DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING ON THE DRESS AFTER THE SEAMSTRESS HAS TOUCHED IT. Overall, I had a good experience with Southern Bridal - found my dress off the rack for a good (but still very expensive) price, and working with the staff was wonderful. It was too long and about a size too big and I decided to use their seamstress to get it altered. She did a great job with the hem, and where she took it in looked great except for a small section on my hip (Ill mention that later), but she took it in WAY too much. The reason I brought the dress was a for a very thin corset that allowed a "V" shaped back. It was flattering, I loved it, and after the alteration she could barely pin the flap under the ribbon for the corset! My skin and what little fat I have on my back was pushed up and cinched to back boobs!! I was frantic and the shop did a wonderful job of calming my nerves and insisted she could pull it back out - which she did by my next visit. I was relieved to have the back the way I wanted, but the front was still too big and the extra fabric was very noticeable. I asked if there was any possible way to pull in ONLY around my waist and hips, and just a TINY bit when she did. I happily picked up my dress shortly after and trusted that everything would be perfect before I traveled to another state for my wedding. Too say the least it wasnt perfect - it wasnt as bad as before but the corset still stretched across my back, no matter how tightly my poor bridesmaids pulled because they knew how much I wanted the corset to be thin. In the end, this also ruined the front due to all the folding of the fabric and I want to throw out about 80% of the pictures :( In addition, the stuffing she put in the top of the front of the dress was crooked, something I didnt think about in the shop because I didnt think anyone would see it - but it ended up very noticeable in pictures. As for problem near my hip, there was just a little fabric that bunched out and when I first brought it up with an employee, I was told that it was probably just ME. How can you tell a stressed out bride that the uneven lump on her hip was her own body??? It wasnt, and the seamstress did notice the extra fabric and tended to it. Overall, I wish I never got it taken in. Brides, if you were as busy as I was (grad school, working, AND wedding planning for an event that was 1000 miles away from where you live), lose that extra hour of sleep and try on the dress to make sure everything is perfect, and make time to get it fixed if it isnt. I am now happily married to the man of my dreams, but I feel like all the time and money I put into that dress was wasted now that Ive seen the pictures. This is a longer description that was needed and overall my experience wasnt bad, but I dont want any more brides to make the same mistake I did and feel the way I do now that the event is long over! You will have the pictures for the rest of your life! Always put on the dress after you get it altered with them!!

Im not the type of person who normally writes reviews but I was so disappointed with the service that I had it was necessary to caution anyone who goes to Southern Bridal in Mandeville. So here goes a list of my issues. #1) I had purchased my dress but never seemed to get a phone call stating that my dress came in. As a worried bride , of course I had to call instead and ask them (Which was over 3 months!!!!). Surprisingly my dress came in that day (should I even believe that?). #2) My dress was to be bustled for the reception. I requested for a french bustle and when I came to pick it up it turns out half my dress was PERMANENTLY bustled (which is what I did not request and even if it was permanently done why would you only do half?). #3) My next trip, which they were suppose to fix the bustle was another disaster. When I got there my dress was still messed up and the bustle wasnt fixed!!!!! Are you serious? My sister-in-law had to wait with me for over an hour for them to fix it. #4) I ordered a sash to wear with my dress. When I took my bridal pictures outside at the park there was a huge difference in color between the dress and the sash. I called them the following day to see if it could be returned because I never wore it and the original tags were still on it. Their answer on the phone was "the owner is on a trip in the bahamas now so you should call back in May" #5) Today is May 3. I called and spoke to the owner and asked to return the sash. She said I could not return it because I used it in my pictures and already wore it! If I would have used it, of course I would have kept it!!! I told her I never wore it and still had all of the original tags and all on it. I can only get store credit. NO BRIDE ... NOBODY SHOULD EVER GO THROUGH THE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD AT SOUTHERN BRIDAL. I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH THEIR SERVICE

I normally dont write reviews, but after what I went through, I felt I needed to. I do NOT recommend this place to any bride. The experience I had there was unreal, right down to the service and the fact that they ruined my wedding gown. The owner was rude and blamed me, and the dress company, for all of the shops mistakes. I was measured incorrectly to start with, thus resulting in the wrong size being ordered. The dress was too small when it came in, and after several failed alterations, the dress was ruined. The owner refused to give me a refund, and offered one of the used sample dresses off the rack (granted I paid a hefty price for a brand new gown Id never get), all of which have been well used. Save yourself the stress and go someplace else.

I went to Southern Bridal in search of "The Dress", and while I did try on many beautiful gowns, in the end, the one that I chose was not at this store. HOWEVER, I have nothing but good things to say about the place. It looked good, and the first thing that I noticed when I walked in the door is that it smells like a spa! So inviting! And I got excellent service. Heidi was very sweet and helped me try on a bunch of dresses. Even though the dress that I chose was by a designer that they did not carry, I had a very pleasant experience here and would highly recommend every bride in the area to at least check it out!

This is honestly the best place that I went! I tried another place in Covington, and was very disappointed in the dresses and the staff. I went shopping with my sister at a couple of places in New Orleans and was also disappointed in the dress selection. Southern Bridal isnt the largest dress store, but they definitely have the best dresses. And the staff was amazing! They were all so honest and helpful. And they remember me every time I walk in! I recommend this place to anyone!! Prices were also very reasonable.
