I purchased a rare pink floral 116200 from this jeweler, sight unseen. The watch was listed at $5250, so I spoke to Andy Olczak and offered him $4800 by check, which he immediately accepted. The watch was described as being "scratch-free" and time to within factory specifications. I mailed the check on October 10, expecting to have the watch shipped within about a week, but instead I got an email from Tina Riley stating that the watch would be shipped on 10/24. When the 24th came and went without any word, I emailed her again and received a very curt reply saying that she had meant to say "10 BUSINESS days, not 10 days" and the actual date of shipment would be 10/31. On 10/32 I received the watch, but it was not what I expected. It had been polished, but not very well--there were still scratches and pockmarks visible on the bracelet, and a small scratch on the crystal. All the crevices under the bezel, between the links, and even in the threads of the winding stem were caked with a thick black paste (supposedly polishing compound), and required extensive cleaning to remove. The links were all present and the watch was keeping good time, but there was some damage to the screw heads on the bracelet. It seems that whoever polished the watch had done a very poor job, and had not even bothered to clean off the polishing compound. Because of the amount of possibly abrasive debris around the crown and caseback gaskets, I was concerned that the watch may no longer be waterproof, and Tina was unwilling to have the watch tested, claiming it would add "unnecessary expense". After several rather indignant emails, Tina offered to return the watch at my own expense, claiming that it was my fault for expecting a used watch to be perfect! I explained to Tina--patiently--that I did not expect a used watch to be perfect, but I did expect it to be waterproof to factory specifications, and after having polished the watch so carelessly, there was no way they could guarantee that anymore. She eventually offered to "reimburse" me for the costs of return shipping. I was able to have my own watchmaker pressure test the watch, and it passed, so I decided to keep it rather than take my chances fronting the money for a return. It was running very accurately and in overall very good condition, but I would not buy from these people again. I was very patient and trusting, and I do not feel that trust was met with an equal measure of honesty. I get the impression that they were more interested in seeing what they could get away with than gaining a satisfied customer. When I expressed concerns about the condition of the watch after receiving it, Tinas attitude was more condescending than helpful. Based on the reviews I had read of this store, this was not the experience I expected.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Andy on the selling and buying of a watch and it was an excellent experience. Andy was honest, effficient, communicative and an absolute pleasure to do business with. I will not go anywhere else for my next watch/jewelery transaction. Thanks Andy! Thanks Old World Jewelers!!!

Ive purchased two Rolexs from Andy at Old World in the last year, while trading in my used watches each time. Both experiences were great and he was very fair with the trade in values. Id highly recommend giving them a try if you dont want to go to the standard retailers and pay much higher prices.
