This is the best (REAL hardware store) hardware store in Bay County. They have A LOT of stuff, not just whats on the floor, so ask the store employees WHEN they walk up to you to ask if you need any help, and they WILL. Dont be afraid to ask them questions - THEY HAVE ACTUAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HARDWARE. I was shocked as well. It appears that after years of shopping at "Depot" stores I had become brainwashed into thinking help from employees was something difficult and unreliable. I made it 4 feet inside the entrance and an employee walked up to me and asked me if he could help me find anything. He looked like the old man that ran the first hardware store I had ever been in, 40 years ago and half a continent away. I froze like a deer in the headlights. I have never had deja vu before. Cautiously, I described what I was in search of: masonry anchors for brick and some corrosion resistant fasteners. He led me directly to a selection of masonry anchors. I was bewildered by how many types and sizes they had in such a small space. The store really looks small inside. I slowly realized why. They dont have rows and rows of the same item over and over again. Each Item gets one spot (there is stuff on every surface). What happens when they run out on the shelf? Additional stock is kept is what is called "the back". Bear with me. Apparently when a shelf or spot is empty the employees refill it from this "back" area. The employees of the store. Not the customers. In this store, the responsibility for fetching the items the customer requires belongs to the employees of the store, not the customers. But hold onto your hat. He gave me advice. Real actual advice that was actually helpful. After I picked up the parts of my head that had blown off at that revelation, he led me to the stainless cage for the corrosion resistant fasteners. You can mentally replace the words "stainless cage" with the word "Elysium" if you want. I did. I had to pick up my skull parts again. They have every stainless fastener I have ever wanted and some I didnt know existed. In every type. I may have actually been drooling a little at this point. BUT WAIT: they actually know what they are for and what to call them, and they can retrieve them without help from managers or other imaginary entities. Many of them were even made in a place called "USA" which I am not familiar with, but I understand is a good place for bolts to come from. They were well made, I was expecting the normal roughly "machined" (if a grinder can be considered a "machine") Chinese nickle plated slag found at the "depot", but no, actual marine grade stainless, polished and everything. PAY ATTENTION CAR GUYS AND BOAT OWNERS, THEY HAVE YOUR FASTENERS, AND THE METRIC ONES TOO. At no point did he run away with promises to page an imaginary entity or directions to an isle that does not exist. When I had selected everything I needed he carried the items to the register and rung me up himself. HE CARRIED THE ITEMS. I am not an old lady or anything, I swear. At one point there was an item he needed a price for. I mentally settled in for a long wait per my training. He opened what is apparently known as a "book" which had all the prices in it. For everything. No, Really, no calls to "departments" over PA systems or anything. 5 seconds later he had the price. Revolutionary. They even have replacement knobs for the appliances I bought at a "depot" store. Drill bits in 10 thousandth of an inch increments (I havent seen those outside of a machine tool store in 20 years). Left hand drill bits. Cast Iron pots and pans. 55 gal Drums. Crab traps. Silicone bronze fasteners. Hose of all types. Stainless cable. Stainless turn buckles. Stainless chain. Stainless hooks. parts to REBUILD THINGS, rather than replace them. Well pumps MADE OF METAL. Sprinklers MADE OF METAL. Rope, line and cord of all types. This store has my business for life.

This hardware store is a remnant from the golden days of customer service. Old fashioned service with modern tools! I came in for a pipe cutting and threading and they were immensely helpful every step of the way. For being the only place around that does pipe threading, you wouldnt know it by their prices.

I stood in the store for 30 to 45 minutes without anyone helping me. It seemed like the only people that were being helped were those they knew. Its unfortunate because I try very hard to support the smaller businesses in the area.
