Called Wed or Thurs and set up an appointment in grooming for the upcoming Saturday at 1:30PM. I Spoke with a young lady that quoted me a lower than remember price for the service I was requesting. I repeated back to her the services that I needed such as wash, cut, conditioner, perfume, and bows.... I was told that it was 24.99 + 11.00 for the express.... I even said i thought it was more like 45.00 for the service that I was requesting.... she reassured me it was the 35.99 price and let me know that I needed to bring in an updated shot record (which did make her seem more knowledgeable but I still felt unsure and made sure I got her name - that way if it was an error, the right person could be coached). Today, i see the confirm apt reminder email... I click on it .... confirm appointment .... decided to log in a look at the appointment details.... Hmmmm appointment is for.... a BATH.... thought maybe that all i asked for was included in "bath" ... check history and see that it was termed "GROOM" for what i needed.... Great.... Another phone call that I need to make today on my day off... As I dial the store # and select the grooming department I assume they will correct this and offer me the services that I had elected the day i called in and set up the appointment. I was WRONG. I received an "Im sorry there is no availability, we can schedule you next week"..... Wait.... what.... seriously? I already called in and made an appointment..... for tomorrow... I am very busy and have limited availability myself. She offered to deduct the express fee ... which was wonderful, however I needed the appointment, and I have no issues paying 11.00. I was clearly not getting anywhere with this young lady either. I requested a store manager and was transferred to an extended hold followed by ringing and no answer.... at this point I almost thought forget it....its not worth it.... I have stuff to do, but decided to call in again and I got the assistant store manager (male), who could not find any way to provide a solution either. He offered the service free of charge for my next visit... I again declined the offer at the request that this was used as a coaching opportunity, as i was not looking for free services. If you decide to utilize this facility for your grooming needs REMEMBER to verify the services that you are expecting and price... if the price sounds too good to be true request a manager to confirm and save yourself time and frustration, per the grooming representative that i spoke to when i called in today this is a common error (REALLY???). Unfortunately I dont have time to deal with a business that has this sort of common error... especially if when they make the error they cannot correct it. Hope that better customer service for future customers or additional training comes from my interaction with this business.

BAD SERVICE AND INSTRUCTION: We purchased 2 leopard geckos for my daughters birthday. The employee that helped us gave us instructions to keep the whole tank at 100 degrees and 30 percent humidtiy (this is WRONG - they need to bask, but the whole tank should not be that hot and the humidity should be at least 50 percent). She also told us we didnt have to worry about parasites and that these lizards were 6 months old. 5 weeks later, we had to take them to the vet, was told they were less than 5 months old and they would probably die from dehydration and parasites. My daughter did her best to nurse them back to health, but they were too far gone. When I talked to the Manager, she told me they only provide a 2 week warranty. Even though we were given incorrect advice that directly led to the death of our pets, the Manager did not offer any refund, repeatedly stating they have a 2 week policy. I dont remember the exact amount we paid for the lizards, but I know it was under $80. We used to spend $20 - $60 a month (we have lots of pets) at PetSmart, but we will not purchase anything from PetSmart again and I will readily share this horror story with anyone that will listen! There is at least 1 better store in Cedar Rapids!

Ive been taking my dog to this location for 7 years for grooming. Hes scheduled for a bath and brush at 8:30 with a Emma. Emma calls at 8:10 on our way to the store and she is sick and has to reschedule. Being in the car and unable to see my schedule I dont reschedule at this time. I go to the store anyway and speak to Kimber in grooming. I say to keep my business I need some compensation for this inconvenience and last minute change. She can offer 10% or a free upgrade. I tell her thats not enough because it isnt. She says thats all she can do and I tell her consider the business lost. Kimber said that was fine. I then talk to Dean who is a floor manager. I reiterate the story and he says the 10% off or upgrade is the policy. I asked if that was acceptable and to his credit he said no. I told him if theres nothing else he can do, our business is lost. Very disappointed in this situation and feeling under appreciated as a long time customer. However we wont be back.

Weve had plenty of problems with this location but today was the final straw. Went in to get my dogs nails trimmed today, was asked what breeds my dogs were (theyre both rescues) and then told that if I wanted to get my dogs nails cut theyd have to muzzle them because "we hadnt provided their current paperwork" and then when we told them that we had, in fact, provided paperwork the last time we were in they went into their system and found paperwork for one of our dogs but not the other so they said that they would still have to muzzle them to clip their nails. When I asked why they thought wed update paperwork on one of our dogs and not the other, the employees blamed the "corporate system" and advised us to call them, but it seems awfully fishy to me that the "corporate system" and not user error would make one of our pets files inaccurate and not the other. Moral of the story, we will not be coming back from any of our pet needs.

My cat got sick on the weekend, naturally, necessitating a trip to the emergency vet clinic. He had a urinary tract blockage and was prescribed Royal Canin SO formula food. I went to Petsmart and the clerk had a nutritionist come talk to me. She told me that the Nutro Max Cat was even better than what was prescribed. For 6 months I fed my cat the Nutro, and he seemed to be doing very well. But, now after 2 more trips to the emergency vet clinic this weekend and over $600 (SO FAR) later Im told the food he was eating was extremely bad for urinary blockage problems. Of course Petsmart says its not their problem since they do not employ the nutritionist (who is sent by Nutro). Too bad for me. I wont be back.

staff seems nice and helpful. They usually have superior deals on items like cages.. they also seem to at least attempt to take decent care of the animals they have... they have an adoption area for cats that is nice.. and their small animals seem happy.. I got some fish from here a while back and they worked out well.. They have lots of different types of hamsters so if you are looking for a specific breed you might actually have luck finding it there.. the only reason i give them 4 stars is that they can be a bit pricey with some things.. a lot of stuff they sell you can seriously get from walmart for a LOT cheaper..or even online.. but they do sometimes have sales that are decent..
