The good: Performances return policy/satisfaction guarantee: Check their site for specifics, but Ive never had issues with returns, defective parts, or something just not quite working out that they werent happy to fix. The bike mechanics: Kevin (the head tech and all around awesome guy) and the other mechanics provide quality work at great turn around times. Ive personally walked in with a badly out of true wheel and had things taken care of while I shopped around the store! Selection: You wont be buying your boutique bikewear, carbon fiber wonder parts, or high end suspension here, but if you need a chain, shifters, brake pads, or even tools they have you covered. The house brand components and tools are usually good quality for the price. The bad: SUPER inconsistent staffing/sales service: Some days you walk right in and are greeted by friendly staff who are eager (and knowledgeable), other days you walk in and the only guy you can find is the mechanic in the back. Ive had days where I literally had to wait over five minutes to pay for my items. The neutral: "Sale" Prices: If its not on sale this week, especially house brand/performance exclusive gear, consider waiting a few days and it will almost certainly drop in price. Performance loves rotating whats on sale. Team Performance membership: They like to push joining their buyers club, and it can be worth if youre buying a lot of stuff. Its about $30/year and you get at least 10% back in store credit, sometimes more if its a promotional weekend. The bikes: They sell bikes across a LOT of price points. A lot of the lower priced bikes are specced for impressive data sheets/inexperienced customers WOW factor. Ive never seen anything mechanically dangerous/unsound roll out the door, but there are definitely a few products that I would not recommend. Fortunately, the staff really seems like they want to get people out riding and will steer buyers towards the most bike for their budget. Worst case scenario, you can always use that performance guarantee to get something better.

Ive been considering upgrading from my mountain bike to a street bike for quite some time now and when my wife and I were casually browsing at this store over the weekend, I noticed a sign that said they accepted trade ins. So I went home, loaded my mountain bike into my van, and took it up to the shop to see if they could put me on a road bike. Id already made up my mind to buy one, even if my mountain bike was only worth $50... I was ready to pull the trigger. When I got back to the store, I was shocked at how rude and condescending some of the people on staff here were to me. Not only did the technician evaluating my mountain bike look pissed that he was having to take time out of his day to evaluate my bike, he made it a point after 15 minutes of going over it to tell me that it wasnt worth anything, the frame was scratched, the chain needed replacement, the tire tube was bad... but it was like he was trying to insult me. I have never had such horrible customer service when I walked into a place and TOLD them that I wanted to spend money at their store. He could have said, "Well give you $10 for it," and I would have accepted that and bought a bike from you! Instead he said, "Im sure its worth something to someone somewhere," and sent me on my way. So, I went down the street to a competitor (who refuses to accept trade-ins), they fitted me for a $1,000 Specialized, and I bought it. Picture included. Im incredibly happy with it and will not be returning to Performance Bicycle in the future. I highly recommend you go down the street to Montgomery and visit the bike shop there. Not only are they more helpful, but they dont condescend to you, they dont insult you, and they dont make you feel bad if youre not Bobby Bicycle, Tour De France wannabe. You guys need some customer service training, STAT.

I purchase a commuter bicycle as a birthday gift for my son to use at college. My son did not really pay attention to it until it was time to go to college and then decided it was not the correct type for him. Paul W., the store manager, could not have been better. Despite the fact that we did not have our receipt, Paul found it in the computer (not as easy as you may think) and gave us a full refund on the bicycle. Paul worked with us to find a bicycle that y son loves and kept the price within $30 of our original purchase price. The store closed at 8:00pm - Paul stayed late that night to make sure we had the best bicycle, that is was properly fit, and that we were happy with our purchase. I have been to other stores (as I bet you have) where they simply try to move merchandise. If that has ever been your experience, I HIGHLY recommend you go to Performance Bicycle. Paul and his staff are committed to a great customer experience. I will never purchase a bicycle from another store.

Solid middle of the road feeling with Performance Bike. The prices are fantastic. And the clearance Rack is awesome. Most of the gear Ive been buying has come from that rack. The employees are not very personable. With the exception of 2 people. Mike, the gentlemen that leads the intermediate group ride and the tech that worked on the Team USA bicycle team. His name is slipping my mind. This is a corporate store with a corporate feeling. As far as their online service. I would venture away from it. They post that they have product in stock, at the warehouse, then will back-order it and will not cancel the ticket. If they dont have it in the store. Just consider them not having it.

Great price on bikes, parts, and services. I often shop around for deals and they have consistently low prices. Great service on multiple visits. Kevin and Web are very knowledgeable, friendly, and I excellent mechanics with some impressive backgrounds/experiences. I will never hesitate to take my bikes (even one bought elsewhere) to them for any type of service. Only thing I didnt like when initially purchasing the bike was not much attention to detail on the fitting, but theres other experts in the area for that. You cant really expect a store like this to specialize in bike fit too.

This place is great! My son just started at OSU and wanted his bike - which he hadnt ridden in about five years - to get around the large campus.I took wheeled the bike out of the garage and took it to Performance to get it maintenanced. The technician was very honest and helpful. He put air in the tires, checked the breaks and gears, and said everything looked good. I asked for his recommendation for a lock, and he showed me his favorite (and it wasnt the highest priced one). He even mounted a storage bracket for the lock, at no charge. Very friendly and professional also.

3 years ago, I bought a Fuji Cross 2.0 from them. They changed the small chain ring from a 36 to a 34 teeth as a courtesy upgrade, on a new bike. That was nice. I took the bike to Sough America, one year later, and the left crank started creaking. They took the time to show me the how to adjust the bottom bracket. The bike is in South America for good, and the creak is gone! I got the torque meter from them and adjusted the crank. Thank you Performance!
