They are more than a used car dealer.... I just moved to Maine and took my 15 year old car to Portland Motor Sales for my first Maine sticker. I had an air bag light on so knew it would fail, but didnt know why. The staff at the repair shop took time to explain exactly why my car failed and provided an estimate (their hourly rates are very reasonable). While I always hate to spend money on things like air bag lights, i decided safety is probably a good thing. They priced out the parts to fix it (cheaper than I could get after-market) and we scheduled a date to fix the problem. The owner called the day before the the appointment to confirm (nice customer service). The day of the repair, they gave me a ride back to town (really appreciated - it was cold out). The repair was more complicated than expected but the owner honored the original quote. Kudos to an honest auto repair shop. Highly recommended!!

My BMW had had a warning light on for a long while which the car computer said was a loss of pressure in the emission system. The problem wasnt found on a couple visits (including one to the dealer) and I was told to be sure to tighten the gas cap down. Finally, PMS put a smoke system on it and after a little wait the smoke made its way out of a leak in a tube in the emission system. Diagnosis? Critter damage. I saw the picture showing where the $%^& mice had chewed quite a chunk out it. Needless to say Im very happy that John & crew figured this out!! Thank you! (And I no longer live at the house with the mice....)

all i got to say this am i brought my car over to chips on short notice and becky said she couldnt fit me in until next week, but said go across the street to see jason (her husband & owner of portland motor sales & chips). jason said leave my car and it can possibly be ready by 1015 a.m. (thats when i need to go to work). im not to keen on the price, but you cant ask for better service and they do great work. thanks becky/jason
