One star. If I could go less, I would. Heres why. I used to like this store. Sure sometimes I have issues finding things I need or getting questions answered when Im wandering about the store, but that doesnt bother me as much as I am bothered now. Specifically by a small group of people. The Geek Squad, or at least the majority of them. To start. Theres only literally one guy there that knows ANYTHING about computers. I cant recall his name, but hes like me. He likes to build his own computers. Hes my go to guy when I need a question answered and he does really well at that. But, Im here because I have learned that one of their specific employees at that counter likes to bash on customers to other employees and to his friends and family and whoever else he may talk to. I found this out because Im one of those people. Apparently this "kid" is talked smack about me to his girlfriend, saying that Im "a loser because of my age and the way I look and dress." Ive also noticed that he likes to talk about you ***WHILE HE IS AT WORK OVER THE RADIO TO THE OTHER EMPLOYESS***. The reason I have to believe this is because I was there about a week ago, and he looks over at me and my girlfriend from the other side of the counter with a smirk on his face, says something on the radio, and his ***MANAGER*** is standing close by where we were, laughs, and says "oh, thats mean," and does absolutely nothing about it. The only things I know about this kid is that his name is Matthew and hes about 5 4" with long black hair, usually in a ponytail, 16 or 17 years old, and has never once had a conversation with me (not even one word). The manager is female and I dont know her name. I will say this. As long as that kid works there, I will no longer be shopping at this Best Buy. If you shop there, hes probably talking about you. And the manager will probably laugh about it.

A month or two ago I moved to Johnston, Iowa during the move my brand new dryer leg broke off. Since I purchased the dryer from Best Buy I figured I could go to the best buy near my house and get the part. I first went to the 4100 University Ave Best Buy and was treated very poorly. They told me if I wanted the part I should order it from LG or go to Lowes and they can order me the part. I didnt understand it because I bought the dryer at Best Buy so they should be able to order me a new part. I even took my attention to one of the managers. I left that Best Buy outraged and upset. This is not the experience I get normally when going to Best Buy. Im a huge advocate of Best Buy because of the outstanding service and knowledgeable staff. So, I decided to try another Best Buy and give Best Buy one more chance. When I got to 6825 Mills Civic Pkwy Best Buy. I immediately asked to speak to a manager. I explained my situation to Shawn. He apologized for my pervious experience I had and said if there was a unit on the floor I can take that part. Unfortunately there was not but he told me he can order me the part and it could be at my house in two days! What astonished me most was he even paid for the part. Shawn really came though provided excellent service and deescalated the situation, to be honest I was so upset I didnt want to shop at another Best Buy and was about to boycott em because of the service perviously. He restored my faith in Best Buy. To this day I drive an extra 10 minutes there and back so I can shop at this Best Buy. I tell all my friends about how great Best Buy is, I even convinced a good friend to return his Dyson to Target and we are going tomorrow because Best Buy price matched Target and has better warranty plans.

DO NOT RESERVE PRODUCTS WITH THIS BEST BUY!!! I put $100 down on the first day we could to reserve two iPhones. We were told that the store would honor reservations before any other sales. We were also told that Best Buy has never had a lack of supply on any phone ever sold. We were told to expect a call to set up a time to come in on the product launch date to set up our phones. We went to the store the day before the product was to launch, and the sales manager said the store had not received phones and did not know how far down the reservation list the phones would reach. I called the next day to ask when I might receive a call on the order and was told that they did not know when they would get to the reservation list, so the sales manager could not commit to any particular time. Its my understanding that all the while this Best Buy was selling iPhones to floor customers. So basically, other people have iPhones and Im the proud owner of a "reservation." I have no idea when or if this store will ever honor my reservation or call me back. This is ridiculous. Im not really that upset that Im sitting here without the phone I ordered. I understand that demand can outpace supply at times. But, Im am very upset that the folks at this store dont know how to communicate with customers and make no effort to keep people updated on where things stand. I would rate this store zero stars if that were possible. Ill never shop there again. Its their loss. I spent thousands at that store last year. Never again.

If you want to buy a CD cheap, they have a wide selection and their prices are competitive loss-leaders. They carry shelves and shelves of lower mid-level equipment for the masses -- Pioneer, Sony, JVC, maybe a low-end Denon or Onkyo. The kids they employ (not the Geek Squad, just the Best Buy regulars) dont actually know anything but can bamboozle someone who hasnt done their homework first. If you know what you want and they carry it, their prices are average. Their return policy is so-so, and its a crap shoot whether what youre buying was returned before and has something missing or doesnt quite work right. Unless youre convinced you have to buy from a brick-and-mortar store or need to be talked into something by a kid who knows nothing, Best Buy is best avoided.

If you were to rate staff on their talents and dedication to being the absolute worst in their class I would give them 5 stars. Yet another example of horrible service tonight - tried to go in and listen to some bluetooth speakers before purchasing one but their display was not functioning. Within a minute I had a blue shirt standing next to me however when I asked for help he refused to even look at the display and stated that he was just "doing his job" walking around and...TRYING TO SELL DIRECT-TV SERVICE!!! When I asked if he could find someone who could help, he just shrugged his shoulders. Needless to say I left and will be purchasing from an online competitor. Brick and mortar stores are worthless if their displays and staffing are both broken.
