Took our two pups in to get their nails trimmed and they turned out wonderful! However, I was getting tags encoded with my dogs names at the machine, and one of my dogs got too anxious and had to be taken outside. I was still holding onto my other dog, a four month old puppy, and a WORKER walked by and pet my dog, which is no problem I love when people pet my dogs, and then gave her a treat without permission, but still I was perfectly fine with it. The lady gave me another treat for my dog that had to be taken outside, and I gave her it when I left. Both dogs then had explosive diahhera for two days afterwards, and this was the only thing both of them had eaten aside from their usual food and treats at home. My older dog has never had an accident in the house, and two hours after we had taken her out, she ran downstairs and covered our dining room chairs, blinds, and walls with poop. I was very angry that a person who works at a pet store would give my dogs treats that would upset their stomachs. Especially since my animals have never had a sensitivity to ANY foods. I recommend not taking treats from workers here for pets.

To the lady who is upset about the rash and the shaving: I am a professional groomer and I know for a fact they wouldnt have shaved your dog if it wasnt necessary. My best guess is you let you dog get terribly matted and they had no choice. As for the rash, also a side effect of matting, the knots pull their skin so much it creates redness and irritation. I am 100% sure that NO trained professional (Which all petsmart groomers are) would shave your dog without good reason. Dont hate on the professional because you failed to properly care for your pooch.

Mostly good incidents here, with a few exceptions. The grooming center gets overwhelmed on occasion, and has forgotten which dog to bring out twice. It can get hectic, so be sure to only leave your dog there if the dog will be likely to remember who you are later. The veterinary center has higher fees than what local centers in the Elgin/South Elgin area charge, so I would recommend going elsewhere for shots and vet services. Not the friendliest on the phone, but again, it may be a busyness issue.

i brought my dog here for grooming paid 50 bucks for such a horrible haircut, they shaved him too close and my dog had a terrible skin rash because of it. i specifically told the groomer not to shave him because its winter but they still did. my dog looked horrible and i felt bad for him for having the rash :(

Taken my dog here many times to be groomed and for a few vet visits. Never had a problem with their service. I have family that groomed dogs for over 20 years and have a some knowledge on this. They dont try to bleed you of money, they follow the humain protocols on how to treat/groom animals.

The grooming salon is fantastic, dog or cat. Weve had both of our furballs there for grooming and theyve looked fantastic. The store staff is a little clueless and a few of them just shouldnt work in a customer service job, but on the whole its good. Its also the only one left in the area!

Banfield in South Elgin was wonderful. Never go to the one in Crystal Lake. Worth the extra travel. She was so good, ao nice and so patient with our difficult cat. Did not take him in back and left ua with him as well. Did not.push it with him or want to sadate him. Great experience

Their grooming salon is the best in the area. They truly care about the animals and their grooming skills are phenomenal. Ive taken my dogs to nearby areas, PetCo and Pawfection are in the area and I was extremely unhappy with the services there so now my dogs only go to PetSmart!

I was very happy with the personalized service that I received when I was inquiring about dog training classes. The gentlemen who assisted my boyfriend and I (I think he may have been the manager) was incredibly helpful.

Love the training classes with Courteneay! Maple just graduated and we cant wait to come back! Our husky puppy has been more than a handful and the training classes have been extremely helpful.

Its a pretty good PetSmart but I dont like the way they are trying to get you to buy the most expensive dog food or cat food available. However that is the trend nowadays.

Dogs eye swelled up after getting groomed. Vet said it was due to shampoo in his eye. Store refuses to do anything. I will never shop at a petsmart again.
