I have been here several times to purchase things relating to both my mountain and road bikes as well as other miscellaneous things. The bike service is absolutely the best in Stockton. I have taken my bike to other shops down the street and none of them have measured up to the work I have done here. For example, I had taken my older road bike to another shop for work on the rear axle. $3 part and $25 labor which was not bad. The poor part was the 5 weeks taken to replace the axle and do a tune up, the tune up which was not even done. On the flip side, I have taken my bike to REI and got a basic "Bronze Level Tune Up" which fixed everything on my bike that the other bike shop failed to fix. And in under one day! On a weekend! I am very very pleased with the service offered for bikes and for other things. The staff is very knowledgable on almost every topic you could muster up. The garage sales are a hit as well; I walked out of there with a pretty much brand new GPS watch that retails at $300 for only $100. If you are not an REI member, it is absolutely worth it in every way.

This our go to store whenever we need camping or snow gear. It can be a bit pricy, but I always do my homework. Ya, you can probably get similar gear elsewhere but not with the same quality that this store carries. The store is huge and has everything outdoors with clothing for whatever your into upstairs. They carry a lot of hard to find camping gear here that we acquired a couple of years ago when my son was in the Boy Scouts. On this visit, I went in initially to look around but ended up purchasing a pair of sandals for almost half off because of their fall clearance. These were almost identical to the one I was going to purchase at Bass Pro Shop which was over $120.00. The only downside is they had to back order it.

Just the best experience today after a somewhat difficult start to our trip... We had 2 kayaks we were traveling long distance with and one of the cradle racks broke. We went into an REI about half way. We werent going to make it much further. We met David, Lory and Taniel and they were so helpful, and made sure to do all they could to help make sure we got a full replacement for the set of racks, the REI way - Love REI for that! Anyway, all loaded up with fixed racks and strapped down, David and Tanile both came out after work, they closed at 6, and checked on how it was going. Thanks for helping us out today!

I was very, very impressed with the service. I showed up 7 minutes after closing, as the manager was shutting the door. He asked if I had a quick transaction, I said yes, and the staff allowed me to return my shoes for another pair, which I know isnt exactly a quick transaction (although I did know the size and type I wanted before I came in). Since I was traveling and the nearest REI is about 3 hours away, this really was helpful. Friendly staff makes it or breaks it for me! Also, although they were low on stock, they had lots of options.

If youre looking for outdoor and recreational gear this is a great place to go. The merchandise is great and they carry some high quality brands. Most of all, the staff are passionate about the topics pertaining to the equipment. Good place to get advice and find the right equipment.

I shop more at the REI in Sacramento but come here once in a while. This one seems smaller but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Parking is easy but its a distance from the freeway. I buy most of my outdoor gear from REI, I love the quality.
