First off...Cant say enough about the level of professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm and dedication this shop and all its staff has regarding cycling as a whole. I recently decided to work on building up my dream bike from the frame on up. A good friend of mine has always been trying to get me to go over to Free Wheel. My first visit to the shop the floor staff ( wish I had everyones names ) introduced me to Carlos (the owner) and he was very, very patient in listening to all the questions and comments I had about what I was looking for. He gave me many recommendations, suggestions and honest options about what and where I could improve on the build. At no point did I feel that I was being swung in any direction or upsold on anything. The staff on the floor were also very helpful with researching parts and availability of items. What could have been an overwhelming, expensive, mistake making task of getting a bike built up from the ground turned into a very enjoyable learning experience. Not to mention the bike is the business and rides like butter all day. If you are looking for a professional shop that deals with real, quality, tried and true bikes and componentry then hit these guys up. You wont be disappointed!

Brought my bike in, the first guy who I asked for help seemed pre occupied, couldnt care less about my bike because it probably wasnt up to his standards. I found another worker to help me after giving up with him. how can you work in a bike store and not be genuinely interested in helping someone with their bike, no matter the brand? Other than that the store was nice, other workers were helpful

An honest bike shop experience. Ive always taken my old beater bikes here for repair and the staff at Freewheel has always treated me as a VIP. I even tried to leave a tip for undercharging for an adjustment, but it turned out to the owner who wouldnt even accept it for a good well done.

Carlos helped me immediately when I had problems with a to short seat post of my rental bike. I was on a trip from San Francisco to LA. With his quick, professional and very friendly way he solved the problem. That was one reason to finish the trip together with my wife successful.

Prices are a little steep in my opinion, but the staff is nice and I have had a few bikes serviced here over the years. Not my first choice, but its convenient when youre cruising the Mission and realize something on your bike isnt working right.
