The Highlands Ranch Elevation has given me nothing but poor service, and to top it off they always talk to me like I am an idiot when we talk about my bicycle. Lets start three years ago: They charged me $85 for a service on my classic mountain bike and they said it was worn out, the chain, freewheel and in general the drive train was shot. They said that parts were not being made anymore and to start to plan on replacing the bike. I took it home, ordered parts on line and repaired it myself. It was interesting that for $85 they hadnt even taken the wheels off the bike. The bike works great with the new drivetrain parts, gotta love a classic. I did give them a second chance when I replaced my old Madone with a new 2013 Madone 5.2. I was happy with the bicycle and loved the ride, very similar to my 2005 Madone 5.2 it replaced. That was until last year when I discovered the rear spokes were coming out of the rim. The tried to give me a demo wheel off a 2.1 that wasnt even close to the same rim width or gearing. I said no way and the next day like magic they found a 5.2 wheel I could use while they waited for my warranty wheel to arrive. The new rim arrived and they laced it up and said if there were any problems to bring it back in. They did remount my tubeless tire as it was tubeless when I brought it in for warranty. They actually charged me for a new rim strip because the tubeless rim strips are a one time use. I asked why that wasnt included in the warranty because if the rim had not failed my rim strip was just fine. They said it wasnt covered so I just paid it so I could go home and ride. While the bike was there for a day for them to install the new wheel they ignored the fact that my chain was clean and lubricated with a top of the line dry lube and put a bunch of cheap stuff on that made the entire drive chain all greasy and messy after the first 30 miles of riding. If you have ever cleaned all that other gunk off your chain and went through the process to get everything clean for a dry lube you know what a pain in the butt it is to do it a second time. I could have overlooked that except when I dropped it off I told the guy taking the bike in to note not to lubricate the chain, he said dont worry they wont. Then when I went to change my tire I found four deep gouges on my "new" rim! They used a metal tire wrench on the rim, that is unacceptable. The rear tire is now making noise so I removed the wheel and tire and took the rim in for them to look at. I showed them the marks on the rim and of course they said I made those marks. Then they spun it on the wheel truing stand and said it wasnt the wheel and I would need to bring my bike back to them for more repairs! I have other wheels and the bike doesnt make any noise with those wheels and I think I know what a spoke sounds like. Needless to say I am done and will never cross their door step again! Anyone looking for a 2013 Madone I want to get rid of this bike because it is related to Elevation Cycles?

Thought I would update my review since things have changed, for the better: Our club (HRCC) had a team night there over the winter and my wife thought it was time for me to buy a new bike (she never trusted my old one since I got hit by the SUV on it over 2 years before even though the frame was checked out and ruled okay by a different shop before Elevation took over from BP). Not only did the guys at Elevation do a great job in recommending a great bike (Domane 6.2) but when it came in they also did a fantastic job getting it fit right (spent a couple of hours in the shop riding it on the trainer, adjusting it, riding it some more) and have been great at checking it out as I have been putting miles on it this spring (I just passed 500 on the new ride this weekend). These guys have also helped out a lot of my friends with repairs, new gear and info, are a great resource for cycling info in the area and the shop has just been getting better as they grow. Nice to have guys who love bikes running a shop who are also invested in the community. This was my review from last fall: Many of the reviews you read were for the shop that was there previously. It has been taken over by some new guys, Elevation Cycles who are all about bikes, know bikes, race bikes and love to talk bikes. Have had a few issues, including most recently a spoke problem with some wheels that I bought cheap via mail order. After 4 snapped spokes, two at high speed that led to kind of scary situations I brought my bike in and talked to them about a new set of wheels (my suggestion, not theirs at first, although once I told them the issues I had been having they shared that they had seen at least one other person with these wheels having similar issues). They didnt try and upsell me and we found a good set of wheels that will meet my needs and they also fixed my old wheel for free since they had to order in the wheels which wouldnt be in for a week. They did it on the spot because they know I ride nearly daily and told me they will do the same when the new wheelset comes in. GREAT SHOP, GREAT GUYS. They are NOT Bicycle Pedalr for sure.

My step-son was hit by a Chevy Blazer while riding his bicycle home from school last week. Other than a few scrapes and bruises he’s fine. Lucky! I took the bike into Bicycle Pedal’r Sunday and they said they would look at it and call us back in an hour or two. After not hearing from them by Tuesday I decided to stop by on my way home from work. I was told they would look at it the following morning and call us. Again, I didn’t get a call. I called and spoke with Nathan Wednesday afternoon and expressed my frustration. He said he’s look at it right away and call me within an hour. Again, I didn’t get a call. I decided to stop by the store again, and Nathan said, all that was wrong with the bike was a bent rim. I knew there was more wrong with the bicycle after it was hit by a Chevy Blazer. I decided to take the bike elsewhere for a better inspection. I will not go back to this store for repair or purchase. I would recommend that you send your money at a bicycle shop that values customer service, because clearly this business does not! By-the-way I did get a second opinion and it was determined the frame was bent in addition to other damage not found at Bicycle Pedal’r and the bike was a total loss.

I am a Bicycle Pedal’r fan. I have been riding and racing bicycles for over 30 years. I have become very picky about who works on my bikes and the work that they do (it must be an old guy thing). Pedal’r is the first shop that has come up to my standards, they are not perfect but they are pretty close. One of the great things about Pedal’r is the staff, they all have years of experience doing what they do. This is pretty different from a lot of shops where I see someone different wrenching every time I go in the place. As for the owner, Ed, he is a passionate guy, and that does not always rub people the right way. In my experience Ed has and the rest of the staff have always been honest and fair in the work they do and the price they charge. The shop is stocked with a good assortment of quality basic parts you will need to keep you riding and happy.
