This is the closest bike shop to my office downtown and is why they are still receiving my business. The staff are friendly and helpful, but I fell into the trap of not doing enough research before bringing my bike in for a repair. I brought the bike it to have a spoke replaced because I was told that doing this type of work yourself is ill-advised, as you should have a professional properly check the tension in all of your spokes during the repair process. I assumed that this would be standard practice for this type of pair. Wrong assumption. I had loosened a couple of my spokes to be able to ride the bike in to the repair shop (stabilize the wobble). The mechanic DIDNT check the tension in all of the spokes when he made the "repair". Two days later I blew ANOTHER spoke. I took it back to the shop, and the mechanic told me that THIS TIME he decided to check the tension in ALL of the spokes and found that a couple were loose.... Another mechanic at this shop had tried to convince me that it was possibly a defect with my brand new bike (less than 500mi, 2016 Cannondale), and that perhaps they were cheap non-Swiss spokes, or that my disc breaks were putting a bunch of additional stress on the spokes. Turns out--his buddy just didnt do a thorough repair the first go around. $60 and a lot of pain and time later, I will not be having my repairs done at this shop anymore. That being said, if you need to pick up a few components or some gear, the staff are friendly and great. I must also mention that everything seems to be great and riding tight now.

As a former bike shop employee at multiple shops, all I can say is that these guys suck. Ive been in this place at least ten times looking for various items like cable housing, multi-tools, and even road bikes. Every time I am in this shop, getting prompt/fast customer service is like pulling teeth. A simple task like buying a pump takes four times as long as it should. The last, and final time I was in the shop, I asked for a quick bit of help with some wheels that I brought in. I ask the guys in the back to loosen two fasteners with bike specific tools, and within the time it took me to explain what I was looking for three times, the task could have been completed. In the end, they began writing a service ticket for the work, which at that point I decided to leave. This was a bit disappointing as I had fully intended on buying several items while in the store. With the consistently bad service that I have experienced from this group, I would strongly advise from getting service or a bicycle as you will end up getting sub-par service compared with other shops in the area such as EVO or Greggs.

I have an electric bike, and a lot of places refuse to work on it even if the work has nothing to do with the electric parts. But these guys had no problem adjusting my brake pads, replacing a broken spoke that had to be a cut to a custom length due to being on the wheel with the motor, and tuning it up so it was running like new again -- and it was ready the same day. The only negative was that they dont bleed hydraulic brakes, which was something I also needed, but they were quite helpful in pointing me to several other places that I might have that done. All in all, the service was very good, everyone I spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable, and their prices were quite reasonable. I would definitely return for any service I needed other than adjusting the fluid in hydraulic brakes.

I left my road bike with Velo after my cross country ride and requested they disassemble, box and ship by bike via BikeFlights. I was so impressed by how expertly they packed it and how quickly they shipped it out! When my bike was delivered to me, I noticed that FedEx had really thrown my bike around and that there were several punctures in the box, but I was happily surprised that Velo had protected my bike so well, that there wasnt any damage at all. Would absolutely recommend Velo! Thank you!!!

Saw them for a rear flat yesterday and discussed rear fender. Obvious today that flat was caused by fender rub but the techs wont even look me in the eye... Same guy. Everyone else had been very nice but the older techs are kinda jerks, theyre just dont their job but i need my bike for mine and theyre not being very helpful or owning up to missing the obvious problem... If Im gonna pay again for the same problem Ill give the money to nicer techs that will own their work this time.

Ive taken a few weeks to think about this review and while I dont think they are actually scammers, I do think that they arent any good at working on bikes. Even after multiple trips back they werent able to even perform a simple tune up of my bike, hell they even forgot to tighten the seat after a "test ride". And the cherry on top, the new chain they insisted I needed just broke after a couple hundred miles because they couldnt get my shifting to work smoothly.

I gave it 5 stars because, actually, when you compare Velos to the dozen-plus other bike shops there really is no comparison. Tho Im not a typical hi dollar bike enthusiast with money to burn, these dudes were always just chill with me....and as I burn thru tubes often, their prices ARE considerably cheaper for repairs, etc. And having a couple of youngster cutey ladies working behind the counter (and Valerie KNOWS her bike stuff also!),well, thats a plus of course.

If you want to talk to someone about getting you bike fixed and you want them to treat you like dirty while they do it, look no further than Velo! Seriously I have been in a few times and asked for advice before buying something or getting something fixed and everyone has always been arrogantly condescending. I wont be going any more

As reviewers have posted below, the repairs are pretty expensive. But quality work is never cheap. They did a high caliber job quickly and got me back on my commute. Which is what counts in the end. Also, as another poster mentioned: Theyre electric bicycle friendly. I would return for service.

Brought my bikes here for service on multiple occasions and have always come away satisfied. The mechanics know what they are talking about and are happy to explain things in detail. Prices seemed reasonable and has a good selection of wares.

I first went to Velo when they were in their Capitol Hill location. Every visit Ive had the staff has been friendly and unpretentious, helpful and professional. I am a big fan, and really grateful for their new downtown location.

If you are a Belltown yuppie, this bike shop for you. Used to be a great bike shop, before it moved from Capitol Hill. Mechanics are newbs and the shop is difficult to get to. Support you local bike shop, not this place.

Just had a major overhaul on my road bike which had become gunked up over the winter. I got the bike back in like new condition. I cant believe how quiet it is now and how smoothly it shifts. Super nice job!
