The staff at Beadology Iowa was amazing! I came in with a very specific request: recreating the necklace that is featured in the movie "Wild" based on the book of the same name by Cheryl Strayed. All I had was a picture of Reese Witherspoon wearing that necklace, which is identical to the one that the author had in real life. Long story short, the staff at Beadology assured they can do it, and corresponded with me via email multiple times. When I came in, the owner Karen was working and she proceeded to make the necklace for me on the spot. It turned out to be a great necklace! And the price was much lower than what I expected. Everyone, including the owner Karen, was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating! Aside from the great staff and owner, the store itself is pretty cool. They have tons of stuff and they also run all kinds of classes in different areas of arts and crafts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I called to find out about "WALOC" that Beadology is part of at the Johnson Fairgrounds, the person answering the phone doesnt have a clue and could only tell me to look at their website, she offered to look at it for me but could only give me the store address. It would be nice if they would include an address for the events so people could attend. Yes, I looked at the website where do you think I got the phone number from. Not all Iowans are brainless. Ive not visited the store but they didnt seem very knowledgeable on the phone.

My wife and I took a class on glass flameworking at Beadology this weekend. We had a lot of fun! The class was very well taught and the teacher was very specific with his comment. The staff were really helpful in answering my questions about products and equipment, they were also really friendly. The stock of beads and jewelry is quite large and very beautiful. They also have a significant amount of glass for working with soft glass and some borosilicates.

While this store has a wonderful selection of beads, the people who work there (the owners?) are very unfriendly. I have been in there several times, and they just glare at me - as if my coming into their store is an inconvenience to them. They are anything but welcoming, so even though I want to shop there, I cant take the way it makes me feel! Perhaps the positive reviews from others was before the store was sold to the new owners?

I recently travelled on business to Iowa City, IA. Before I left, I had researched local businesses I wanted to visit, Dawns Hide & Bead Away being one of them. I was thrilled to find a great bead store with lots of choices; beautifully organized (one of the most organized Ive visited anywhere); and very friendly customer service. Wish it was closer to home!
