Good selection, but the markups on a lot of things are a little ridiculous. I purchased a Marina 10 gallon starter aquarium kit which was around the same price I can find it online, but thats about the only thing that Ive cross-referenced prices on and found to be similar. For example, I bought a Marineland 150 HOB filter at Jules pet shop for $39.99- plus tax, and the same unit (brand new Marineland 150 HOB) costs $17.99- with free shipping on amazon (and the list price without the prime discount is at $19.99-, still half the price of Jules). Same thing with the automatic fish feeder I bought there. They only had one model, a brand Id never heard of with no display or buttons (it feeds every twelve hours from the time I put the batteries in) for $35 or $40, when I have found it listed online at $13 plus shipping. To be fair, their prices on actual fish are reasonable/ pretty good, and they have a lot of BOGO deals in freshwater fish. I will say that this pet shop has a good selection of fish (fresh and saltwater), birds, small mammals, and reptiles, especially for the size of the store, and a HUGE selection of food for everything (live insects, frozen/freeze-dried/flake/pellet fish foods, a whole wall of bird foods by the pound, dog and cat food), as well as anything you would need to house any of the animals they sell. Staff is also fairly knowledgable and definitely helpful.

I came here to do a science project on worms and a nice man helped me find everything i needed.And guess what thanks to him on finding what i needed i now have Medals because i won the science fair!I want to thank all the staff!Also i bought stuff from here and i just loved it.Another guy helped me to find my dream pet which was a ferret.she was beautiful and i never loved anything else as much as i loved her.he also gave me good advice on how to care for her and gave me a discount.This is the place to go.i have been going here for years and it improved and has become the place i will always go for pets and supplies>they have really great service.and varieties of different pets.

"Friendly" service but questionable... Items in the store are dusty and crowded. It is a pet shop so it should have some animal sent but this store smells dirty. Fish tanks are filthy. Fish look unhealthy. Products are ridiculously overprice. I wanted to support the local store in the neighborhood, however, I was very disappointed with the quality of the service and products. I left feeling that the friendliness was just a sham to sell more and not genuine. Will never go back. Although I want to support the local business, this is one that unfortunately I will not recommend. Paid too much and received poor advice on the purchase. Big box store won this one over Jules.

Sometimes i have to go here but i really dont like to. Often i see dead or dying lizards, fish that are too big for the tank they are in and everything is priced at least a dollar or two more than petco. I bought two baby aquatic frogs that were miss labeled and turned out to be african clawed frogs which is cool but still they should know what they have. there used to be a lot of reviews about how disgusting this place is but they suddenly disappeared. if you hate animals then this place is chill

came in with my gf for baby iguana,poster for tank,lamp and bulb, was helped very well , also learned information for my reptiles habitat such as uva/uvb lighting. Ive had reptiles when i was younger but this iguana is the most friendliest, bright green,very good appetite ever, We were also allowed to pick one by holding them to see which we liked best, will come again,they even hold my skateboard while i shopped around, very nice people,thank you!

I was tempted in writing this review after my experience at Jules Pet Shop last week. I went in with my brother looking into getting information on fish. We want to get a fish setup for our father from Christmas. The staff not only answered all our questions, but they offered us free educational training by appointment. We couldnt be more pleased with the respect and value they seem to give their customers.

I bought a delta betta fish here. Hes the greatest fish ever. My last one lived for 4 years and after not having much luck with the bettas after him I decided to give it a try once more when I saw this betta at Jules. Hes so healthy and Ive had him for about 6 months. Liveliest betta fish I have ever seen! The staff was very kind too. I cant thank them enough for encouraging my fish keeping hobby again.

I came in to get a hamster, dog food, food for a praying mantis and other items. I had the great opportunity to speak with an older gentlemen about my needs. He had excellent customer service skills, patience, being able to provide great ideas for my animals, and how these animals help my students in school to grow. I love Jules! I recently got a 3 month old hamster from there and it know has wet tail within a 6 days of me having it. I called them and told them what has happened and what I can do. They said they can try to give it wet tail drops they had and if it passes away they give another one free. I took my hamster in to show them and they gave me the medicine free! Im so happy.

Im overwhelmed as to the expertise the staff has on its animals. Its seriously like getting a tour from a zoologist. First hand, I recently took my nephew (10 yrs old) to Jules to ask the staff some information for his science report on rats. The staff gladly helped him out and explained all about them. He got a A on his report.

When I first entered the pet shop, the staff was really kind to me and attentive. I went there to buy a turtle and they assisted me with everything possible. They also answered all my questions efficiently. Very good experience. 100% satisfied with my new little turtle :)

I only come here for their saltwater fish as they have the biggest selection in the city. However, last time my fish died on my way home. When I came back to the store they gladly exchanged my fish and gave me some pointers on how to keep up their life expectancy.

Best saltwater/marine/tropical/aqua life selection in Chicago by far. I seriously thought that I was in the shed aquarium! I come back every few weeks just to check out their new collection. Id recommend this to anyone who is serious about buying fish.

Ive been going to Jules for a few years. Ive read tons of bad reviews online but I never understood why. Lately, however, they have really improved their business. The staff is extremely serviceable and knowledge oriented.

Small pet store packed with every pet! Birds, even doves! Frogs, fresh and saltwater fish, snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, hamsters ,tortoise and turtles! Animals sell quickly theres always something new!

Amazing animals and nice culture. Although I do have a problem with their iguna bulbs. Ive brought 2 of them shortly after having them burn out on me. I only had them on for 30 mins. Thats outrageous!
