I am a soldier in the Army Reserves and recently decided that I wanted to get my first tattoo. After doing some research I came across American Classic Tattoo off Baxter Street in Athens, GA. I wanted to get a simple design of the American flag on my right shoulder so I went in for a consultation. I sat down with Brian who drew out the design for my tattoo. The sketch looked good, he told me itd be $80 so I went with it. After getting the work done I went home and began to look at the tattoo. The stripes were not straight, the stars looked extremely sloppy and were not straight, and there were many places where it looked like he got distracted and small marks are coming out of the lines. Overall this tattoo is TERRIBLE. I am now going to have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it lasered off so that I can get something done by a better artist done over it years from now when it is healed up from the laser. I was so excited to get my first tattoo and could not believe how badly it turned out. I am embarrassed to take my shirt off around other people because of it. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo here DO NOT. Go somewhere else that has quality artists who care about the ink they are putting on your body.

I went in with a group of friends. I wasnt sure what I wanted tattooed for sure, I just knew I wanted an Ankh or a chest piece. The owner not only didnt want to do my chest piece, but was a complete dick to me after I corrected his spelling on my friends chest piece.He wanted to put Reckless with a W.. So then I decided on a basic Ankh for my forearm(I was overcharged by like $20 for a basic black Ankh), and I was asking one of the other artists to do it after the implication with the owner. He told them no he was doing mine, and proceeded to do the tattoo. I went back after it healed since some of the shading didnt go all the way to the the outline, and there was more marbling then necessary. The day I went in to get it re-shaded, the owner argued with me for 15 minutes about it not needing to be redone, and then finally said he would after he was done feeding his daughter in like 30 minutes. I walked out and have not regretted going back. Aces and Eights has done a better job with all of my tattoos now and even redid the one he wouldnt fix. I DO NOT recommend this shop for any reason unless the owner is not there. He was a dick.

My wife and I both got tattoos here and were very happy with the work and attitude of these guys. Weve been to several other tattoo places over the years and sadly the trend seems to be that tattoo shop employees/artists feel the need to be rude in order to be "legit" (especially if the customer doesnt look like a roadie who just stepped off 5 years with the Rob Zombie tour). Not sure why thats the case, but look at just about any comments on tattoo places and thats typically a huge complaint. These guys however, were friendly and did great work at a reasonable price, so Ill definitely be back the next time I get some work done.

This has been one of the most pleasurable experiences iv ever had at a shop. The guys her are very nice and honest also the shop was VERY VERY VERY CLEAN! The man who tattooed me. "Wish I got his name" (owner) gave me advise on a piece I wanted done on my hand location and size he swayed me to change a couple of things and the way he explained it to me I could tell he knew what he was doing. The end result being one of my best tattoos so far. If I could put in in a couple of words all I could say is best tattoo shop in Athens by far. I really hope this reveiw sways you to come to this shop. Good people like this are hard to find!

I got my nose pierced here and all I can say is that these people are probably some of the most comforting in their line of work! I went from having a mild heart attack to feeling like I was invincible just because they explained the procedure and post-care very thoroughly! Ive run into problems with employees acting like douche bags at tattoo and piercing parlors and its refreshing to see that these people havent followed that trend! I highly recommend going here for piercings! Unfortunately, I havent gotten a tattoo here, but I trust them with any future tattoos.

What can I say? They did my first and third tattoos, and did a great job. They were fast, relatively inexpensive, and were very honest. The only reason I give four stars instead of five is that theyre a little too honest, brutally so. I mean, I understand if something is not feasible, but they dont always say it in a nice way. Of course, on the flip side, I would rather feel annoyed at having to alter my idea than to have someone tell me they could do it and then do it poorly. Certainly not the friendliest, but they keep me coming back despite that fact.

Recently went in to get my first professional tattoo and loved it! The staff is very likeable and pretty much awesome. Im not much of a talkative person, but I was pleased to get all the information I needed without any concerns. I had drawn my own design and with a couple minor changes to it, for best quality, it turned out perfect. It was a pleasure being tattooed there! I will for sure be returning for more, hopefully soon!

I went /years/ ago to get my lip piercing done. The staff was very friendly and it was basically an in and out job for me. Planning to go back and get the piercing re-done since it closed up after about six months (my fault for losing the ring). Ive recommended American Classic to friends because of my experience and they werent disappointed, either.

Fantastic shop! Friendly atmosphere and very cool staff! I have been tattooed and pierced here and highly recommend this shop to the newbie and the already modified. I am extensively tattooed and have been VERY pleased with this shop. This shop dos not have the bad attitude that the so-called #1 voted shop in Athens has! Great place!

I came in for a lip piercings; was treated with respect and care. Josh took me in right away, showed me all of the sterilzed products (they use a new needle and bar every single time). It was completely painless and price was resonable (40 bucks). I will totally be going back.

Got a piercing done here because of all the good reviews but got a botched job done here. Simple ear piercing and a piercer that wont admit when hes in the wrong. Will never be returning here.
