Ive held off writing a review to make sure I didnt write a review off of a single experience. The staff is always friendly and the coffee is is the best in town, but the wait times leave something to be desired. About 50% of the time I go in there are less than 3 people that have orders in or waiting to place an order, yet it takes 15+ minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese. As with today, no one bothers to look at their white board to start it until after 10 minutes. And not that Im that worried about germs, but the last 3 times Ive been in there Ive watched the same person take money from several customers before heading over to cut and spread cream cheese on my bagel without washing his hands or using gloves. Today I received a bagel that he only toasted for a few seconds and I had a hair mixed in with my cream cheese. I really hate to write a negative review, and Ill almost always give a place another chance, but this is the 3rd time in a row this has happened and my complaint applies to no less than 50% of my visits. As I work right next to this shop it was a regular stop for me a couple of times a week, but this time will be my last.

Though kind of hidden in the strip mall it is located in as it is kind of an industrial park area, this place is a hidden gem! Loved everything about my experience here! It is a functioning coffee roaster as well as a lil cafe, so you can smell the awesome coffee from the street! I had the thai chicken wrap w/the pasta salad and cookie meal and the Matcha latte and for $11.63 w/tax and tip, it was worth every penny! The thai vinaigrette that comes on the wrap is Nom-some! And the Matcha Latte was perfection! The pasta salad (and they give you a healthy portion, so I took half of mine on the road w/me for a snack later) was very tasty and the cranberry oatmeal cookie I had, though small, was also delish! The indoor decor is cute and captures their coffee expertise with ample seating. The staff was nice and my order came out fairly fast. They have a great selection of loose leaf teas as well. I would definitely go out of my way to make a return visit the next time I am in SLO.

If youre in SLO and looking for amazing coffee or espresso drinks, and treats that will blow your mind, then be sure to visit Coastal Peaks Roasters. My drink of choice is a breve cappuccino, but the other morning they happened to have bacon and date scones, and holy cow... what a combination! We also love to pick up a pound of beans for domestic duty when were there, and these will also delight your senses. Even their decaf beans are fantastic, with none of that tinny aftertaste youll get from other brands. The newly redesigned interior makes you want to settle in for the day with a good book or a friend for some good conversation.

With good coffee being commonplace now, does it really matter which one I stop at? YES! This place was a coffee roaster first, selling specially blended coffee to restaurants, and their coffee is great! They then opened the cafe and made it a super casual, comfortable place. Dont let that fool you, though, the staff are relaxed but they are really working for you, just making it look easy. It must be a good place to work! And the roaster now gets to do single origins and new blends, whatever the beans seem to want, this has got to be more fun than blending for the same restaurants every week.

Can ya tell I LOVE THIS SPOT!! Youd never see it if you travel fast on Higuera yet make it a point to slow down and stop!! The coffee is the best...and the baristas are INFORMED!! They can tell you more about what you like than you know!! Good little bits to nosh on as well...but the atmosphere is the TOP!! Friendly, pleasant, smiling folks...whether you wear paintcovered jeans or your best bibntucker, youll be treated to smiles and the smell of roasting coffee beans! Betcha youll be so happy you stopped in!

Hidden gem! Some of the best coffee Ive ever had. They roast their own beans in-house, and with an old fashioned roaster. Their incredible knowledge and passion comes through with every sip. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Its cozy inside while not cramming you up like some other coffee shops. Icing on the cake is that theres ample parking outside, since its away from downtown. Coastal Peaks is a great study spot and local hangout. Thank you guys! Keep up the delicious work.

Roaster Philip Grant is truly a master craftsman of his trade. All of the coffees at Coastal Peaks Roasters are top-shelf, but the blends created by Mr. Grant are masterpieces and a testament to his skill and passion for micro-roasting. His knowledge is very evident in conversation and his genuine willingness to give visitors a personal tour of the operation is a unique experience. Coastal Peaks really is the finest coffee I have ever enjoyed. ~ The Thompsons

Ive been visiting here from the UK for over a year now. Everytime i go in the staff are always there with a smile to greet me. The coffee they serve is fresh and of good value for money. I can spend hours in here sat in a comfortable chair watching the world go by. As Im writing this review im currently sipping on a sample given to me my Master roaster Phil here in the UK. Thanks to all the staff for makingbus welcome the last couple of weeks. See you all soon.

Tara on Yelp suggested we get the latte and thank her later. Yup! Thanks Tara! The people here are great, the son-in-law roaster saw us checking out the jute and sisal coffee bags hanging on the wall, and asked if we would like to see the operation. Great guy - recommended a few different coffees - ordered 3 bags, took home 4 and need to order more now! Amazing coffee! Nothing like just-roasted beans!

Coastal Peaks not only has the best coffee on the Central Coast with PLENTY of variety from dark to light roasts, but also has a vast assortment of pastries. The atmosphere is relaxing, welcoming, and very cozy. The staff and baristas are humble and very friendly and go out of their way to serve their customers. Coastal Peaks is a must for any coffee enthusiast and a wonderful place to come and relax.

To say this place is a coffee institution in SLO is a misnomer. Few places you go in this town have staff that have been there 4,5...6 years. Separate rooms for the wifi crowd, leather armchairs for casual meetings... Great coffee and the best baked goods around. Easy on/off from the 101 with plenty of parking. Come to a place where they learn your name and the coffee the way you like it!

This was my 2nd visit to Coastal Peaks and this time I bought coffee beans. The staff was very helpful in assisting me to select a smooth and low acid coffee. They took their time and made me feel very welcomed as I just moved here from Pasadena. Thank you Coastal Peaks staff for the great coffee and excellent customer service. I will see you soon. Cheers, JoJo
