I would not recommend Hampden Auto Center to anybody looking to buy a car. Last year for my birthday my parents bought me a 2004 Audi A4 from Hampden Auto Center for approximately $7,000 (April 24th, 2015). This car began to fall apart and have serious problems quickly. The car began leaking oil and coolant everywhere it went. It soon began to shake when I was driving it, and excessively when it was idling. As a seventeen year old I was afraid to drive it. Was it going to stall out? Was I going to get stuck in the middle of nowhere? We brought the car back to Hampden Auto Center and asked them what was going on? We just bought this car. Yes it was used, but when we bought it they claimed it was in excellent condition. Within a few days they called and claimed the car was ready. My mom and I went in to pick it up and it was not fixed. The car still shook like crazy, and there was still both oil and coolant stains being left wherever the car was parked. Then it began to stall out when it was idling. My dad called and asked them why this was going on because we just bought the car and just brought it in to be fixed. They told him that the car was “perfect for me” and they would not fix the car for any less than $3800. In September I was making a left hand turn across on-coming traffic, the car would not move. I was stuck with cars coming at me. I was terrified, the car would to move. I pressed the pedal to the floor and it finally got enough power to get me to the parking lot. I called my mom, she came to switch out cars because it was clearly not safe for me to be driving. We took the car in to be fixed by another company because we no longer trusted Hampden Auto Center. $2500 later the stalling, shaking, and both the oil and coolant leaks have stopped. Or at least the leaking stopped going onto the ground. The oil was however still excessively being leaked through the exhaust due to the turbo. This creates a bright blueish-white smoke. We are now told that we have to replace the turbo. The cost for such a project is roughly between $3,500-$7,500 depending on if we buy used or new parts. One of my worst experiences with this was on the way home from a school function. I told my mom who was also attending what was happening and she told me to keep an eye on it on my way home. As I was leaving my “minimum oil light” came on. Which I had never had. I called my mom who was ahead of me on her way home and she told me to pull over and check the oil because if it ran out it could seize the motor. I pulled over the first chance I got and checked my oil. The dipstick was bone dry. I never got a warning light. Just the minimum light. The car continues to go through oil left and right.

Never, I repeat NEVER buy a vehicle from here, if I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible experience, terrible ownership, and incompetent mechanics. They either dont know how to fix cars, or they simply dont care if they sell their customers deficient cars. Thankfully we bought a warranty through our bank, but I am so disappointed in this local business. Stereotypical used car dealership, with no motive but greed. The first truck my husband bought had so many things that shouldnt have even passed inspection, that the dealer took the truck back and offered us a different one. We were happy about this, and thought they were reasonable and it restored some of our trust in them. A few days later into owning the second truck, the motor became loud and the check engine light came on. We took it to a mechanic, who informed us that several sensors were bad and that codes had simply been cleared (most likely in order to cover up a problem so that wed buy it). To top that off, the shocks are barely any good, the undercoating had been put on without mud being washed off so its all splotchy and ineffective. The list goes on. When we brought up the problems to the owner and the dealership in general, they refused to do ANYTHING without us paying for it, and the owners reason was "well, it is a used car." Oh, and as a little pet peeve that we didnt bother discussing with them, both trucks werent detailed AT ALL and were disgusting. Great job Hampden auto, hope youre proud.

If zero stars was an option, thats what theyd get. Great service, and theyre personable. Almost feel like youre getting a good deal.. second truck I got from them in one week of buying the first one, I have to replace the motor... $5600 later... they wouldnt replace or repair the issue even if it was within one week of owning the truck. They said "our warranty covers 50% of the cost"... well I guess you dont care about your reputation seeing how your reviews are terrible.. youve lost ALL my business and anyone who looks at our reviews.. for

Great selection of foreign vehicles. Staff are super nice and easy to deal with. They also service all vehicles sold at Hampden Auto Center right there at Rawcliffs Service Center.
