Store needs major overhaul in management and staffing. As large as this particular store is, they NEVER seem to have enough staff on the floor that appear ready, willing, and able to assist customers. We have been loyal customers since this store opened and yet it still feels like a store that is still trying to "find its way." Secondly, they never seem to have current special flyers. Ive purchased six (6) creatures at this location in the past six months (you do the math). I even purchased a Russian Dwarf hamster that had been returned by the previous customer - most likely because of his almost "evil" demeanor. Now, he is the most gentlest, sweetest little furrball who loves to be held, petted, and loved. In addition to Pavel, weve purchased, two guinea pigs, another hamster, and our recent darling - a gerbil - whose environment at the store (no matter how many times we visited over a two week period), was always in disarray. Derpy is definitely an "interesting," little guy with endless energy. He requires near constant stimulation. His "tank" at the store always looked like a hurricane had just come through. Maybe a little chew toys - a paper towel role (or something), would have helped this little guy "put his best foot forward," in trying to find a forever home. In any case, each time we purchase a new animal, they seem to be out of the store coupon flyers that go along with the purchase of a new pet although we did receive (once) a lovely red bag. Last night, we "ran in," as we always seem to be doing - for a few things for the "critters," who live in our home. We made sure to have one of the coupons from our last purchase. As is always always the case, we spent (way over), the required $25 purchase to enjoy the $5 discount. The coupon was only days out in expiration. I am certain - from all of my years in fast food, retail, etc., - that the cashier could have either honored the coupon or asked for assistance/support in honoring the coupon. I made it a point to mention that I spent as much as I did BECAUSE I planned on using the coupon (THAT WAS WHAT BROUGHT ME INTO THE STORE THAT NIGHT - THAT VISIT). I warned her that I was feeling very disappointed, frustrated, and unappreciated as a regular customer. If Petco is willing to lose a loyal, regular, customer over $5, and is not willing to use some of the money they are already to making to keep the Tarpon Springs store adequately and capably staffed, we can - most assuredly - spend our pet dollars elsewhere - like PetSupermarket. Even some of the local retail stores (Walgreens, WalMart, WinnDixie, etc), carry comparable pet care supplies with competitive pricing. Hope your visit is better.

The worst place to take your dog.. The groomers are inexperienced and not friendly at all.. We took our two pups in to have their nails trimmed.. Huge mistake. They are now traumatized. Thanks Petco for mishandling our babies! We were right there we watched as they tied our pups up to a wall and fought them rather than being gentle and realizing that they were scared as they have never been tied up as well as have never had anyone come at them with a dremel as I told them beforehand if they dont like the dremel try clippers.. Simple done.. Two of the most loving friendly pups and they had the nerve to say one was aggressive.. We were right there! There was no aggression in any form! Ignorance with a paycheck! Only in Florida I swear!

I purchased 2 cat harnesses. One fit perfectly so I took the other back to the store. I unfortunately misplaced the receipt. It wasnt in the bag. Simple enough give me a merchandise credit and I will purchase some car litter. No. People steal these cat harnesses so we cant give you a refund w/o a receipt, said the clerk. I dont want a cash refund. I just want to exchange the harness for something I can use. She points to some writing on the counter top (which is covered with merchandise). Oh, I said. Then no I dont want the liter. I bought the little cat toy and left. I won t be going there again. Ive purchased hundreds of dollars in merchandise since I got my cat in September 2016. Sad

Store staffing is horrible. Waited 20 minutes for service. Only two employees working on a Friday afternoon. Asked for assistance from cashier, other associate walked past, ignored me, and went back to cleaning fish tanks never acknowledging my presence. Extra star only due to the fact that they had the products I needed.

Well stocked store with friendly personnel. Clerks were extremely helpful when I needed suggestions on what to buy to keep my puppy from chewing on the wall. One clerk even told me about a coupon promotion I had no idea about. Will definitely go back there again.
