Funnel cakes and ice cream. What a combination. No longer do you have to wait for the county fair to enjoy this pair. Go to sugar shack and do the responsible thing.... get the mini. You can have your cake... err your funnel cake and eat it with ice cream too. Enjoy the fact that you can also add toppings of your choice to your dessert. The topping options are plentiful. No matter what you choose, Im sure it will be delicious. The funnel cake comes out fresh and oh so tasty. While not exactly housed in a shack, this place is walk up style with very limited sidewalk table seating. You order at a window and wait for your order to be called. It is a little off the beaten path but well worth the visit for a sweet treat. A great 1-2-punch would be a meal in Chinatown followed by a trip to Sugar Shack.

Normally I think this place is fantastic, and I always get their funnel cake sundaes and occasionally a slushie as well (Id recommend the blue raspberry). However when I was there not that long ago, upon placing an order with a Groupon (which said what I ordered was fully paid for) they said tax wasnt covered. Now normally Id be fine with this, just run to the car and grab a dollar and call it a day but the employee was super rude and disrespectful about it and it completely ruined the experience there. Make sure you bring cash even if youve purchased a Groupon because they will show you a tiny little sign with tiny little font that the Groupon doesnt cover tax.

It was awesome experience it was crowded , but not rushed the lines long and quick.... just a anticipation of sweet surrender and total bliss !!!! From the Korea grandmother who knew very little English and invited us to sit and talk to the youngest baby who couldnt talk we all wanted it ... the sweet happiness that is Sugar Shack!!! the employees were friendly, kind and patient that didnt mind answering our questions the weather was awesome not to hot or cold just a beautiful day for ice cream or whatever tasty treat your heart desired. ..First experience definitely not my last Lol

The people in line can be rude and rowdy (they cant understand that theyre standing in line and shouldnt be hogging the entire sidewalk), but if you can get past that, then youre in for a treat! For $4.45, cash only, you can get a mini-funnel cake laden with ice cream, whip cream, cherry, a dry topping, and a wet topping. I love strawberries and oreos as my toppings. It is heavenly! I also suggest you share this with a friend. Its too much for one person.

A hidden gem in an old school Chicago neighborhood. Parking and seating is at a minimum but its totally worth it on a Summer day or night. The options are endless with ice cream concoctions and funnel cakes. Im old school and like sundaes and theyre phenomenal. Real whipped cream and they dont skimp on the toppings. People complain about the high prices but the quality is high to make it worth it. Make the trip and get here!

i just went to the sugar shack and it was delicious! their funnel cakes are huge and and freshly made unlike six flags. their funel cake sundae is only 6.25 and that includes a dry and wet topping and feel free to add more! their basic funnel cake is only 3.25 i belive and is just as good! they also have wonderful icecream and other great treats so if you have a sweet tooth to sastify definantly go to the sugar shack =]

I would agree worst service ever. My desert was made so poorly after I stood in line for over 30 mins. Asked them to remake it and they refused. The very difinition of poor customer service. Ive been there a few times and was sadden by the quality and service. The worker who took my order name was Dave the so called manager. The area is also a little dirty. Just pick another spot not worth the time.

Use to be better, last time we went, got one of their signature sundays. Looked like a fair size for the price till you started to eat it. They reduced the amount of ice cream to approximately a table spoon size serving the rest was all wipe cream. I was very disappointed. Looks like just another good company has jumped the shark. We go else where now.

This is defiantly the place you want to be at when the blazing Chicago Summer hits. Great atmosphere outside the store and is just a lovely place to sit, eat, and talk at on a breezy Chicago summer night. Ill be here for sure this summer and I recommend this place to anyone for a sugar tooth at tasteful price.

On a nice summer day, it is nice and worth to take a walk down the street to have some funnel cakes and icees. There is always a line there and it has a quick service even though there are a lot of people who go. It is only open for a couple of months, so it is worth it to go there many times when it is open.

Sugar Shack just lost my business forever. Youd think that an ice cream place would sell ice cream, but it doesnt. They failed at the incredibly simple task of selling me a quart of vanilla ice cream on my birthday. The unhelpful and unsympathetic attitude of the person at the window didnt help. Never again.

Great ice cream. But the banana split does have enough ice cream, its plain n expensive for the price. A banana split should have more ice cream and sprinkle of your choice and toppings. Thats a banana split. Customers will appreciate it more for the price.

The mini funnel cake looks like the bomb but I decided on a sundae. I asked for pecans and they gave me peanuts. No biggie. They have a variety of toppings for ice cream. I got hot fudge and caramel. The syrup was decent but I like Margies better.

Sugar Shack draws a pretty significant crown during the summer months. I have to admit, Ive tried their scooped ice cream and their funnel cake... and I just dont get the hype. Not bad mind you but probably not worth the wait.

What a gem! Super trendy, hip dessert option thats not in the downtown or north side area! What a great spin on classic options as well. The funnel cakes and the huge variety of topping is amazing! Go south side!

They only sell ice cream treats and desserts of that nature. The funnel cakes and deep fried twinkies are very good. The line gets long but the wait is not that long. Friendly service and the treats are all great!
