Whatever you do, AVOID Volvo of Fort Myers! This place has some of the WORST customer service I have encountered, especially the sales department. If you are looking for a new Volvo or service, this dealership is awful and you NEED to look elsewhere!! This past Saturday, we encountered an issue with our 2016 XC90 not starting. We were receiving a parking break error and it was causing the car to not turn on. Being only 2 miles away from Volvo of Fort Myers, we called our Volvo Roadside Assistance (roadside assistance was great) and requested a tow to the dealership. We asked Roadside to request a loaner for us as we had both our kids and needed a car to get home. Unfortunately, they stated they cannot do this and advised us to call the dealership. My wife called first and was immediately hung up on by the receptionist when asking to speak with someone regarding a loaner. Thinking this was an accident (we understand things happen) I called back to make the request. When the receptionist answered, I was told that there was nothing they can do since the dealership closed in 45 minutes! Mind you we were only 2 miles away with a tow truck only 15 minutes from us. I told her we really needed a car and asked if there was anything else they could do. She paused and transferred me to a manager. Armando immediately picked up the phone and without even inquiring about the situation, told me the dealership was closing in 45 minutes and that there was nothing they could do and we would have to wait until the Service Department opened Monday morning. I was taken aback by this, but still provided him with a brief overview of the situation and stated that we really needed a loaner due to our kids and their car seats. He still told us no, but then asked for my name so they can look us up in their system. When he said we weren’t in their system I informed Armando that we actually bought the car from Volvo of Bonita. Once he heard we bought the car from a different Volvo dealership, he became so incoherently rude I was absolutely astonished that he was a manager. After starting to become frustrated, he told me “I’m sorry that you are unhappy with the car and service you bought from Volvo of Bonita” and that if we bought the car from them, “their sales department would be more inclined to help and they could give us a car for the night, but since we didn’t buy it from them we would have to wait until Monday.” It became so infuriating that he would not even listen anymore and continued to talk over me asking for help. I stated again that we needed something to get our kids home and he just laughed at us. Then he went back to the excuse that their dealership was closing soon and that we were “stuck.” At this point I became extremely frustrated and Armando and I were just yelling at each other to the point where he just hung up after sarcastically saying “good luck.” Based on how we were treated by Volvo of Fort Myers, there was no way we would ever allow our car to be serviced there for this situation or in the future. Luckily after looking online, we were able to get the car started. Not wanting to turn it off again, I called Volvo of Bonita (which was 15 miles away) and asked if I can bring it in to have the error checked and if they can provide us with a loaner. I knew they closed soon, but still figured it was worth a shot, especially after how poorly we were treated by Volvo of Fort Myers. Joe, their sales manager, picked up the phone and I told him the situation. He didn’t even hesitate and said to drive on down and that he would find us a loaner. He even said he would wait for us because we would get there well after they closed. This is the type of service we expect to receive from Volvo, but clearly not every Volvo dealership is the same.

My wife and I split time between Ft. Myers and Michigan and we drive to and from. The problems with two lives and only one car became too much this past winter so we went car shopping to make life easier. We found what appeared to be a nice used Mercedes Benz listed at Volvo of Fort Myers. The car was clean inside and out. Our salesman, Bruce Mahle, let us take the car home overnight to check it out. I found a few things wrong that I thought needed to be fixed. First, the windshield squirters were not working (that is an important item for a car to have). Second, the car had an odor that wasnt all that pleasant (couldnt tell you what it was). These are issues that your everyday car buyer would notice, but just surface issues. I did ask Bruce if the car was in good working order and he was quick to point out that "the brakes are new, and there are no other problems as far as he knew". We returned the car the next day and told Bruce that we would like to have these issues addressed before we bought the car. Bruce assured me they would be taken care of. The "fix" that was done about the odor consisted of a Downey Dryer Sheet slipped under the drivers seat. Really? The squirters were finally fixed by the Dealership but after much anguish. The headlights needed replacing also. These are things that cannot or should not be hidden from the buyer. Bottom line, do not trust this Dealership.

Terrible experience from purchase to financing to service. My wife went in and bought a C70 in March 2011. We signed all the financing paperwork, they switched the registration and insurance into my name, and gave me the keys. Everything was all set, or so we thought. 3 weeks later I got a call from the bank that financed the vehicle I traded in, letting me know I was late with my payment. It was supposed to be paid off, so I called Volvo Ft Myers to find out that they couldnt find any financing. I thought we had already bought the car. They informed me that their standard practice is to just assume that the financing will work, and send the buyers home with the vehicle. Then they figure it out later. Eventually we were financed at 28% APR, at which point I should have walked away, but I didnt. Since then, the car has been in the service department at 4 different volvo dealerships (I travel a lot) including 4 times at Volvo Ft Myers. There are constant problems, some repetitive, some different, mostly pertaining to excessive noise from the engine, drivetrain, and brakes. Im not happy at all with the vehicle, but even unhappier with my experience with Ft Myers Volvo.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this dealership! I called to inquire about a used car that was listed on their site and after a comprehensive conversation, the used car manager offered to bring the car to my office the next day for me to check out! He showed up on time the next day and we discussed the price and terms. I made an appointment for the following day to go to the dealership to sign the paperwork. We talked quite a bit about the reputation of car dealerships and he indicated to me that Volvo of Ft. Myers knows that times have changed and people are busy. They aim to please their customers and do what it takes to make buying a car as painless as possible. I was SO impressed by everyone that I came in contact with at the dealership and it turns out that my "out the door" price was even better than what we had originally discussed. I will recommend Volvo of Ft. Myers to anyone and everyone looking for a new or used car. Their customer service and prices are heads and shoulders above the other dealers in town!!
