Nancy got me all registered and the class soon started. The class consisted of only 8 people which was enough for intimate group comradery and individual instruction. Steve and Dick were incredible. They emphasized safety which was very important to me. The bike you learn on is the Street 500. Its a nice low weight bike that is easy to maneuver which gives you confidence right away. Steve and Dick took us through a series of exercises that started with super basics like crawling the bike and feeling out the clutch friction. Before we knew it, we were performing swerves, quick stops, 90 degree and S turns, and weaving around a cone course. We even drove over 2X4s. All the while we were mentored individually with helpful feedback as we negotiated the required maneuvers. They yelled instructions while we were riding with the patience of saints. In addition, when you caught on, they offered praise which significantly boosted my confidence. I found this confidence to be equally valuable as the riding skills we learned. They made us feel like we could do it; and we did! On day three they took us through all the moves that the DMV required to pass the Motorcycle Road Test. We took the test with the same bike we had spent the last two days on which was a huge confidence booster. Yes, I was nervous. But as I watched the riders who went before me, I could hear Steve and Dicks voices talking me through the moves. When it was over, the DMV guy told me I passed with flying colors. He also commented that he had assumed I had driven a bike before the course (I did not). He said I had "exceptional control over the bike." This was all due to Steve and Dicks impeccable instruction and positive reinforcement. Big Joe put me on at least 20 bikes. Joe made me feel like I could ride any bike in the store, but in the end, the weight and height of the Softail gave me confidence that I could control the bike. If you are new to motorcycles, or a pro, Joe is the guy to go to. He even gave me a leather pouch that he personally owned for my wallet and license. How nice is that? 2 days after I bought my Softail, we rode up to the store and Joe, Nancy, and Steve the Sales Manager all came out and gave me HUGE hugs and made me feel like a real rider. Go to Heritage Harley. Take the course. Pass the test. Buy your bike.

Wow. I have never been into a dealership that has made me feel so comfortable. When I came in and looked at the pre-owned bikes, Big Joe was all the help I needed. Honest, straight to the point, no BS and most importantly, NO PRESSURE! Joe took the time to explain the differences between the bikes I was looking at, told me what he personally liked, and told me what most other people preferred. This helped me narrow down my decision. I told Joe what I wanted in comfort, style and price range and he immediately started making suggestions. He knew almost every single bike he had on the floor and was quick to shoot down ones that he thought werent worth it. I appreciated that immensely. I left that day with Joes card and vowed to try my best to purchase from him just because he made me (and my GF) so comfortable. I continued phone calls and email exchanges with Joe for a couple weeks when I finally decided to purchase the bike I had really wanted. Joe continued to assure me that I shouldnt feel pressured into buying anything, and if I changed my mind at any point, it wasnt a big deal. He just wants me to be a satisfied rider. The day I arrived to pick up my bike, Joe greeted me.. ushered me to my bike and fired it right up. He made sure the bike was clean and spotless. It was, and I was beyond excited. He made great recommendations on what I may or may not want to do with it and took the time to show me some of the accessories I wanted. When doing the paper work, Joe had everything prepared. Everything was taken care of, credit was in check, numbers were written up - and we flew through the process. He went over my insurance options told me the benefits but again stated there was no pressure. Then I met with Ray, just as nice, just as easy to deal with and the same no pressure situation. We closed the deal quickly while I felt everything was explained to me in more then sufficient detail. Would I recommend Heritage? Yes. Would I recommend Big Joe? In a heart beat. You want a guy you can trust and make you feel like a friend more then a sales number - then Joe is your guy. Im looking forward to coming back to pick up my bike in the spring not only for the bike, but to hang with Joe a bit. Such a great dude.

SERVICE = 0/5 Brought my 07 V-Rod for new tires installation but needed further technical work done on one of my LED mirrors that was not lighting up. Rob in service tells me a new mirror has to be ordered cause the one on there may be fried. No problem, I bought one from another dealer since Heritage is closed on Mondays and needed it done in a hurry. Two days later (after calling them 3 times because no one followed up), Rob tells me, "Its not the mirror, whoever did your wiring messed it up. You need to order a brand new LED kit to get this working." Wow, really!?! I should spend another $300?? Ever heard of a parts list on the back of the H-D instructions? This is the treatment I receive AFTER agreeing to have $1300 worth of work done on the bike (new front brake rotors/pads, rebuild front brake master cylinder, and steering head bearings). Total used car salesman mentality. You figure spending this kind of money gets you somewhere. NOPE! Pathetic isnt even the word. SALES = 0/5 Spoke to a salesman, Terry, who has been there 22 years. Requested a test ride on a 2016 Dyna Low Rider S and he rolled his big old eyes. Great bike. This guy really thought he could try to grind a sale after completing two laps around the back parking lot. Hes definitely good at what he knows, except dealing with customers. I asked about another sales guy but he doesnt work there anymore. Go figure. PARTS = -5/5 Seriously, these guys never answer the phone or return phone calls. Just voicemail! They get a negative rating since I did not speak to anyone. Horrible. MOTORCLOTHES = 5/5 Real nice ladies working here. Selection is limited but good choice of riding gear. The quality of this dealership has diminished greatly. Ive been coming here for years and all the good folks who used to work here are long gone. They get 1 star since Im required to leave something. Otherwise it would be pure zero.

I was looking at buying my first Harley. I always wore the cloths but never had the bike. 14 years later I finally decided this is the year. I called a few places around looking for the bike I wanted. A few dealers had it but I didnt like their attitude or their price. I called Heritage and spoke with Big Joe on the phone. He was awesome on the phone, I explained my situation and we made a appointment to come in the following Saturday. I came in the following Saturday and Big Joe had to change his plans and was force to work the motorcycle show, but Terry help me. Terry Grimes is a great person, very upfront and awesome to deal with. I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy a bike. After talking to him and getting my rates I left leaving a deposit to come back later in the week to fill out the paperwork. I return a few days later and was greeted by Joe the General Sales Manager for Heritage, I spoke with Joe while they got the paperwork ready, also a top notch person over at heritage. Pleasure to talk to and made the buying experience even more pleasurable . After talking with Joe, Terry handed me over to Ray so I can start signing my paperwork. I was thinking everyone at this place couldnt be this nice but I was wrong, Ray in Finance, was awesome to talk to and made going through the finance process a breeze. Everyone looking to buy a bike Should definitely go to Heritage Harley. The best dealer in the Chicago land Area. Update: I just took the riders edge class offered at Heritage Harley. The instructors were top notch. Steve, Dick and Nancy were the best. Couldnt ask for better instructors. If you never rode a motorcycle before, forget the state course, take the riders edge course at Heritage. You wont be disappointed.
