Im not sure the average reader knows, but the owner of PLF is a U of I educated nutritionist. He has been an amazing help to us for feed issues for all sorts of rescue horses with all kinds of problems, as well as dogs and cats, and people weve sent to them for other needs. We are proud to provide the pony rides (ride our clydesdale or our pony or anything in between) at their annual Pet Fair Extravaganza, and use those donations to purchase our feed needs each winter. But we would recommend purina and PLF whether or not we had any sort of fundraiser with their store. They carry a great variety of feed which is always fresh; they can get us answers when we need them to unusual nutrition problems; they are courteous and helpful in handling literally hundreds of pounds of grain at each visit and more...

This is a fantastic store! I came to the pet extravaganza to drop off my daughter at the u of I booth and ended up with a full cart of products! The prices are great here even without the sale. I live in Chicago and was surprised at how reasonable their prices were and what a huge assortment of great stuff for backyard birds, dogs, cats, other pets and horses! They were very welcoming and educated about shelter animals and not buying from pet stores because they are from puppy mills. All in all impressed! Great, helpful staff and huge selection!

I used to be a regular customer but about a year ago I saw an employee abuse a cat who regulalry roamed the store. A customers dog barked at the cat. (the cat was just walking around) The employee grabbed the cat by the scruff of the nect and threw him out the door. He landed very hard - she had clearly hurt him. When I said that she shouldnt be so rough, her reply was "scruffing a cat doesnt hurt them I do it all the time." then she laughed - I wont shop there again.

They have a great selection of products for everything from cats to horses. They even have horse treats you can take home to let your pet sample before you buy! Fromm cat and dog food is great for the animals and this place is one of the only places that stock it! Grab an envelope from the counter and keep your Fromm bar codes! You get a free bag if you send in the UPCs from your previous purchases. The dates of purchase have to be on the envelope though!

I wouldnt go anywhere else. The store is bright, everything is easy to find, and all the staff is incredibly helpful--either in helping you choose what you need, helping you find what you need, or helping to carry it when needed. I love that they offer this to everyone and dont wait for you to ask them for help. I have never had anything less than a perfect experience.

You can find most pet supplies here in addition, and the products seem diversified though dogs definitely dominate the landscape. Theyre always friendly to me and my cats when we visit. I do wish they could carry more varieties of wet food for cats that are senior friendly, (like lockable treats or cans heavy on the gravy), but otherwise, good stock.

Prairieland Feeds is amazing! There really isnt much else to say. So much better than the big chain stores. They dont sell any garbage, only high quality animal feed. Their customer/animal appreciation fair that they do occasionally is really cool too. Prices are very comparable. And the staff is educated, friendly, and very helpful.

What an amazing place! They have all the high end pet supplies you cant find anywhere else. And if they dont have it, they will get it for you! Store is very beautiful and clean and the staff is very nice and will help you with whatever you need and even carry everything to your car!

Their prices are amazing and I love how theyve given the local humane society coupons to give to new pet owners. They even have the raw food diets that I feed my cats. The workers are also extremely nice and helpful.
