Today my son and I had our first experience with 30th Century Bicycles. We are thrilled with Cody and Steve and will definitely be back. We had two bikes that we purchased elsewhere. We are not bike experts but my father-in-law is. He is battling cancer and cannot ride right now (were planning on riding together next year as we are optimistic that he will be in remission!), but he wanted to help us purchase and then tune up our the bikes. To make a long story short, that didnt work out well, and what was to be a good experience to build up his morale became a source of frustration and disappointment for everyone in the family. Enter Cody and Steve. Cody answered the phone and I asked if they could tune up our bikes. She said that because it was Saturday, they would likely be very busy and probably could not complete it that day. I explained our situation and that we were meeting my in-laws for Mothers Day the next day and even if we did not ride the bikes, having them finished would relieve a lot of stress. Cody said to stop by and shed see what they could do. Cody not only quickly tuned up both bikes but also explained to us each step of the way what she was doing and why. Then, when she was done, she test rode both bikes, which we thought was impressive since they were 61 cm frames and she had to stretch to reach the pedals. Then Cody made some fine adjustments and we were on our way. While Cody was working on the bikes, she and Steve answered all our questions about various accessories that we were interested in and never pressured us at all to buy anything. We bought 4 water bottles (with 30th Century on them of course--after our experience we are happy to advertise them). Then, we were pleasantly surprised when the final bill was under $100. All in all, we found 30th Century Bicycle to be a wonderful asset to the Iowa City community. They have a good mix of used and new bikes and accessories, are just into their 2nd year of business, and we wish them many years of success to come. Well definitely be back. -Bill

30th Century Bicycles is an awesome local shop! Steve and Cody are knowledgable about all bicycle products. They are not an in-your-face-we-must -sell-stuff-to-you shop. 30th Century Bicycles is a strong supporter of bicycle commuting and bicycle advocacy. They do a great deal of used bicycle sales too. The service is outstanding, and they have fast turnaround. If you are looking for a great local bicycle shop, look no further...30th Century Bicycles is the place to shop!

Solid spot, friendly knowledgeable staff, good selection, clean store. In terms of local bike shops, this place is kind of in between the nice new bike shops (world of bikes) and the used bike shop (broken spoke). I wish they were more upfront about the prices they charge, and the person I spoke with was really enthusiastic about selling me a brand new bike - I guess thats how they make money so I cant really harp on them more about it..

30th Century Bicycle is the perfect illustration of an ideal local business. They are little in all the right ways. They are active in the community and develop personal relationships with their customers. On the other hand, they think big. They carry a great selection of mainstream and niche cycling products, and their business is structured around environmentally conscientious standards. I cant recommend this shop highly enough.

Im a bike commuter and I shop at 30th Century Bicycle. I love shopping there because it is so convenient, I can stop there on my way home...but perhaps what I love the best is that they know my name and Ive only been there a handfull of times. When I have a loose screw or a bent brake pad I can swing in and theyll just fix it up quick, often without any charge. Its true customer service.

Though there are no recent ratings, this shop is still awesome. Im new to commuter biking, but Cody was extremely helpful with picking out the gear I needed. Like the other reviewers have mentioned, they are not pushy at all. I plan on making 30th Century the only bike shop I go to!

Cody and Steve have created their vision of what a local shop could be. Years of combined experiences allow them to provide service to tourists, commuters, and the local cycling community. Expert repairs, an array of necessities, great advice, and local stewardship!

We have purchased two bicycles at 30th Century -- one a new Surly LHT and the other a used mountain bike. We love both bikes and have had excellent service. Great tune ups, helpful advice, and lots of fun bike stuff to oogle at in the shop. Top rate LBS!

Knowledgeable staff but they have more older peoples bikes so I didnt buy from them. But the bikes they do have are incredibly comfortable! They also have a selection of used bikes that they have gone over.

No free parking. Couldnt do a front derailleur adjustment in the same day. One person on staff. High expectations? Maybe if theyre ranked 4.9

Probably my favorite bike shop in the area among several good shops. It feels very unpretentious, and they are helpful/do good work.

Owner is amazing. He went the extra mile to repair my bike at a very reasonable price, and time frame.

For the not so young flyer this is the best place to get wheels that roll and a bike that goes.
