My experience with Performance Bike has not been nearly as bad as others have reported. While their customer service is lacking, they are very knowledgeable, and if you can flag an associate down they can answer any question you may have. I worked with Ross. He is a young, friendly associate who can answer your questions and guide you through the selection of a bicycle. I purchased a bike during their warehouse sale. I am used to purchasing Walmart mountain bikes, so this was a big step, and I wanted to save money. Ross helped me pick the correct bike for my needs. He also showed me the accessories I needed. I was not sure about road bikes or Georgias biking rules. (I moved from AL) It was advantageous for me to join their customer rewards program. Ross helped me save money by advising me just to just come back the next day to purchase the remainder of my biking supplies as they would be "free" thanks to the rewards program. The rewards program is about $30 or so. Pat seems to be the manager. He is the long-haired, blonde older guy. He isnt too personable, but knows what he is talking about, and was even nice enough to provide me a better price on a helmet, because the one I wanted was sold-out. He also gave me some tips on caring for and transporting my bike. Overall, I was pleased with the service that I received once I had their attention, and I will continue to do business with them. Try to get Ross as your sales associate. He will make sure that from test drive to purchase you are informed and satisfied.

I used to shop at Performance Bike all the time, but NO MORE! More often than not, it was a hassle checking out. They use minimal staffing (who are paid minimally) and half the time Id have to walk around the store looking for someone to come up front and check me out. Other times, there would be one employee at the checkout, and people in line, and the computers are slow, so it would drag on and on... Having to stand in line for 20 minutes to buy one item is ridiculous! The last time I was in the store, I had to track someone down to check me out, and then the guy was taking forever because he couldnt figure out how to enter my coupon into the computer, so then he had to go find someone to help him (who had to finish helping another customer first), so it took 30 minutes to check out! I went off on the manager Scott and have never been back! If you want to shop at a store that tests your patience, this is the place!... Why would you shop somewhere that makes it hard for you to pay for your merchandise and get out of there?!? REI is on the other side of the expressway - they have more people working in the store and always one or two cashiers open for quick check out.

Everett Smith is the best! I am new to the cycling world and have visited three local cycle shops before going to Performance Cycles. Everett is by far the most knowledgeable cycle person I have met. He completely answered all my questions and spent well over an hour to thoroughly explain the differences between a various brands and the features on each model. This gave me a much better understanding of what I need to buy. I also realized that based on my new understanding, a few of the other cycle shops were giving me wrong information and steering me towards a model that was a poor/wrong fit for my body type. Hands down Performance cycles is the best! I shopped there prices online and surprisingly, their price (for the model bicycle I decided on) was $200 cheap in their store then online. There inventory is huge but for the main fact that Everett works there, I would not go anywhere else. You can shop around, but do yourself a favor and stop in and talk to Everett. You will not be disappointed.

I was returning a bike yesterday in this store but they would not accept it because I lost my receipt. I keep telling them that if they would pull up my account with Performance, it would show them the receipt when I bought the bike because I was just looking at it last week. I had my ID and my Performance card with me. Whats the use of giving your customers an online account if you dont want to pull them out? Per Performance Bikes return policy, a product could be returned to any of its retail stores nationwide. Apparently, this store honors this policy only if you dont lose your receipt because theyre too lazy to pull up your account. Right after leaving this store, I called the Performance Bike in Marietta/Kennesaw and they were more than happy to help. They even pulled up my account during my call. It was a breeze dealing with them -- I was in and out of the store for no more than 5 minutes.

My son went to purchase a bike, told a salesperson which one he wanted to try. We waited about 25 minutes for the service dept to put pedals on, then had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to go over the gears, etc so he could just try the bike. Once we decided to purchase (a $1700.00 bike by the way) they proceeded to push every little thing to buy - pump, water botte, bottle holder, tool to adjust the seat, spare tube, shoes. We even had to purchase pedals. A $1700 bike that doesnt come with pedals? I know different pedals can be used, but basic pedals should be included. By the time my son got the bike to school it had a flat tire. I called the store to see if they could service the tire if my son drove the bike back to town and they said maybe. You gotta be kidding me. Find a decent store where the sales people will treat you well and not nickle and dime you to death.

Youre probably better off purchasing a bike from a true local bike shop for a couple reasons: 1) You usually get fitted at other shops. Where they put you on a trainer and make sure the bikes fits you right - I was never offered that here. 2) Other shops usually give you the first tune-up free after youve broken in the bike. but this place does offer some of the better prices in town. They have in house brands of clothing and accessories which are decent quality for the prices. Some of their name brand items can be had for good prices as well such as pumps, lube, tires, etc. Overall, its a huge shop that has a ton of stuff. You can get a nice bike here if you know what youre doing and looking for. One of the best parts of this shop is that you can buy stuff off their website and have it shipped to their store for free. Check it out!

I was visiting a friend in Atlanta (I was traveling from Virginia) and we planned to go for a long bike ride Sunday morning. I pulled my bike from my car and found that a crucial part was broken. It was 9 am on Sunday and we knew the shop was closed. Nonetheless, we stopped by Performance on Northeast Expressway and we spotted someone in the back. They took pity on me and opened the store. My part was hard to find (a collar to hold the seat post in place for a non standard bike), but they had what I needed. I would like to express my deep appreciation for their help. I think the mechanic was Kathy. Everyone was super helpful and it ended with me on my old friend having a fantastic ride. Thank you Performance Bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
