A rasist girl works there,if you not white stay away because I guarantee you,you will be humiliated by a girl with a dark hair that either works there or own the shop.I walked in with my 7 yo and her 11 yo friend for the 1st time because my daughters friend usually goes there, the shop was empty a lady was doing some washing inside a room noticed us in the store after 5 minutes waiting she came out giving me a horrible dirty look from the bottom up making me feel I dont belong or im not supposed to be in her store, I tried to ignore that feeling and went ahead and ordered ice cream for the kids.was an unbelievable moment. Here is my advise to you hon,if you own a business you have to educate your self 1st and by you opening your doors to public for business you should hide your racist personality because you either going to be out of business or be sued by somebody who isnt going to let you get away with it. I live 5minutes from that store.

I cant believe this place had such raving reviews..the ice cream is the most expensive I have had..and this coming from someone that thinks a one scoop ice cream from Whole Foods is exorbitant... they have a lot of flavors..though...and theyre pretty nice. However, the mannequins scared my young daughter..not sure their decorations are exactly appropriate for little kids .. This place reminds me of something done in a Whole Foods in California..they put for sale an asparagus stalk in water to see who would buy the "asparagus water" for $6.I cant believe people are ok with paying overpriced ice cream for the miniscule scoop you get....(its tiny) Marianos child scoop is large and under $2... Oh and like someone else mentioned, its CASH ONLY because...why not profit even more from selling ice cream at an exorbitant price...if ppl are willing to pay for it?? unless it will give me superpowers... the price does not justify the product...

The Chocolate Shoppe is a long-time staple for the neighborhood. Differences between this and other places? Tent-like interior that gets re-painted every season with various messages for one. Its never dull. Beyond that, Zanzibar chocolate and other flavors of amazing ice cream. Open year-round, they have outdoors seating in the summer. Nice crew members who give out samples and tiny cones as you are trying to decide. Its a fun place for good ice cream. Prices are comparable to Oberweis but they give more ice cream in more flavors. Cons: Cash only. Parking isnt too bad if there isnt a big crowd.

Ive been here a few times. I get that its cute, and possibly the only mom and pop shop ice cream shop in town so its popular with local families. I love supporting local businesses especially when the staff is friendly and accommodating, but its definitely pricey. For two kid cones in simple cake cones it was almost $9 (and I always make sure to add a tip for good service so I spent $12) and its cash only. The closest atm has a $4 atm charge. So for a family of 4, plan on spending at LEAST $20 on ice cream for the most basic order so definitely plan ahead.

Awsome shop. Great staff. We came here for first time and didnt know they take cash only. Their staff was really understanding and gave us a receipt and asked us to come back and pay but dont worry and enjoy the ice cream with family. Great flavors, staff walking around with small scoops of different flavor and cups of water for customers. They have a great ambiance and outdoor seating. Very hard working and nice staff. Highly recommended. Staff appears to really enjoy their jobs and have fun. Kudos to owner for creating this environment.

The ice cream is sooo good. They always have a huge selection of ice cream flavors with a few dairy free or sugar free flavors. The service is always really great and they always have plenty of samples when its hard to decide on just one. Ive noticed that they have quite a few ready made ice cream cakes and they make custom ice cream cakes too. I keep intending to get one for the next birthday. I overlook the political displays and decorating themes. Chalk it up to freedom of speech. Keep in mind that they are cash only

Just went there tonight. There was a really sweet girl and a guy named Matt, both went far beyond to satisfy and were very polite. AWESOME ice cream flavors, I got a banana split, and girlfriend got a oreo and m&m dipped cone, super delicious. Didnt realize it was cash only and only had a card, and she let us eat beforehand before paying so my girlfriend could run to an ATM. Also they have an awesome sound system and a retro setup inside. Would come back all the time. :)

its a wonderful place for family and friends. Great atmosphere from the art to the service to the owner. Everyone very clearly enjoys being there. You can sample all the different flavours 100 times and still order your favourite! Whats not to love? This place is a gem to people both near and far. It will always have a special spot in my heart and the beautiful thing is I know Im not alone. Everyone should stop by and become part of the family here.

Where else can you go for Ice cream and run into captain hook, or the walking dead during Halloween? Right now the have a great under water them. My kids love to go and take a spin at the fish wheel. My husband is addicted to the Zanzibar chocolate ice cream and I love to mix it with the cocoanut Win Win! A great time for every one. Ive never had a bad scoop! K. York

When I lived in Chicago we used to go here all the time! Amazing place with incredible decorations favorite memories of when the theme was candy land and then when it was wizard of oz and they had painted the color changing horse with paint that changed colors depending on where you stood! Cant wait to go back there and get a blue moon waffle cone!:)

OMG, this is literally the best ice cream I have ever had. The Fat Elvis is my favorite! It is a funky and fun local shop with tons of interesting pop art and decorations based on the season, or politics... the staff are really friendly and they allow you to taste a few flavors before you make your choice. Totally worth it! Highly recommended!

This place has TEN dairy-free options ... four soy and six Italian ices! My tummy rejoiced since I normally dont get to enjoy ice cream with my family. Took the dog with us tonight and they gave her a complimentary doggie sundae -- a vanilla custard with a milkbone on top!! Very cool place, awesome staff, and very delicous frozen treats!

Not only is this fabulous ice cream, but the Customer Service is out of this world! I came here for the first time on Saturday night with my 2 dogs and they each received their own bowl of water and Sunday (soft serve ice cream - no dairy topped with a milkbone). If you have never been head over and grab a scoop of fabulous ice cream!

Very popular ice cream hangout. Its whimsical and they do a great job decorating. Seems like when I do visit theres a different theme inside. The best part is the many different flavors of ice cream. One night they gave samples of orange sickle, its was really really good. A must try for those in the far NW side of the city.
