about five weeks ago i bought a white face cockteil and she seemed a little sick when i purchased her she sneezed everyonce and awhile so i called the vet he told me to just keep an eye on her and make sure she is drinking and eating, she was doing great until yesterday i took her to the vet at 5pm and the vet said she had by far the worst case of bird chlamydia he has seen. He even sent her xrays to the University of Georgia. Yesterday night my poor baby passed away due to her sickness i am beyond pissed that they would sell me a sick bird. i called them today to let them know what happen and to tell them if my bird had chlamydia then most likely the other birds do as well since she had such a horrible case she had gotten it from another bird. she couldnt have gotten from anywhere else as she was my only bird. they continued to say that all of there birds were in perfect health which is bullshit since my bird was sick means there are other birds there thats have them same nasty disease, the vet which i saw even asked me if i had purchased her from this pet store before i could even say the name he has had many other birds come in with the same disease from this exact pet store. coincidence i think not. i am very upset she was such a sweet bird. i will never purchase another animal from this place.

Ok me being very enthusiastic about animals and wildlife I was completely disappointed.. the staff is super nice and all but they do not take care of their animals the way they are supposed to... I went in and during my visit I took a look at my favorite things in the world - water turtles- and there was a deceased snapping turtle and when I pointed out the one being dead floating in the water amongst its friends they simply acknowledged it was dead and just left it floating.... I was completely upset. When looking at some of the fish as well some were gasping for their life maybe the oxygen level in the tanks was too low but they were not healthy at all... the tanks were also dirty... I also do not like the bedding they used with most of the animals it was wood chopping a whxixh causes splitters to get lodged in their stomachs and causes internal bleeding and then to get extremely sick to the point of death.... I will not be going back because this makes me too upset but any by of info I could share to change this is what I will supply.

My girlfriend and I made an hour trip to come here because the exotic pets in port Richey is great and we wanted to check this one out. This place was not taken care of well. It honestly pissed me off seeing how horrible the tanks were taken care of. The entire frag tank was dead and bleached corals. I counted 7 dead saltwater fish across the tanks and also 4 sick fish with visible ice and marine velvet. I have my own saltwater tanks and a reef tank and I was so disgusted with how they treat this wildlife. Their largest display for corals was completely overrun with green algae and more bleached coral skeletons. The freshwater fish were not looking to good either. The whole place was very dirty. If you care about animals or fish/corals at all do not come here and support their business its a shame. It doesnt take an expert to see how poorly everything is taken care of and the staff are acting like nothing is wrong up front smiling and joking around while their entire aquarium selection is dying or dead.

My family and I went this past Saturday 8/20/16 and purchased a lutino cockatiel. Hailey spent the whole time with us helping us pick just the right one. We drove up from St Petersburg to find our new birdy friend. We got an incredible bird at a great price! We couldnt find one at the price we paid in St Pete. She lets us hold her all the time, will sleep on my shoulder, eat from our hand and loves to be with us. We were so thrilled we went back today (8/25/16) and got another cockatiel! Hes still a little unsure of us, but would still step up and sit on our hand. Thank you so much to the staff for helping us and being so wonderful!

The shop looks descent, the employees were nice, but the fact that irritated me was the fact that when i bought the iguana he had mites on him and he died three weeks later. I called and yelled at the shop keeper or the manager, and he said "sorry we dont have to tell you all of the health issues, and i can give you a discount." Im sorry but a discount doesnt equal the death of a loved pet. Even though we had him for three weeks we took him everywhere and loved him. DO NOT GO HERE, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU WILL END UP WITH.

This store has an amazing variety of different interesti g and unique animals. From their fish and birds to their reptiles all the animals are in emaculent condition and seem verry happy. The employees are very helpful and almost seem to go out of their way to assist you. The owner of the store Gary Foster whom has been in buissness since 1975 ; fourty-one years is one of the most knowledgeable retailers i have ever met. All around awesome family owned store !!

Just from reading the past reviews I can tell its hard to be in the pet business. These people have been in Tarpon Springs for many, many years. It was time today to get my son a pet and we headed over to Fosters Exotic Pets. He found what he was looking for and gathered all the needed supplies. The folks are friendly, its non-corporate and independently owned and we like that.

I have been going here since they were in the Tarpon Plaza, and they only got better since they moved. They have an amazing selection of pet supplies and pets, and the fish area is one of a kind with some of the most interesting fish ever. Prices are really good. Its a family run business, and theyre all always very helpful and personable. Wouldnt go anywhere else!

we brought home a tri color bunny we named margarita. and she died within 14 hours of having her. the vet dgave me an official document that states . she was malnourished, dehydrated, and too skinny. the vet tried to save her life with critical care medicine and oral medicine but she passed away unfortunately. will never do any business again with this man

I bought a hedgehog and asked before I bought it if it wasnt working out if I can return it. The granddaughter of the owner said "Im sure my grandfather will work with you." The hedgehog got progressively less friendly, hisses and has bit my daughter. They refused to take him back and denied ever telling me that they would take him back.

Have done business with Gary Foster for years. Buy all of my saltwater tank supplies, fish food and all of, majority of my fish, thru. the years from him. Hes very knowledgeable and attentive to customers needs. He truly is the best, have much respect for him and would recommend him, his store to everyone I know.
