I had the chance to meet Fred yesterday, I had an issue with the freezer not getting cold and tried to diagnose it myself willing to spend up to $280 on 2 parts evap fan ($80) and a motherboard($200). New fridge would have cost me $1600. I called in earlier in the day about parts and availability and our conversation was very short. Got off work at 5pm drove home, removed the fan and board in 15min it was 5:35pm and I called and he picked up I told him that I need 2 parts he said come on down, ill be here. The moment I came in I saw Fred and introduced myself and it was 5:45pm (he closes at 5:30pm) I told him of my problem and he already had the parts in-front of him and began dissecting my old fan and removed the thermostat sensor and began plugging it into the new fan. Being a do-it-yourself kind of guy I figured he just saved me $30 because the evap fan with thermostat was $110 (search from earlier in the day). We began to talk and he saw my motherboard and I told him I needed to get this too since most of the boards online mention to replace this as-well since the fan went out. Anyhow Fred inspects and tells me this board is in good shape and showd me the resistor and etc that usually go bad. Then he tells me I didnt need to buy the board and spend $200 and said"are you sure" and he says "trust me why spend the money." After almost 45min of talking he tells me his cost on the evap fan and why he didnt sell me the evap fan w/thermostat for $110 and he tells me why its because your a do-it-yourselfer and he wanted to teach me something. The whole time I thought its because he didnt have the part but he proved me wrong he did and he showed it to me. I can read people very well and this owner at the end of the day is a straight up old-schooler hes smart and likes to help people, hes honest, he wants to up-hold his great reputation, which I read most of his reviews prior to my visit. Fred could have taken advantage of may situation for financial gain but didnt. I normally would save a buck and buy online for parts but after meeting Fred the knowledge and knowing the type of person and level he is, I can say he is very trust-worthy. This is my first review ever! I will always support Miracle Appliance in Thousand Oaks. Freds an asset to the community. People dont fix appliances like they used to, people no-a-days would throw out a fridge for a $60 part. I came very close and im glad I didnt. It gave me an opportunity to met Fred........ P.S. last night I was thinking what else could be broken so I could go back to Fred. crazy huh, he really made an impression on me. 5-stars!!!

I phoned the guy to see that he was open (he was). I asked about the Whirlpool dryerbelt (that I found the number for on-line), I got half way through the part number - and he finished it for me (knows his stuff). He took the time to describe (without my asking) the treading path of the belt. Interesting that all these woman complain. My wife has never had a problem with this guy. To that end as I entered the store he was telling another customer a story. Apparently this woman phoned him and was asking about replacing a part. She ask, "can I do this?" His reply was, "can you change a tire?" A few hours later she shows up at the store with the part removed. Her cost to replace, $75. A quote from a repair center, over $600! So, I can not see where the guy is giving (capable) woman a hard time. Now, if you come in and can not accurately describe the problem. Or, lack model/part numbers etc., yea, I can see how the guy might not be the friendliest. But how many years has he seen the same exasperation from customers who can not be helped because it is THEIR fault. If you do not know what you are doing and can not provided model/part numbers or accurately describe your needs you are probably do not belong in the store in the first place. Every time I have been there they have what I need at a good price. Fred has always been willing to offer verbal assistance. I am glad these places are still around.

I can see how some people might consider him rude. I think thats just his style. But he wasnt with me personally. And to the guy who says he ripped him off and the no return policy. Look at it from his point of view. people would just get a part install it and if it didnt fix the problem they would yank it out and return it. And theres no way to check every part that would come back. What if they miswired it, shorted it out? then the next guy to get it wel,l it might damage his unit.. I bought a part for my microwave, he had it in stock and it was cheaper than i could get it off the web shipped . when i went to pick it up i listened to him help a guy with his water dispencer on his fridge. he told him how to do the job, what to loook out for, and then gave him a choice for a very expensive new plastic hose assy or a used one for less than $5. i thought that was awesum. And as far as overcharging shame on you for not checking out pricing before you bought. Sounds more like buyers remorse to me. i now need some parts to tune up my dishwasher got my part numbers and prices and im going to call Fred right now. This is for Jess... where in the hell can you get the mesh filter for a stove hood for $2 heck you cant get a burrito supreme from taco bell for that.

My boyfriend and I found ourselves driving around on a Sunday looking for a replacement part for our washing machine motor. Home Depot was not only not nice but they have NO replacements parts for this type of machine. We then ended up in Thousand Oaks at Miracle Appliance and although he was also closed he just so happened to have stopped by his shop for a part he needed. He saw us outside and opened for his. We showed him the part we needed, he found it in less than 2 minutes, sold it to us for an EXTREMELY fair price, then took the time to look at the motor we had brought with us and give my boyfriend some tips on how to replace the part. Ironically enough, it felt like a miracle indeed. Please, if ever in need of a part for your appliance, go to this place first. This man is so nice and so helpful it really makes me feel good to know that businesses like his still exist.

Fred is awesome!! I am trying to repair my 8 yr old fridge that just stopped cooling. I searched online and it said to replace part x. Took it into Fred and he told me before checking it that is wasnt the problem. He checked the part and sure enough he was right. I replaced the motherboard tonight (at Freds recommendation) and sure enough the fridge is working again just fine. I had the option of using a new motherboard for about $160 or a used board for about a third of the price. Im looking forward to having this fridge for another 8 - 10 years and am confident if there are any issues with the fridge that Fred will have any parts I need. Fred reminds me of my grandfather, and makes me want to continue in his footsteps and repair what I can rather than replacing fixable items.
