Was in the area looking for dessert this past summer on a weeknight. It was just past 10, and everything had closed (its Evanston). Asked some people standing outside Frio Gelato if they knew of any place that was open, and it happened to be the owners and their family. They asked us what we wanted, then went in and brought out 2 cups of lemon gelato, and refused to charge us! Great people, and the gelato was superb, better than the chain franchises in downtown Evanston imo.

One of the creamiest ice creams youll ever try and the servings, honestly, are quite big...my girlfriend and I would get one medium and it would be more than enough for both of us. If you are ever in the area, or actually want good ice cream, instead of the generic ones out there, give this place a try.

This is a family owned spot with great, friendly service and awesome gelato. The staff are always smiling and eager to help, and theyll give you samples of everything until you find something you really love. Try one of the more exotic flavors like cheese and honey. Youll be glad you did!

Very average experience. The ice cream seemed rather fresh, but the taste of both flavors I picked were extremely bland, plus the seating is very tight and uncomfortable. Not to forget the unpleasant employees, and over-sensitive little kids.

This gelato is excellent. It is argentinian style so there are flavors typical from Argentina. And it is very cream, as an Argentinian ice cream should be. I will be coming back for sure! Hope you open the downtown store soon!

I went to dozens of gelatorias in Italy in many different cities........and I can honestly say I like Frio gelato better as far as the texture and freshness. They even had lactose free for my friend!

Definitely the best ice-cream in Evanston, if not Chicagoland. The fig and cognac is just so so good. Feel lighter something fresh in the hot summer sun? Lemon, or peach sorbet will fill the trick.

This place is great. Highly recommend the dulce de leche granizado. Everything is made fresh in their kitchen that week. A little pricey but very worth it.
