Let me start by saying I would probably recommend this vet for basic pet needs, such as vaccines and regular check ups, even though he can come off as a bit of a jerk. But if anything out of the ordinary comes up, I would definitely look elsewhere. He hooks people in with his lower prices, but then he makes you come back repeatedly for the same issue. I took my newly adopted dog in with soft stool, and he diagnosed it as giardia after doing a snap test. He was on medication for over a week with no improvement. I brought the dog back in, the vet did another snap test, and kept my dog on the same medication, different dose while also doing an abrupt food change with no transition period. My dog started throwing up, along with no improvement in the stool. I took him in a third time, he diagnosed my other dog with giardia, put both dogs on the same medication as before, different dose again. After two days of no improvement (the vet said I should see improvement within 24 hours) I called him and asked for a different treatment plan. He yelled at me, said he would not give me a different medication, and said I must be doing something wrong (even though I told him multiple times I followed his instructions to the T). I also asked for a specific treatment plan that multiple other vets (I had called around) had recommended, and the vet tech had never heard of using it. After that I put both dogs on chicken and rice, finished the medication, and brought them to a new vet. The new vet did a different test, found out it was not giardia, told me snap tests can have false positives (Pet Palace vet did not mention this), and put both dogs on a different medication, and we saw improvement within the next day. Long story short, if you want some guy who is stuck in his ways and refuses to look into different/new treatment plans while you spend a lot of money on something that doesnt work, go with this guy.

This vet was awful. He was like the evil monster hiding in the cave at the back of the pet store, like a vampire ruling over his cute kingdom. The techs were nice, but overall this was a pretty frustrating experience. The vet was condescending and clearly wasnt taking us seriously. He also seemed like he was being rude to the techs and commanding them around harshly which made me uncomfortable. We brought our dog in because one of her nipples has been super inflamed and has been oozing crust and goo for weeks, and its pretty obvious. We didnt realize that it was her nipple at first, and he acted like as soon as he realized it was a nipple he had solved the problem, even though nipples arent supposed to excrete black, white, and yellow goo/crust, but he was very adamant that he could see nothing and kept insisting that it was because she probably had a false pregnancy when she went into heat and its some sort of late lactation, even though we explained to him that shes been spayed for months and definitely never went into heat. He seemed pretty apathetic and he was annoying and wouldnt listen. He prescribed her with antibiotics anyway (hopefully itll help, but I dont know since he insisted that her problem didnt exist so I dont know what he thinks he was prescribing medicine for). Also, there were all kinds of other pets, like cats and dogs that live at the store, hanging out in the examination room, which kinda seems like a generally bad idea since animals tend to make other animals nervous, and having all your healthy pets hanging out in the room that everybody brings their sick pets into all the time seems pretty stupid also. This place was just generally uncomfortable and frustrating. I felt like I was on the verge of getting into a fight with the vet the whole time and Im pretty sure he was getting that from me and it was making him act even more hostile.

If I could give zero stars I would. We took our 10 year old jack Russell in to get a cough diagnosed. They ended up having to do gum surgery/tooth extraction bc of advanced periodontal disease. I called a few hours after surgery and could hear Bosco barking loudly in the background so they told me he was too wound up and I could come get him. We were told before the surgery that we would be sent home with pain medicine for him and they sent nothing. That night Bosco wouldnt stop panting and pacing and whining. We called an emergency vet hotline and they were astonished that they hadnt given him pain meds for post op recovery and stated his had probably worn off and he was in severe pain. We tried all need get to calm him down but he ended up getting so worked up that he had a heart attack and passed. We brought him back to the vet to see what had gone wrong, questioned them on not giving us pain medicine for him and asked for an autopsy. They denied that his passing was bc of any lacking on their part, refused the autopsy and simply told us that theyd cremate him for free. As if that wasnt bad enough, when they did get his ashes back we had to call them after so much time had passed bc they had gotten them back and misplaced them. ALSO we had told them before bringing Bosco in that he didnt do well around strange dogs he didnt know or cats and there were 3 cats in the examination and a dog under the table.....we will never take another pet here and have to wonder every day that had we picked a better bet if Bosco would still be alive and with us.

I cant speak to the Vet side of this place, but my husband and I frequent its store often. lol ill never forget the first time i tried this place, i was just browsing the store and overheard the store owner dealing with a prospective business trying to peddle their food there. The salesmen was very very pushy about his product but she (store owner im guessing) seemed to have already done her homework on it, knew it was crap, and asked him to leave. While it may seem like a small thing, actually, it meant a lot to me -- my husband and i are still very much learning about the right kinds of dog food and stuff to avoid -- and it means a lot that there are store owners out there that are also concerned about the same things... My review is that if you are looking for an alternative to dog/cat food and want a decent price -- try this store. Lots of small stores have various alternatives but at outrageous prices -- this place definitely competes for the best price. Plus, its a small thing, but i love that they have cats and dogs (employes pets im sure) roaming around the store. This store is definitely worth a visit :) (and yes, incase there are any nay-sayers to this... no im not an employee or affiliate in any way -- just someone who doesnt want to buy a big bag of Alpo for their pup and then wonder why she has so many health problems years down the road). - Laura

Do not take rats here. Not only was the examination not helpful, but another exotic vet informed me that the topical ointment I was prescribed by this clinic could have been harmful. The office should not inform people that Dr. Haas sees rats, he did not demonstrate that he is qualified to do so. *Update 9/2014* One star added because the vet was apologetic and offered a partial refund. He also seems to want to learn how to treat the rats but, again, I cannot recommend this vet for rats at the current time. *Update 2/2015* I saw and appreciate that the vet took to the time to reply to my original post. I will not update my rating further as I still dont trust that this particular establishment is a good stop for rats. However, it seems that it is not uncommon for many vets to not feel comfortable and/or not be knowledgeable with rats as they are prone to a variety of specific health problems. If you have rats, I recommend that you do your research and find an exotic specialist who is very confident with rats specifically. It took me 5-6 months to finally find someone. If you would like help searching, feel free to contact me.
