I bought a bike a few days ago from Hall Bikes. They had to build it before I took it home. Before they called me to report that it was done, I called them to return the bike. (Due to a back injury, I have to get a recumbent bike.) Even though they told me there was a 30 day return policy, they tried to charge me $60. This seemed dishonest. Plus they said that they dont want my business again because I dont understand bikes and what it takes to put them together. So I pointed out that the bike had never left their store and they can sell it to another customer. They then reluctantly gave me a full refund. While they were nice when I was buying a bike, they got upset when I returned it. Not a good experience.

I love this bike shop, love the employees, love the service department, have good selection of products, just dont like the bike selection since you have a choice between Trek or Trek. That being said there are intangibles that distinguish Hall from other shops in the east-central Iowa area. First and foremost reason I go to this shop is the staff, helpful, intelligent without speaking down to you, not the typical sales people. Second is service. Best service by far. Quick, accurate, and price competitive. This is the only shop it seems that can true a wheel really well. Break a small part, dont be surprised if they hand it to you free.
