This is why I never shop at Save Mart. I usually go to Nugget, but was in a hurry, and SaveMart is closer to my house. I ended up buying $90 worth of groceries and had a cart heaped full of goods. There was ONE checker open and SEVEN people in line. I don’t mind doing the self check out if I only have a few things, but I am 71 years old and don’t know how to pack bags efficiently. By the time I was almost to the front of the line, a second checker opened and took the person in front of me. I stuck with the line I was in. There was a bagger who was bagging the groceries of the person in front of me, but when the checker started checking my items, the bagger walked off. I was trying to help the checker, while the bagger at the next station was standing there, doing nothing, waiting for a guy with FOUR items, so she could bag his groceries. I mentioned to her that the person at my station could use a little help. She turned away from me. While the checker struggled to bag all of my stuff (six bags), I saw employees all over the placle, pacing back and forth, completely ignoring the checker. This is precisely why I drive halfway across town to shop at Nugget, which is set up for customer assistance, not for bagger comfort. I shopped at Lucky’s starting in 1973, and then at Albertson’s. But SaveMart makes me angry every single time I stop in there. I will try to remember NOT to go there in the future, though the checker was very nice and very efficient, which is why you get 2 stars, not one.

Ive been into this location several times, mostly for the fried chicken at the deli department. I usually get great customer service and have a good feeling leaving. Today I was disappointed. I normally get the 8 piece fried chicken with as side of rolls/ bread and another hot or cold side dish. They were out of 2 (rolls and cornbread) of the 4 bread options, which was sad... And who wants tortillas with their fried chicken? So it was really just the French roll option. For sides she told me to look in the crushers for cases. I asked her what about the mashed potatoes or mac and cheese, theyre usually hot. She pointed me to the prepackaged microwavable options. I dont have a microwave and the reason I was getting the meal from Save Mart was to not use my oven. So, my other options were potatoes salad or macaroni salad. Thats ok, but not what I wanted. I was quite disappointed my favorite hot to go meal from a grocery stores turned into only fried chicken and other sides I didnt really want. But the chicken is still great!

Very awful butcher! When I ask them to grind 2.31lb pork shoulder, they just gave me 1.61lb! But I still need to pay the price for 2.31lb. They didnt tell me this until I scaled the ground pork and talked to them! I was told some meat was left in the machine! Wtf! Why should I be responsible for their machine! They also refused to rescale the ground pork for me unless they scale at the price of $3.99 instead of$2.99! I have asked them to grind pork twice and such thing never happened. Probably because I never found the loss of pound.

They have what you need. Probably. No one will be able to tell you if they do over the phone. In person the service is grand. The donuts have a very small chance to be gates to other universes, so make sure to prod them with something you dont mind losing through a gap in spacetime before you eat them.

Ya gotta love Save Mart, they have the best of everything... Lower prices than most. Higher quality products like meat, produce, etc and the staff is always ready to help. Whether its to give you an on the spot price adjustment or just show you where the restroom is... No service like Save Mart.

Good quick place to grab snacks and other small things. It was One of the first places to have tap to pay at self check out. Their selection can be limited. But I would never get their pre-made wraps again, no flavor and super dry. I love their potato wedges tho and wings arent bad either.

This is a nice grocery store. Its mostly clean. They have almost everything you need especially for a regular grocery store. Their deli and bakery do a nice job when you order something. They even have small glasses of water available for the customers when they come in if theyre thirsty.

Best place to grocery shop on a budget in Davis, regardless of what Nugget promotes. But with the decreased prices (Quick Sale Meat!) you have a less inviting atmosphere. Prepared food section is abysmal
