Unfortunately I was forced into buying books from here because Summer Session is so short there is not enough time to get books from elsewhere. The books I were sold, were sold to me as new, but when I started reading them I found pencil markings all over the inside. If you are buying a new book, it would be wise to watch them unwrap it, although even used books can be shrink wrapped. The older lady that checked me out has to be the rudest, most stuck up person I have ever seen have a job. My girlfriend and I were just having a conversation and she kept interrupting to say that we were stupid to think the things we do and that we were gravely mistaken about life. I dont remember what we were talking about, but we mentioned that we had just been reading about it on the internet and the lady insisted that we had not been reading it and had made it up. I dont know what kind of person butts into a conversation to tell you what you have and have not done, buts its not a person I ever want to be around. People need to keep their mouth shut when they dont even have the ability to know something such as what we had or had not done that day or whether we read something somewhere or were making it up.

Do not buy books here if you need them from school. Use amazon or something else. purchased a book from here at 3pm for a class. When I tried to return it a few days later, I was told that because it was a book for school during the first week of classes (it was not a textbook though) I had to have returned it before they closed the same day. The person I spoke to was rude and defensive.

I love this little shop. Apparently theyre the go to place for UCSC students so they can get busy at the start of the quarter, but I love the slightly disorganized cramped feeling I get when I come into this shop. Its almost like in one of those bookstores in the movies where you find the book that transports you to another land. I almost always find what I want when I come in.

Very cramped place and staff dont pay you any attention besides telling you the location of the book you need. They just continue their conversation while checking you out for payment, Im sure they dont like college kids coming in to their bookstore as I always feel a bad atmosphere when I walk in.

Yey for small bookstores! Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. They did well and were organized for such a small space with so many books. Many professors got there readings bound here and found a lot of textbooks. NOt the best selection for books not for students.

Always fun to browse their great selection of new and used academic titles that you wont find elsewhere. Hard to believe Ive been coming here for something like 25 years. Great local shop.

Excellent selection, cute atmosphere, and friendly staff willing to chat with you. Slightly expensive, which I wouldnt mind so much if my professors didnt make me buy my textbooks from here.

Changed classes and had to return a couple books, and they took them back for me even though the books were out of their return policy. Very nice and straightforward business!
