I moved to Vallejo and spent a month and a half shopping here before I gave up. The store is nice enough, and the quality is decent, but every time I went, I left the store without several things on my list - their selection is just terrible. For example, they have eight different brands of boxed spaghetti, which means they dont have shelf space for other types of pasta, and they have a dozen brands of peppermint and earl grey tea, which means theres no space for darjeeling or oolong. Over and over again I went to this grocery store, only to have to go to another grocery store on the way back home. Think of this place much more as a Walgreens or a CVS with a butcher and a deli, and less of a full-service grocer. Which is a shame, because youre paying more, but getting fewer options.

The store in question: 709 Lincoln Road West, Vallejo, CA 94590. 4/12/12 at 0645. I never see the employees doing anything other than working diligently. Meat lockers and dairy lockers are filthuy. The butcher told me that there werent enough employees to clean meat lockers regularly. The dairy stocker said same thing about dairy lockers. I think the employees are doing their job, but management hasnt afforded enough time and/or labor to provide for the most basic things required from a food retailer; that being sanitation. The bakery is clean but did not have any baked goods other than doughnuts and a few sweet dough loafs.

I couldnt find the drink cooler, I know Safeway is supposed to have all stores set up the same so you can go into any one of them and know where to go for what you want but this one doesnt conform to the generic layout. I found that every Safeway I go to doesnt have any of the specialty citrus in the system and they try to charge me for something that is $8 more per pound than what Im buying and this one was no dofferent.

Last night I get the worst service ever, I went looking for my babys formula and asked the cashier for someone who can help me, she replies that they dont have a key to open the shelf, when I ask her how I gonna feed my baby she just said "You can go somewhere else" and that my friend is an invitation to stop doing business with this people, I wont stop again on that store period.

I really only go because its really close to my home. But they always seem to have long lines. There prices are to high. They do have discounts buy I can get there discounts regularly at other stores. Its pretty clean, I do like there sandwiches, signature soup and safeway brand ice cream

Always really long lines and the workers/management never address that issue!! I love that they finally took down the "3s a crowd" signs. I seriously hate this is one of my few options for grocery shopping in Vallejo. Wake up Safeway and increase your cashiers already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The check-out lines are always looooooooooong!!! Only because this store never has more than 2 cashiers working every time. Whats the point of having 6/check-out lanes and no option for self check-out?!?! This location needs to hire more cahiers who is ready & willing to work!!!!

Weve been customers for 20+ years, seen a lot of changes in the store & employees. This is a small Safeway, not a "superstore" and the neighborhood & some less than desirable shoppers are a real challenge for them. They manage however to remain upbeat & friendly thru it all.

Longest lines ever, and most checkers dont know how to keep the express line...Express! Yesterday they had three monstrous lines. I had to empty my bag and forget it...Should have gone to the healthy market by hwy 13 and paid double. This should be for Oakland fruitvale.

Puts other area Safeway stores to shame! Much friendlier and rarely more than a few minutes wait in line. Glen Cove location is a nightmare! Crowded, always long lines, plus a bonus...a heaping helping of indifference from most staff.

Really busy and a convenient location. Only problem is that they are under-staffed. I go in once a week and see the same cashier with only one other cashier open. That adds a long line to an otherwise pleasant experience

Worst experience ever! Please open more than one checkout line so 50 people dont need a can opener to get their carts in. Thanks Management--we were told this was your great idea to save the store money!

Always a long wait in line usually only 2 registers open even at busy hours, very few employees are really helpful in finding what you need or finding someone available to help you is hard also.

Always helpful when i need assistance but in the late evenings from 8-10 pm there is usually only 1 checker and no back up but they are always friendly and apologetic for the wait times.

Most of the time there are no shopping carts or handbaskets available. The lines are way too long. People constantly panhandle outside of the store. The deli is way too slow.

Dont hate safeway , but there super long lines and rude cashiers are terrible, there small selection of food and and also rotten fruits and Veggies are very off putting .

A Friday night! 2 lanes open w/ 50 angry customers held up trying to checkout..1 ice cream 1 milk and close to 30 mins to pay out. Never going back to this Safeway

Terrible customer service at the meat department. Also 7 pm, a busy time, only have 2 registers open both woth lines going all the way down the aisle.

Always very long lines, half the time their is no carts, only 2 check stands open, and they are always stealing elderly ladies purses its ridiculous.

The shop is nice, just dont hang out in the parking lot for more than a moment. Best to run in, get what you need and be on your way.
