This has become one of my favorite places in Edgewater; the interior is charming, if not bordering on campy, the service is always excellent and they have endless possibilities to create your ideal frozen treat. Every week they have a new special concoction that 9 times out of 10 is worth getting, though they are usually more fit to those with adventurous pallets (I.e. They are not your plain-Jane ice cream treats). As far as pricing goes, they are about on par with what youd find at DQ, though the servings are a little bit bigger if I remember correctly (its been a number of years since I have been to one, since Lickity split is closer to my house and blows DQ out of the water). If youre in the area, its definitely worth a trip.

Ive found my newest craving....a Crazy Cake Concrete. A full cupcake (cake and frosting) mixed into dense, rich, frozen custard. I wanted a red velvet concrete, but they didnt have any red velvet cupcakes at the time, so I had a chocolate cupcake blended into chocolate frozen custard instead. It was sooooo delicious! Ive been thinking about it for these past 2 days. What a great idea! Lickity Split is such a cute place and service is very friendly. Not only do they have frozen custard and sundaes, they also have chocolates and candies, some old school stuff as well. I will definitely be back to try a red velvet concrete!

For me, a larger variety of ice cream flavors would help make me exited to come back. As it is, it feels more like a candy shop than anything, and you can then variate the ways the candy is utilized into basic chocolate, vanilla, or flavor-of-the-week custard. They also have a few baked desserts as well - that taste maybe a bit heavy and unbalanced. Id go Margies for cheaper, Jenis for more high end, and Georges for better flavor at the same price. For vintage flair, retro candy, and great soda though, lickity split is on point.

After reading all of the Yelp reviews, I was really excited to try this place out. We got the vanilla and the flavor of the day (lemon) in separate cones. The vanilla was fine, but the lemon was not-so-good. I love lemon ice cream and lemon custard, but when you dont get it just right its just awful. A bizarrely full mouthfeel where the custard felt almost extra fluffy and a not-quite-natural lemon flavor. I guess Ive been spoiled by living so close to Jenis for so long, but Lickity Split just didnt do it for me.

How did I not know about this place before? I LOVE the old timey vibe of this place. Its an awesome spot for dessert or just a sweet treat in the middle of the day. While it can get crowded, the space doesnt feel especially cramped thanks to a spacious layout. I had a concrete and was totally satisfied with it. The flavors are simple but the add ins are plentiful. Be as crazy or as vanilla as youd like. The custard is incredibly rich so it may be wisest to share with a cute date or friends.

A variety of delights that should be able to satisfy the sweet tooth of anyone. From their delicious custard, which can be served up in many ways or mixed with other ingredients, to their selection of hard to find and novelty candies (also in bulk), to their baked goods and sodas. They have a little bit of everything. There will quite likely be a line, but it is worth it. They always vanilla and chocolate custard, but they have a third flavor of custard that rotates as well.

Great local business, it will usually be packed on a nice weather day but the wait is worth it. Their lemon frozen custard is the best and there is so many different combinations to choose from. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance is friendly and inviting. I love their mint chocolate chip ice cream and their banana splits, feel free to try something new, I last tried their red velvet ice cream sundae and it was great.

Love this place! Though decorated like an old time ice cream parlor, this is actually NOT an old time ice cream parlor. This is custard! And candy. And baked goods. But I have to admit with the times I have been there, I have never partaken of those last two. Its all about the custard. And they do this thing where they take a cupcake of your choice and blend it in with the custard...amazing!

There complex shakes and sundaes can get pretty pricy but its so worth it. They make the custard fresh, every hour. Theres always chocolate and vanilla and then a flavor of the week. Its super accomadating for large groups - we went with 17 people and they were able to handle it. They also have an excellent selection of unique, retro candy.

This is the best ice cream shop in Rogers Park. They have homemade frozen custard and many different types of candies and desserts. The custard is delicious and the combinations you can make are to die for. Once you step in, you feel like youve gone back a couple decades making for a great environment.

This place is sweet but the service left me bitter. My custard was thick and my sundae was rich but I had to remind them about my order (oops, they forgot!). Apologizes given, they incorrectly made my sundae (forgot the brownies). Overall, I liked my sundae but Im not sure if Ill be returning.

This is a go-to place for sweet treats if youre on the north side!! The service is amazing, everyone is friendly and welcoming. The vibe of the entire place is great - live music often and people lingering to enjoy their treats. A wonderful place - a new favorite local for me!

Best frozen custard in the city. They have a monthly flavor but I always get chocolate omg chocolate because it is my favorite and I cant bring myself to try anything new. Perfect summer treat on the north side. The owners are great and they also sell baked goods and candy.

Ken, the owner, has created an old time candy store feel within this excellent custard spot. Fresh baked goods, custard flavors of the day, and old school candy treats make this a must visit place in Edgewater. The hours also make this business an easy place to enjoy.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Yet another sugar monger shop that attracts over eager people who want candy and ice cream (or if youre trying to be posh: "frozen custard"). Plenty of these places around, so dont bother trekking to this one if youre not nearby.

This is your storybook neighborhood candy & ice cream parlor. Its the type of place that anyone would want in their local neighborhood. Trust me. Plus, the owners and staff have it down. They know what theyre doing. Keep up the great work and service!

This gets my born-and-raised Wisconsinite stamp of approval. Theres no better custard in Chicago, and their sweets display is adorable. Whoever makes their cutout cookies does a spectacular job. It can get a little pricey, but the quality is divine.
