skilled with this type of major repair. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to shop. A+

On Friday at 5:30 I realized my Volvo XC70 was two months out of inspection - my go to dealership was booked solid, so I frantically began calling dealerships in the greater Portland area close to my home in Falmouth. After a handful of calls to several other local dealerships I began to get discouraged. I called Portland Volvo expecting little, but I got a lot. The receptionist greeted me with what sounded like a big smile, and the service manager, Joel Hall, was extraordinary! He was helpful, kind, considerate, funny and straight to the point. The Service Team didnt try to sell me on things, or tell me I needed XYZ to pass inspection. When I went to pick up my car Joel gave me his card and told me if I had any questions or concerns about the way my Volvo was driving or acting to give him a call at any time. Joel Hall went out of his way to gain my trust, which he succeeded at, and has now earned my business.

I just purchased my third Volvo from Portland Volvo and continue to be a satisfied and returning customer. Everyone Ive ever dealt with at Portland Volvo, from Sales to Service to any of the supportive roles, has always proven themselves to be to warm, professional, and customer-service-focused. The Sales staff has always treated me with patience and respect regarding my questions, circumstances, and decision-making process. Never once in my 12 years with Portland Volvo have I felt pressured. My experience with the Service Department is consistently knowledgeable, prompt, and thorough. I have complete confidence in the staff when any service is done and have never had to return for the same service issue. They truly go the extra mile to care for their customers. I recently purchased a 2012 VW Gli Autobahn from Colin at Portland Volvo and the entire experience was heads and shoulders above every other car dealership I visited while searching for a car. I had spoken to Colin about what I was looking for in a car and less than a week later he called me and told me that he had a car on the lot that hadnt even been listed yet and that I should come take a look. It ended up being exactly what I was looking for an Colin managed to get me the best price around (solidly in the middle of the Kelley Blue Book value, and about $2000 dollars less than the local VW dealerships wanted for an identical car with more miles) You dont get this level of excellence anywhere else in southern Maine. Portland Volvo is true class.

OMG,OMG Run, brought my saab in for inspection.we knew it possibly needed front brakes. met with weekend manager to go over lengthy sheet of needs to discuss price of 2000.00 of repair list. He was so rude and wasnt willing to listen or discuss issues. he raised his voice about the law on inspection,and i said we just want to talk price not law. They had done the maintenence on this vehicle. Very rude ,abusive tone. We went to other saab mechanic and they had done front brakes and other small repair for a quarter of the price and our car is safe and inspected. Never will i let anyone i know go to Portland Volvo not even for an oil change,they cannot even do the math correctly on the oil change sticker. Run Run Run

Michael patiently explained all the options, features and packages to my wife Deborah and me, making the process seamless and very exciting. I had a very pleasant experience at Portland Volvo recently. My salesperson Yelena Smirnova was outstanding. She provided excellent customer service. In fact all staff at Portland Volvo I have encounter that date was very welcoming, knowledgeable and going extra mile to satisfy needs of every person who walked in. I also want to mention General Manager Curt and Finance Manager Jason. Both went above and beyond to help me get a car I really wanted. Overall, this was no hassle, no stress, and no pressure experience. I would strongly recommended Portland Volvo to anyone who is looking to buy /lease new or used cars and surely will be back to Portland Volvo in near future.

We bought our first Volvo S80 with Ralph DAngelo, my husband was away on business and saw the car online. Ralph took us out for a test drive. He showed us all the car had to offer. We went back a year later and bought another volvo XC-70 through Ralph. Every time we walk into Portland Volvo we are welcomed with a smile from Ralph, and everyone else there! The service team is amazing, if I need a loaner they always make sure Im taken care of. Jason in finance is great too. What a great experience!
