Worst customer service I have ever recieved. Me and my boyfriend purchased a rex dwarf rabbit from this store on Friday the 20th of January. Today, January 27th, a week later, this rabbit died. We noticed shortly after that he had a minor eye infection and his mouth was swollen. We took the steps and took him to the vet to get him medications and all the necessary things to fix him but he still died. My boyfriend then burried him in the backyard. I called the petsore today to see if we could either return everything or even get a 25 dollar credit for the bunny. He absolutely refused to authorize this and I told him I didnt even feel comfortable purchasing another pet from his store with the poorly given medical attention their animals are recieving. They keep rabbits and guinea pigs together in the same pen, which is completely unsanititary and unsafe for these animals to co exist. Diseases such as ringworm can be transmitted much easier this way when not kept in their own habitats. I took a chance with this petstore and its something I will never do again. Please do not give this store any bussiness and for the sake of the animals, please save their lives by getting them out of the hell hole they are kept in. This place definitely needs to be reported.

First off, I am all about small business. But after saying that, I love great customer service… You walk in and the place is very disorganized and dirty. I went the other day to get mice for my snake and there is no one available to help for about 10 minutes. I then get help and they don’t have mice that day, understandable. I went back today to get mice and again, no help for about 10-15 minutes. When I get help they do have mice in. He gets them for me and then at the register I find out they charge to use credit/debit. So I run to my car to see if I have any cash. I brought cash back and the guy at the register gives me a lecture about carrying cash and not using credit. I understand his point, but at least be respectful and not degrading in how you explain (TO THE CUSTOMER) your opinion. Not a fan of the customer service and the uncleanliness of the store. I love small business, but PetSmart it is from now on unfortunately…

I personally had a wonderful experience there last Saturday 12/8/2012. The owner was very personable and nice. He even gave his home phone number for emergencies! That to me says alot about someone this day and time. I went in not really "wanting" to purchase a puppy, just looking. After the excellent customer service and friendly atmosphere (and cute Shih tzu) I walked out with the sweetest little girl Shih tzu. Took her to the vet on Monday - and she is in perfect health. NO WORMS and not even any signs of WORM EGGS! :) The man has been in business for over 40 years - he must be doing something right! I know I am glad he is still in business - I used to visit his store when he was at the old location and when I was in search of Pet Stores this time I sure was happy to see that Village Pets was still in business. Our little girls name is Molly and she is going to be such a blessing to our family! Thank you Village Pets!

This place is an absolute disgrace! I would give zero stars if I could. The store is absolutely filthy, the turtles are kept in dirty water with no filtration, the aquariums are overcrowded and filthy, the rabbits have open sores on them, the reptiles are kept in tanks that are not set up correctly for their species, they have no food, and no way to shed properly! One leopard gecko in particular was just skin and bones, obviously had not been fed in months! None of the animals had clean drinking water, and not ONE animal in the entire place looked even remotely healthy! The place reeks of urine and disease. A friend of mine bought a bird from there and in the cage under the bird was a dead puppy covered with a bowl. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS HORRIBLE PLACE. They neglect all of their animals!! Please call the department of agriculture and report them!!

This is a great store for anyone looking to stock up on some fish. Yes the owner can be grumpy, but if youre not looking to waste his time he will give you a great deal. He is also very knowledgeable having been in business for near forty years, just had to relocate once. He orders my exotic bichirs and catfish through both Sunpet and Nautilus, and he only adds ten percent on top. He even gave me the list that Nautilus sends to retailers that shows all the prices, then he told me how to calculate what the final cost would be. I got some Delhezi bichirs for $17 each, an Ornate bichir for $21, a 6" clown loach for $20, and a 6" Lima Shovelnose catfish for $20. I highly recommend this store for both the prices and the knowledge which are available if you are willing to be patient with a little rough customer service.

I purchased a young female cockatiel from this store. The bird was in stunning condition. Her disposition was wonderful and she is very healthy. The price was lower than the competition. All of his animals are locally bred so theyre not traumatized by traditional breeding methods and the shipping process. The gentleman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I can see where some would not like him because he is a bit dry with conversation. While I did not look at every animal, I saw that they were taken very good care of. Based on everything that i experienced I would highly recommend this pet store. I will be returning for their Angelfish. They are also visually stunning and healthy. The prices for the fish were also very good much better than any other stores around.

Village Pets is and has always been a deplorable business. Its a heap of filthy fish tanks, seeping algae and salt over the sides, cages with puppy mill puppies piled on top of each other, sometimes with excrement all over them. Theres spider webs hanging from light fixtures and boxes, ammonia clings in the air from urine thats been left to soak from the mammals, the list just goes on and on. People have left reviews saying they hope it gets closed down or gets fined soon. He wont. He has ties to people in "high places" in this town and always seems to get off the hook when he gets in trouble. Its a shame that after all these many years hes been able to keep on supporting the puppy mill trade and housing the animals in his care in the horrid conditions that he has.

I have always had good experiences here. This place is not a big box store, not a corporate run place. For this reason, things are not what you are used to from big chain stores. However, this is a serious plus for me. After bad experiences with a certain big chain store, my husband and I came here. We have purchased numerous animals since then and every animal we have purchased has been in wonderful health and have made great additions to our family. The associates there have always been forthcoming to tell me what animals would or would not make a good fit in our home environment even at the expense of losing a better sale. That is NOT something I have experienced at the larger chains and for that exact reason I will continue to visit here frequently.
