If I were to rate Burlap Bag on there quality and availability of products I would give them four stars. But there products is not all that matters. There customer relations is down right crap. The employees are very pushy and never give you an inch of space. I know why this is, I worked in retail in the past. The best way to keep people from steeling is to never leave them alone. Constantly watch them and follow them. I understand that this is a big problem in retail, but when you shop there often and time after time they literally stalk you through the store. Its not a good time. I have had many negative experiences with the staff. First I was told that the boots that I had tried on "looked too big for me". They were the same size boots that I had worn in the store and have worn since I was a kid. To add to that I did not ask for this persons help. She just walked over and decided she would say hi by saying that. Second, I wanted to order a garment through Burlap that was available on line but I went to Burlap to make the purchase. I like to spend my money in local stores as much as possible. The cashier asked me what my name was to verify the purchase and I told her my name and she questioned my name. Never question a costumer. NEVER. I feel as if I am going out of my way to shop at Burlap to begin with. And now I get treated like a thief and a lier for shopping there. By now Im sure you are thinking wow this guy is sensitive and super negative. But there are people that work there that are helpful and kind. Shopping there when those girls are there is a hit or miss. And believe me, one of the bad employees can make it a bad experience real quick. While walking to the cash register an employee actually grabbed a peace of clothing out of my hand to hang it back up that I wanted to and was about to purchase. This person has worked there for years and always makes her presence known to say the least. After that I will never shop there again. And to add to the pile you can purchase any product that they have (other than Filson) in the store online for around a third less. You might not experience any of these problems, but when you shop there often. YOU WILL.

I have been in this store 4 times. The first time was when I needed a dollar exchanged for quarters. I was told they dont do that there in a rude way, so I left vowing not to shop there. Well, my daughter needed boots for riding, so I only knew of this place. I went in there to look and was told by a gentleman that the kids boots were at their other location off HWY 24. I went over and a sweet woman helped us try on boots. Even though we didnt find what we were looking for, I got a better impression. So the 3rd time I went in, I purchased 2 hats and 2 pairs of work gloves. The total came out to almost $150! The entire time I was in the store, the 2 women working were chasing around a wasp with a fly swatter, giggling like children. The fourth time I went into the store was to return the hats because they did not fit. The owner said they dont do that. When I pointed out there was not a sign, verbal warning, or written warning on the receipt, the owner scowled, rolled her eyes and said, "Theres dirt all over the hats." When I said that was impossible because theyd just been sitting in my back seat, the owner replied, "I usually Lysol them and it is a healthcode thing." When I told the owner that when I tried on hats in the store, the ones I put back werent cleaned, she said, "Oh, well I probably did at the end of the day." I told her I would make a dispute with my credit card company because she was refusing to give me a refund. She said that was fine and I left (I got a refund from Capital One!). I will never go to this store again. 2/3 times I have been in, the customer service has not been polite or helpful.

If I could give you a no star thats what Id do. Buyer beware. The costumer service at this business could not be worse! My husband bought work boots 10/20/2013 for $180.00 that didnt fit his foot. He took them back less than 24 hours. They said they had to send them in to manufacturer to see if something was wrong with them. The only thing wrong with them was they didnt fit my husbands FEET!!! SO. In the meantime my husband NEEDS work boots. Off he goes to a store where they actually know how to treat a customer but still, he needs to spend another $200.00 to get a pair of boots. ($200.00 we didnt have since wed already spent it!) Here it is 12/26/2013 and we finally here from them only to be told they only give store credit. Store Credit??? $180.00 on crap we dont need right now but God forbid if we dont use it now cause were NEVER stepping foot into your sad little store again and if I can help neither will anyone else. For anyone wondering, Sprortsman Ware House has great service. My husband has bought work boots from them before and yes, at times some of the boots didnt fit but what do they do? GIVE you your MONEY back! You know what else? Because of that, thats were well shop from now on! Congratulations on losing a costumer. Hope you can afford it.

I ordered boots in January 2015. I called Burlap Bag back after my order to confirm that everything was ready to go and was told that my order was sent off to the manufacturer the previous day. Great! Fast forward to now, two months later and when I called to check on the status of the order I was told that my order had not been placed at all and that they could not contact me! I was told that they copied my phone number down incorrectly, which I seriously doubt considering that I personally filled out the contact card the day I had my measurements taken and I have very legible handwriting. Further, they had my address and knew where I worked (since this is also my shipping address) and could not be bothered to contact the office where I work or write. I wouldnt be so upset by this but this is a handmade pair of boots that I need for work with the Forest Service this summer and now I am out of luck. The person I spoke to on the phone seemed to care less about the problem. The worst customer service I have ever experienced bar none.

11 months ago I purchased a pair of Keen work boots at Burlap. The saleswoman did a great job of selling the $160 boots based on the Keen warranty. Last month the steel toe separated from the front of the boot making the boots useless. I found my receipt & was excited to see it was less than a year old. When I took it in to the store, the owner, Diane Wilcox, tried to tell me that my receipt was expired AND that the warranty was not going to apply because I am a landscaper. Not sure what kind of "work" she thinks you are allowed to do in work boots. Due to her behavior I submitted my claim to Keen directly because I didnt have faith she would submit it in a timely manner. Two weeks later I received a full refund from Keen -- definitely wont go back to Burlap.
