I was very impressed with this store when I first started going a couple of years ago. Sadly, something has changed. I am into fish but have not purchased any at Jacks for a pretty long time. I have gone multiple times to buy, but when I get there the selection is either very bad or the tanks are filthy. I was in last week and the glass on many of the aquariums was very dirty. I have gone to other Jacks locations (mostly Colerain, OH) and those stores are much cleaner. I am very disappointed with the drop in quality of the Richmond location because there arent very many good pet stores in East Central Indiana.

I purchased a puppy there a few years ago. They gave me papers on how to train the dog and everything I needed to know and even had coupons in there where if I got the dog spayed or neutured I would get a $45 gift card in the store. Im not from Richmond, but my towns pet store is the pits. So when I walked into Jacks, I was a little taken back. Instead of a filthy, smelly, yellow place that had animals in cages without any food, there was a bright, very clean, non stinky place. The dogs looked in great condition. And thank to Jacks I now have the love of my life.

Almost all of the animals in the store were sick and cramped together without any room to move without touching another animal. There was a tank with over 100 dead fish piles up on each other while the rest of the tank was extremely packed with fish with no room to swim. Very sad to see. There is no way they will recieve money from me.

A number of puppies with temperament problems. Animals from mills and inbread in small spaces, in their own waste. They dont screen their animals/ breeders and the clerks dont seem to realize. So sad! I would avoid buying a pat from Jacks.

Small store and limited selection. Not many pets. Decent selection of accessories. The quality of the items seemed alright. This is probably the best in town but I am sure youll find better places with a little travel.

The fish area was almost empty, shelves and stock low. No real selection at all, No fish medications of any kind. As being the only pet store in town, it is disappointing. I miss Jacks, they had a good fish area.

I got my hamster from there as well as most of the stuff he needed. He was in perfect health when we got him and he is in perfect health today. Thanks to them I have the cutest thing I could ever ask for.

I go to pet valu about every weekend to get feeder mice for my snake. The service is great and the selection of terrarium and aquarium accessories is plentiful. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Store has an odor, as if what few animals they do have are not being cared for as they should. After walking around the store, I vowed not to bring anything from here into my home.

The one Manager there can be a little intimidating towards customers but she is trying to help. Though the fish there are usually sick and will often have a dead fish in the tank.

The kids that they employ are worthless. They know less than nothing about pets especially reptiles and they act like you are bothering them when you need their help.

They have an okay selection of fish, but most of the fish have a disease called ich. Their tanks are overstocked and their bettas arent in very healthy conditions.
