Im not a big fan of this BookHolders. For one, anytime I sell a book here I always look at what they are currently selling the book for. I took in a book that they were sell for $50, same edition listed as on the website and the condition was pretty much new. They wanted to pay me $3 on the spot for it, and I ended up putting the book on consignment and got about $20. I know that this is a business, but seriously, $3. Second, they are so disrespectful to the campus. I have no problem with them handing out flyers to advertise, but when they just go into classrooms and leave flyers on all of the desks it makes the rooms a complete mess. Lecture halls are littered with over 200 flyers on the floor. Someone has to clean those up, and I never see a BookHolders employee come back in and pick up the flyers. Ive sat in a lecture hall after one class got out and saw an employee place more flyers on a desk, even though there were still 100s on the floor from the last class. So disrespectful to the employees at USF who try and keep the lecture halls looking nice.

I have never left a business so frustrated. I ordered a brand new book from bookholders, and when it showed up, it was damaged. I was paying the price of a brand new book, for one that looked like it had been used. There were scratches all over the cover and back, as well as a rip in the bottom from "the delivery process." I spoke to the shipment manager, who told me there was nothing he could do for me besides return the book. I need it to do my assignments now. So now Im ordering another book from somewhere else. They should have at LEAST given me the used book price. And the "management" was no help at all. There is no management. There isnt a corporate office or anyone else that I could have spoken to besides this 18 year old shipment manager who had no idea what he was talking about. They are running a business, and I payed full price for a damaged book. By far the worst costumer service I have ever experienced. If they have a used book to buy, see it first. Do not EVER order a "brand new" book from bookholders.

My perspective for this store has dramatically changed! Sure they have very cheap prices (I found a paper copy of a text book I needed for less than a $1) but theyre only in it for the money! I have had experiences where Ive bought things I dont need or wanted to return something but they do not even ask about why you want to return the items. I rented a textbook last semester and when I returned it, I had to pay $55 for a "new" book because the one I rented had water damage that wasnt even on pages people would read. At first I agreed with them but when I went to return a rental to the USF bookstore, they were much quicker in checking for damage. This place looks for damage like theyre trying to find a needle in a haystack! Sadly. this store values dollar signs instead of customer satisfaction. I understand money keeps a business open but you will never make the profits you want if you take advantage of potential customers. I dont care if I spend more money elsewhere, I will never use this store again!

Re: CASH-PAYING customers are ....DISCRIMINATED AGAINST ....at the BookHolders, Tampa, FL store The Florida Department of Revenue declared August 7 through August 16, 2015 to be a Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday. As such, NO SALES TAX is to be collected on certain school supplies. Additionally, the Florida House and Senate passed a law providing a 1 year sales-tax exemption on all college textbooks, beginning July 1, 2015. This law doe NOT stipulate that tax-free college textbook purchases should be limited strictly to credit card purchases! I was just at the BookHolders, Tampa, FL store to purchase two books with cash. I was told that unless I paid by credit card, I would be charged sales tax. This is DISCRIMINATORY, AND it is ILLEGAL. !!! CONSUMERS BEWARE !!! (I opted to purchase my books elsewhere)

If your going to sell your books here get cash on the spot. I listed my book with advantage and it sold over a month ago but I still havent received a check. Every time I stop by they tell me 2 more weeks (they only issue a couple checks, once every 2 weeks). Everyone else Ive sold to has issued a check within days of receiving/selling my book. Im all for supporting local business but save yourself the fustration on this one and avoid this company.

These reviews are trash. Used Book holders for two in a half years while going to USF. Never had any issues and always sold my books. Obviously some people saying they didnt sell because they probably tried to sell way after semester ended. Staff is respectful and always helps when needed. Store is clean and organized so you can find everything you need quickly. They sell caps and gowns for way way way lower prices as well, which is a great .

I was sent an email saying that one of my books had sold & that if I couldnt pick up the check it would be mailed to me a week later. . .its now an entire month later and I still have yet to receive a check. I reached out to their support line, no response. So basically what theyve done is sold my books & made a profit without giving me anything.

This place sucks. They will not send you your money, I had to go through managers and managers to have someone tell me that they were holding checks. Go to the store before they mail out the check to get your money. I have been waiting over two weeks now when they said they would mail it to weeks ago.

I had one spot, smaller than a dime, and these jokes wouldnt buy a book because of it. You cant even see it but it has a wrinkle from "water damage" . Do not sell or buy from these people unless you want to be ripped off. If I had any other choice in tampa I would go there immediately.

Be careful when renting a book from them. I rented a book and only used it twice during the semester. When i returned the book they proceeded to tell me it was damaged, so I had to buy a new book to replace the "damaged" book. Sometimes their prices are better than competitors.

Ive consistently had bad experiences here. Books I ordered were late. They failed to notify me when my books arrived. They took months to process a check for a book I sold on their website. The only thing they seem to be good at it is giving you cash for buy-backs.

Came here to pick up a textbook rental. Store was supposed to open at 9 AM and its now 9:10 AM, still standing here waiting for employees to show up... Edit Its now 9:21. 2-3 other customers have also come and gone but still no employees. Terrible service.

Terrible. They told me the only way I could sell my books would be to give it to them on consignment. My books still have not been sold. Horrible customer service skills. They are catty and snobby. Youd have a better experience selling them somewhere else.

I would advise not selling your books through the Advantage program if you want to receive the check within a a month or two. Ive had my books sold for over a month, and I have yet to receive the fair share.
