My husband and I have been mostly pleased with our experience with Performacne Bicycle Dayton. We shopped around elsewhere first, before checking out the selection at Performance Bicycle. We were happy to see that they had sales on the bikes as well as the equipment. Chris, one of the managers, was very helpful on our first visit. He was patient, informative, and walked us through finding the right bikes for us. We left without purchasing anything that day, but came back 2 days later to purchase. On our second visit, we had someone else assisting us who was new to the shop, but was helpful too. We test rode a few other bikes before deciding on the 2 we wanted. The bikes we wanted were not in stock, so they said they would order them without extra cost, which was fine by us. Id rather have a new bike and wait for it to be delivered than buy one that has been ridden as a test bike in the shop. The 3rd visit there to pick up the bikes, we were helped again by Chris and by Kyle...again, both guys were super helpful. My husband wasnt with me, so I didnt test ride the bikes before leaving the shop (and I should have), so I would recommend others doing that, because we did have to bring them back for a few things to be adjusted. The adjustments were done quickly, though, and Richard was great in walking us through some things to know about the bikes after he tuned them up. I would recommend this store to others.

Bottom Line Up Front: This place was horrible - Whitmans Ride Shop in Moraine is definitely a better alternative. I went into Performance Bikes looking for a new triathlon bike, but when I found a bike I liked the salesman left me, mid-sentence, to assist a busty middle-age woman instead -- selling her the very bike I was holding. When I found another bike that seemed like it would work, I asked a different associate to help me and he informed me that I couldnt ride/try the bike before buying and that I should come back another day if I wanted to be helped. Besides the ridiculous customer service, the prices were higher than other shops and the bikes were illogically arranged, making it impossible to find the best cycle on your own. The store was crowded, the staff refused to order in bikes in other sizes, and they were both unhelpful and prejudice against those appearing less affluent.

I visited this store today with my daughter. I intended to purchase a new bike for her and some accessories for myself as well as inquiring about repair pricing. When we walked into the store there was a group of people, nobody said hi. I proceeded to browse and found an item I planned to purchase. I walked back to the repair area because it was the first place that I saw employees who were not currently helping a customer. I stood at the counter as one employee kept looking at me, never saying hi or asking if he could direct me to someone to help me. Two other employees kept walking by me and never acknowledged me. It was so incredibly rude. I returned my item to its original location and walked out of the store. The service was so horrible. I will not recommend this store to anyone. Thankfully I proceeded to K&G Bike Center in Kettering and had a great experience.

Went to performance bike today to get my front wheel trued. The mechanic took a look at it and let me know he could fix it and about how much it would cost. After about 15 minutes he went on to tell that the earliest he could fix it was like three weeks from today. Of course I was in all about this so I asked how long something like that takes? He said about twenty minutes and got a real crappy attitude with my inquiry. The end result was me leaving with my rim and calling links and kinks in fairborn who told me to come on down. The man at links and kinks trued my rim in about 4 minutes and didnt even charge me. It took performance a half hour to tell me it was gonna be three weeks. Bottom line is go to a locally owned shop if you want good service.

Go here if: you know EXACLTY the part/bike you need and dont need help picking it or if you want a deal and are not particular about brand. Go elsewhere if: you are new to cycling, need one-on-one service, need your bike serviced, you need spokes replaced or wheels trued (Performance doesnt stock spokes), you like to support local business, you want a bike tuned up in a timely fashion, you prefer more reputable brands of bikes. Bottom line: Performance is a RETAIL shop. Its the big box store of cycling. Nearby local shops like the Kettering Bike Shop or K&G Bike Center are SERVICE shops and hold a closer relationship with their patrons. Also, there is no bike rack out front of their shop. Seriously, cmon.

Very nice selection. That was it. The bike that I first liked they did not have in stock. Second one suggested by sales guy was well over $200 more than the first - the floor model was a little small but I test rode it and loved it. So I am ready to buy and the guy tells me "We dont have any of this one in stock and cant get any more of them but we have another for only $150 more" I ask about it and the answer... wait for it... "we have some in back but I have no idea when we will get them put together" Seriously? $900 and you cant find a way to assemble it? Of course, no discount for assembling it myself. Terrible way to run a business.

I have had nothing be great service and customer care from this store. I bought my first road bike from them in 2014. I bought my first mountain bike from them in 2015. They go above and beyond every time I am in the store. It can be busy in the store at times, and deciding on a bicycle can be daunting, so being patient at busy times in the summer will go a long way. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and provide a comprehensive sales experience. Friendly staff and great mechanics keep me coming back for apparel and equipment. I tell all my friends and family looking to get into cycling to go see the Performance Team!

If i could give no stars i would. Dropped bike off for wheel truing after calling ahead and was told it would be ready the same day (Monday), this was not the case. We agreed to let them keep the bike till Saturday morning after the tech asked if he could have a day or so. Called Friday evening and was told they need another four days and they had not touched it yet. Went in to get the bike to take it to a professional local shop (Tipp Cyclery) and was met by an old ignorant tech who pointed and said their it is. So if you appreciate being lied to and treated rudely then Performance bike is for you.
