While I enjoyed Dr. Joe, your staff needs help. My husband ordered contacts from the College Mall office in April of 2014. We had a baby in May, so I neither one of us noticed he never received his contacts...In AUGUST when I called and ranted a little at your Ellettsville staff (because the College Mall staff wasnt answering the phones for a whole week!!!), the Ellettsville staff let me know that someone "forgot" to order his contacts. They apologized and told us they would overnight the contacts, give us a free box of contacts and call us when they came in. TWO WEEKS LATER when I called them inquiring at why we hadnt been called, they said, "OH! Those contacts have been here for a while and are ready to be picked up..." Where was my phone call? I wanted to yell, but figured that would not help anything. My husband ordered the free box of contacts in August and in JANUARY, when I made him call and see where they were, we were told that "someone" charged our insurance for the "free" contacts but still forgot to actually order them. We will NEVER, ever go to the college mall offices again. EVER.

I called Hoosier Eye Doctor after a very frustrating day, attempting to make my regular eye appointment after my employers switched to new vision insurance and there was apparently issue in documentation. After everything was smoothed out, I began calling around to see if anyone else could help before I departed for a work event in San Francisco for the next two weeks. (My previous glasses were broken, it had been more than two years since my last appointment, and my regular office has horrible hours.) Dr. Joe answered the phone (lending a helping hand to his office staff!) and told me to come down TONIGHT. Him and his hardworking, kind staff got me into an exam, fixed my old broken glasses, and had his office in Ellettsville begin working on a new pair for me. This experience was like nothing I could have ever expected from a doctors office - they obviously went above and beyond and Im so excited to schedule my next appointment at this office!

The staff here is absolutely exceptional - always ready to help, friendly, and great listeners. Ive been to Hoosier Eye Doctor three times, and each time the receptionist helped me solve my problem with patience and understanding. They never brushed off my problems or hurried me in any way. Dr. Joe was equally fantastic, and was very knowledgeable. The prices are fair, and I didnt feel pressured to buy excessive things. Also, they gave me some free contact lenses to hold me over until my insurance was active (I just got a new job), which I really appreciate because money is very tight right now. So overall, 5 stars and two thumbs up! I highly suggest Hoosier Eye Doctor to everybody!

I had the best experience here!! They really work with you to get you the right fit. They really worked with me (I have terrible eyes and a difficult persciption as well as allergies) to get me exactly what I wanted and needed. Pricing is more than fair and they make sure that you always get the most for your money. I was very indecisive and had a difficult time figuring out what I wanted, but the staff was all very helpful and understanding. Dr. Joe even let me use Skype on his computer so that I could show my mom the different frames that I liked and she could help me pick out a pair! No doctor has even gone so far out of their way to help me!!

Doctor Joe is the best! I was able to get an appointment very quickly to take care of an eye-lid infection. I had recently went to IU Heath Urgent Care for the same problem and found them completely useless. Doctor Joe knew exactly what was going on with my infection and how to treat it. I left knowing that he truly cares and that my problem will be solved. Not only that, but the cost was 80% less than IU Health Urgent Care! The next time I have a problem with my eyes Ill know to go to Doctor Joe. I knew Hoosier Eye Doctor was the place I would always go to for eyeglasses, but now I know I can contact Doctor Joe anytime for emergencies too.

I met Dr. Joe in 2007 at the Childrens Expo when I arrived to Bloomington and from then on I have been one of his patients. The office makes you feel welcome and their is such a VARIETY of glasses/contacts that are available. He not only wants to make sure your eyes are well taken care of but your overall well being by making each visit really personal and current with what is going on.. Hoosier Eye Doctor is the BEST I have ever seen not only in Bloomington but in any eye doctor I have had seeing I have had glasses since the 2nd grade. Please Please make sure you take your children, or yourself to them they have the best service.

This place was so great! They have a cancellation list, the staff is so nice, and Dr. Joe is awesome! I was able to schedule an appt for both me and my 8month old daughter. We were examined simultaneously so it went quick and was so convenient. Everyone was so great with her. Everything is explained in detail. They dont rush you or behave callously like many doctors offices do. The office atmosphere is really welcoming and casual. Ive worn glasses since first grade and with how much I travel I have seen countless eye doctors. Honestly, I have to say Dr. Joe is the best. Highly recommended.

I am done with this office! I have been seeing Dr. Joe since he opened his office, no more! The staff turn over in his office is HORRIFIC! Dr. Joe is great, but the staff always looks confused. I was in Saturday to pick up my contacts, and no one could find them, looks like never ordered. The girl "Laura" at the front desk is so rude, and un-friendly. She argued with me for 15 mins about my order, and insurance. Not sure where all the good employees he has had in the past have gone, but I have decided to follow. Sorry Dr. Joe.

Approximately 5 years ago, I took my oldest daughter to see Dr. Joe, to try and diagnose a vision problem that several other local Optometrist had missed. After her first appointment, Dr. Joe accurately diagnosed my daughter, prescribed the corrective prescription eyewear, and provided necessary vision therapy with Dr. Tondel (in office vision therapist). I have COMPLETE confidence in Dr. Joe, not only as a great eye doctor, but as a kind and compassionate person. Our family are loyal customers.

I have been having headaches for several months and went in for my routine eye exam with Dr. Joe and he not only gave me an explanation for why I was having my headaches, but he also gave me a solution to them. Him and and Dr. Tondell, the Eye Therapy Specialist set me up with some appointments and exercises to strengthen my eyes and the headaches are gone. They were so helpful and made sure that I understood what the problem was. I would recommend them to anyone for eye care needs.

I had an excellent experience here with my whole family, including a 3 and a 4 year old. I have been to many eye doctors and felt most comfortable speaking to and dealing with the staff here. Dr. Joe was very friendly and straight forward. The whole staff was GREAT with my kids! Edit: The woman who was fitting my eye glasses had to heat and reheat my frames so many times that the black paint on the rims began to peel off only a week after getting them.
