We often find ourselves near Becky & Me Toys while in the neighborhood doing other things and my (now) four-year old son always asks to go in. We both love it! He loves the fact there are a few toys that he can play with - the train set and the Calico Critters. I love it because the store is small enough and after many many times of shopping there, I know I can allow him to play a bit while I roam around and shop. Often, if we arent in need of a toy or present, I will peruse and store away ideas for upcoming gift giving occasions for my son and for the other kids in our lives. And, other times, he has a bit of money he can spend or we come in specifically looking for something. More often than not, I get into a conversation about other local businesses, restaurants and cafes to try, etc. To me, this is the benefit of shopping locally and supporting small businesses - we are all part of the same local community! The selection of toys is great and the product knowledge is also great. On almost every trip in, an employee has interacted with my son which he enjoys. If you need help choosing a a gift for someone and want help from the experts or you have a child who would enjoy playing a bit while you shop, I highly recommend Becky & Me Toys!

My 2 young children and I decided to check out this store as we were walking. It looked like it had some nice toys that you dont see everywhere. From the moment we walked in, I felt like I was being watched like a hawk. They make it seem child friendly by having a few toys that children can play with, but when my 3 year old picked up a rag doll, a staff member was there in an instant telling me that she couldnt touch it, that that was not to be played with, that those toys were there to be bought. Then I saw the owner take a male staff member aside, all the while watching me, and tell him to come ask me if I needed any help. I said we were just looking and it was our first time there. I felt like I was being accused of something, the way these people were looking at me. Like they thought I was going to steal something. What an awful experience! Never will I return. Its surprising to me that anyone would spend any money in there at all.

I have decided that unless Im seriously desperate, I wont return to this store on principle. The manager is out of line when it comes to her behavior. I think she shouldve opened up a store that doesnt sell kids products. Its plain ridiculous to expect people, especially children, not to touch some of the products. A ball?!! Really? I will call my kids out if theyre being inappropriate or unruly, but they could be behaving perfectly in every way, and she has always found something to knit pick at about them. She alienates the costumer nearly every time Ive gone in there and every time Ive taken a child in Im a target. I will not return unless Toys Etc. doesnt have what I need and I certainly wont take my children there, which is unfortunate because theyre the REAL consumer. So funny, a toy store that doesnt cater to kids. Weird. Really, she should be asked to leave the store for the harassment factor alone.

I have gone here once or twice, but only for specific items, like Magnatiles that I knew they carried. I have never had a bad experience, but just have very rarely found unique and interesting things that I havent seen elsewhere. It is small and difficult to move around in because it is so packed. Last time I was there they had a huge Alex display which entices kids to play, so Im kind of surprised at other comments where people have been told NOT to play or try out toys! My daughter is a complete tomboy, so Ive never really found much for her there. It always seemed like there is a focus on princessy / dress up things, which just wasnt of interest. They have a lot of books, but I never have the patience to look through them because they are right by the Alex display and again, it is too hard to move around. Sadly, when I need toys, it is not the first place I think of to go.

Try Toys Et Cetera instead! I could not agree more with the other poor reviews. The owner (of all people!) was a very fake upon greeting us. As a customer, I felt like I was bothering them. She then proceeded to instruct my children about what they could and could not play with. This is a toy store! I would understand if they were being unruly, but both of my children were behaving very well - they were not running around the store. My oldest girl was almost in tears because of the scolding she received after picking up a doll, sitting out on a shelf. I couldnt believe it. I would not give this store your business. Instead, try Toys Et Cetera in Evanston. They have wonderful customer service and have much, much more to offer in selection.

Gosh! I really cant say enough good things. I made a mistake and sent Becky and Me a panicked email about not receiving something that was shown as delivered and was the only thing my son asked for for Christmas. They no longer had the item in stock, but found someone that did and had it shipped to me... no charge and no questions asked. Well... I found the original package buried in another box. I felt so bad for having them chase down a duplicate and emailed to apologize and pay for the second item. They were so kind and said they understood how things get crazy at Christmas. So so so kind! Impeccable customer service and they will be my first stop next time I need a toy!

This is a fantastic toy store, great customer service - they know their toys. They will gift wrap your toy for no extra charge. Theyll help you find the perfect toy or game. One of the owners is a teacher and, maybe because of that, they understand the educational value of certain kinds of toys, so theyll assist you along those lines if you wish. The prices may be slightly higher than big box stores, but this is not an apples to apples comparison - most of what youll find at Becky and Me are unique, nice brands, well made toys and games. They also have great smaller toys, gadgets, etc by the front. Try this store once and youll be a fan, too.

Amazing Experience!!! Becky & Peggy really defined the meaning of shopping local last night. I was in the need of a gift for my 2-year old Godson, who I was meeting for dinner with his parents. Driving past Becky & Me I noticed the lights on, but it was 6:55 PM. They closed at 6:00 PM. Well, Peggy was in the window setting up a new display for overnight camp. She opened the door and told me she would be very happy to help me. Wow!!! I cannot tell you how wonderful in this day and age it is to get that kind of service. They helped me pick out the gift, wrapped it and did it all with a wonderful smile! Thank you "Becky & Me"! :-)
