Review from 2004: Pedal Power was the first bike shop I ever went (highly recommended by a BCC friend) to and Billy, the owner, is a great guy. He was very patient with all my questions, encouraged me to test out some gear and even had some great sales going on. Ive bought gloves, 2 pairs of shoes, numerous cleats and recently pedals from his shop over the past 7 years and never felt ripped off or taken advantage of. Hes helped me get back on my feet after a couple wrecks and ordered supplies he didnt carry in stock at no extra charge. I feel he is being misrepresented and would encourage anyone in Lex to stop by and decide for themself. Review from 9-18-14: Back in Lexington after 7 years at EKU. This place is a 10 minute walk from UK campus when your crank is litterally crumbling with every stroke, they gave me some tips on the phone to help me "ride" it over and were very friendly and thorough pointing out where and how they would fix me up. Said they may even be able to squeeze it in today (I didnt even ask, they volunteered this!!). Allan was the Tech, Billy is still the owner (and a great guy), and I cant remember my over the phone guy who also helped out when I rolled it in, but he was terrific as well. Ill be back to shop pumps and some other gear very soon!

This summer I purchased a Gaint Trance X 29ER as well as having 1992 Cannondale touring bike rebuilt. I am returning to bicycling after a break to recover from back surgery. This was my first experience as a new customer at the bike shop in Lexington. I have had a lifetime interest in bicycling and enjoyed road and touring bikes over the years. My experience at Pedal Power was excellent! I have had some wonderful experiences at bike shops over the years but my experience at Pedal Power was the best of any to date! John Baumstark along with Josh and others worked with us. John helped me select the bike along with conducting a "fitting" for both the new bike as well as my touring bike. He spent hours with us picking out accessories and going over the details of the bike. The assistance and attention to detail were outstanding! We also purchased a trailer hitch mounted bike rack for two bikes and we love it! In closing, I am so grateful I met John. No one could have had more patience with someone new to mountain/trail bikes as well as having the expertise I was seeking as I returned to the sport! Thanks again to John and all the staff at Pedal Power. P.S I am looking forward to returning and getting a bike for my wife to enjoy as well! George and Jan

It has been over 15 years since I have last rode a bike and from the looks when I first walked in, a lot has changed. Even though it was rather busy, someone asked if I needed help within my first minute of walking into the shop. After I told them what I was looking for, he went and had an associate help me. She walked me through different models they may be of interest to me, explained the pros and cons of all of them. Even though they were busy, I never once felt rushed into making a decision. It was rather impressive watching them juggle all the customers in the shop without looking pressured at all about the volume of traffic the shop was seeming to get. I always strive to buy local and experiences like this is what keeps me buying local. From a beginners stand point it exceeded my expectations by a large margin. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this shop.

Pedal Power is a bike shop that I have enjoyed doing business with personally for almost 9 years. I purchased my first road bike there in 2006 and most recently upgraded to my new bike this year. I believe they rate 5 stars based on the personal service and care I have received as their customer. I had a bike fitting there a couple of years ago, and was so impressed with the expertise displayed with that process. It made such a difference in the way I felt on my bike. They have my fitting measurements saved, so my new bike was adjusted based on them. Alan was very patient as he fit the new bike to me and made it clear that my satisfaction and comfort was his priority. I appreciate the friendly service and their committment to promote cycling in Lexington.

Pedal Power is a fantastic bike shop, with a truly great team of people. They are very personable and highly knowlegable. Many of the staff have engaged in intensive product-specific workshops and hold certifications from professional bike fit schools. The shop is very versatile and can cater to a complete beginner as well as a seasoned pro. In addition to great service and products, the shop is a pillar in the local community and gives a lot of time and money to local charities, bicycle advocacy, and great family events such as "Bike Lexington" in which they have been the title sponsor for many years. Pedal Power is a great example of a model local business.

Went to Pedal Power and purchased two new Giant mountain bikes and some accessories for the wife and I and was very impressed and pleased with the amount of service, information, and attention we received from the staff - espically John. I hadnt been on a bike in nearly 20years and so we spent several hours with John easily, asking him questions, getting his opinion, test riding bikes, looking at accessories. John was a HUGE help as was the rest of the staff who quickly got our new bikes ready and accessories installed. I will certainly be visiting Pedal Power for future purchases! Thank you John and Pedal Power, you guys rock! Love the bikes by the way!

A cracked rim threatened to ruin our Horsey Hundred. Generally not a huge problem except it is a tandem wheel and we are 500 miles from home. Billy and the team at Pedal Power called around to other shops and their supplier and had a replacement shipped, the bike repaired and ready to go in less than 18 hours. Cannot say enough about the friendly service and the willingness to go the extra mile for customers who are not regulars/locals. We were able to enjoy the Horsey on a bike that rode better than when we brought it down. Lexington is fortunate to have a local shop like Pedal Power.

I highly recommend Pedal Power. Got a bike fitting done by John and Stephanie and they did an amazing job. They were so professional, I had no idea how extensive a fitting could be. I am a recreational/fitness rider that was looking to be as comfortable as possible on the bike. They are extremely knowledgeable and made every effort to make my fitting work for me. I would recommend them if you are a competitive cyclist or more of a casual rider like myself. Everyone in the shop is friendly and helpful. Little longer drive for me but well worth the time!

Pedal Power is the only bike shop I will go to. The staff is awesome! They go above and beyond with their service. They have a great selection and if their is something they dont have in store they kindly order it for you with no problems. I always recommend them to anyone who is looking for a local bike shop. They have helped me so much. I got my first hybrid there when I was a kid and I still have it. I also purchased my first road bike from them that I absolutely love. They truly care about their customers!
