I dont know why this place is so highly rated. When my engine was overheating I went here only because they are closer home. Big mistake, I should have stuck with my trusted mechanic even though they are some distance away. First they said it is because of a faulty fan assembly. So I had it replaced. Things were fine for a few days but I started seeing overheating issues again. When I took the car back, they kept it for a day and returned it saying that they couldnt get it to overheat! I continued to drive the car until the head gasket blew. It is a major repair but I got it done none the less. They delivered the car on the agreed upon day. On the way home, I observed that the ABS light came on in dashboard. I had zero lights on before the head gasket incident. Worse, after I drove it back home, the car wouldnt start again. So, they arranged the car to be towed back to the garage. The towing guy took one look at the engine and found a dangling electrical wire. He loosely put it in place and the car started. Back at the shop, when I told the mechanic that the ABS light is on, he said it had always been like that! None the less, once they fixed the electrical connections, it went away. So, finally I have a car that does start but on the way home I observed that the engine vibrates as I press the gas pedal sometimes. I called them up about it and they said give it some time as the engine is redone and it would take some time to smooth out. I drove it for several days and once again the engine started to overheat! I took the car back. The master technician found that a hose was leaking coolant. They apologized and fixed the hose. Meanwhile the engine vibration never went away. So I took it back but unfortunately I couldnt get it to vibrate when I drove it with the mechanic next to me. The first thing the mechanic mentioned was that the original mechanic who had worked on the car is no longer with them. The second thing he kept saying was that the work done so far had nothing to do with engine vibration. So, here I am with a car thats in much worse shape compared when this whole ordeal started, after spending 2.5K. They broke a plastic clip in the engine bay and wont fix it. I suspect that while the fan assembly might have been faulty to begin with, the leaking hose had always been there. Had they found it and fixed it, I could have avoided the whole head gasket problem. But, no they wouldnt look beyond anything. They flush the coolant system but dont check for leaks! Utterly incompetent shop. Avoid it if you can.

Im a local and would never go back. My experience started online by scheduling an appointment. I arrive 30 min prior to the appointment and was greeted by Alex. Long story short I was made to understand that you should never book online and only call this location for service appointments. I was informed that it was just a service online and that it doesnt in anyway reflect when your car may be seen for service. I was made to feel that it was my fault for even scheduling the service. I played back to the comments informing him on how that is a dissatisfaction to the customer service. he then pointed out to the parking lot. informing me to look at all those cars. I really couldnt believe I was hearing somebody complain because they had a lot of business. As I was providing my information I was then being informed on how I should go to a Super Center if I want "Red Carpet" service for an oil change. Then informed me on how its pretty much 30 min in and out. Nothing this guy said made me in any way want to stay nor want to ever come back. If he is looking for less work I can say Im one less Customer to ever come to this location. Other interesting comments from Alex. "Sometime you can come here first thing in the morning for an oil change and not get your car back until tomorrow." "Sometimes it can take 3 hours for an oil change" I was then ready to leave and he came back and said oh yours will take an hour and a half. Against my judgement I waited. Shockingly it only took 30 min, If it wasnt for all the other poor customer service skills It probably would have been a much better experience. So there is a chance I just got somebody having a poor day however Im concerned on the quality of the work. Ill need to check to verify my car has oil in it. I was missing a service sticker for when to return. Still just think its their way of having me not return. As this being my first Pep Boys experience I can say I wont be returning to this franchise anytime in the near or distant future. For those from out of town I feel that this place is a trap and you should seek out another location.

As a car enthusiast, I am *very* particular about who works on my vehicle. I make sure I perform ample research before dropping off my car, and I verify the quality of the work upon retrieval. This Pep Boys location had stellar reviews, and after visiting them, I can clearly see why. I dropped off a punctured tire from my Ford Focus ST at noon, and was helped by Manuel. Manuel was incredibly polite and quick. He promised a quick turnaround on my tire. Shortly thereafter, I received a call that it was complete. I got the opportunity to meet Vinny, the manager, and was very impressed with how well he managed his crew. All of his techs looked enthusiastic, and happy to be working for him. His techs swapped off my spare, and stored it properly in the trunk. I reviewed the plug at home and was very impressed - much better than I could have done, and one of the better jobs Ive seen. I *highly* recommend the Pep Boys center on McLeod Rd. You will not be disappointed with Vinny, Manuel, and their techs.

I was on my way home when my car stopped in the middle of the road. I saw the pep boys across the street so I thought they would help me since Im a potential customer. The 1st gentleman I spoke too said, " Sure , if you get more people." So I continued to go down to ask other mechanics. One mechanic laughed at me in my crisis and told me flat out no Id have better luck try to push it myself. I was furious at this point so I went inside to ask the gentlemen inside with the white tshirt if they could help me out. The nerve of this guy to tell me that I should call there towing service at $30-$40 dollars when my car was right there. I was so upset I left. I realized this place was money hungry and only one mechanic has good character thats definitely not a place Ill go to fix anything. I pushed my car by myself to the bank parking lot and in the end had it towed to another shop not pep boys.
