I have 2 major complaints about my experience here. Lets start at the beginning. My mother and I chose to do this bike tour in the summer of 2012. Although this review is a few months later I remember the day exactly. My mom had called ahead to ask if the off road biking was tough for novice cyclists. She wanted to the the tour through the vineyards but want sure if she would have the skill to do it. The person who answered the phone was Matt; our future tour guide; and he explained that it was easy and it would be no problem for her. So based on his recommendation we ordered the "Cycling IN the vineyards" package. From the moment we arrived and began the bike tour I could feel a time constraint coming from the tour guide. I constantly felt pushed to go at his pace and not enjoy my tour. Problem 1) At the beginning of the tour he asked if anyone wanted a gel seat. So my mom says yes. At the end of the tour we find that we have been charged additionally for use of the gel seat. This is a problem: He should have announced that the gel seats would cost an extra whatever. Problem 2) As the tour progressed we get to the "Cycling IN the vineyards" part and it gets tough for a novice. She has to learn how to change gears without proper instruction and learn how to navigate rocky terrain while using this new gear changing system. Very tricky. From here my mom tries to learn as fast as she possibly can and cope with this new system, the tour goes on. Now I dont doubt the tour has a time schedule to keep to, but when someone (Matt) says that the tour is going to be manageable for a novice cyclist and then they start to try to move the tour like a Tour de France. Then we have problems. Heres the bottom line. This tour isnt for novices, and it does require some experience to have an enjoyable time. Overall my experience with our tour guide Matt left a lot of room for improvement. Perhaps there are better tour guides for the company, but i dont know. I had no problems cycling, because im experienced. But when the person im vacationing with isnt having a good time, then im not going to have a good time. I wanted Matt to be patient and understanding of his customers instead he acted like a young hot shot who had better things to do, the sooner this tour was done. Nice try Napa Valley Bike Tours, but i think you could do better. I wont recommend this tour to anyone. But thats just me. I believe my tour guide ruined this experience, the content of the tour was good and riding can be fun, but hes not a tour guide. Maybe he would do better as a personal trainer or slave owner. The best part was the food provided by the local deli. Amazingly scrumptious and healthy!

this is a great way to see the area, get some exercise and really enjoy just being in wine country. we were fortunate for comfortable weather and rode quite a bit! we took the "easy trail" that the staff recommended. we just rented bikes so the cost was very reasonable. ther is not a need for them to cart the wine back to your hotel room if you can ship a whole case at some of these wineries. we also didnt get the lunch; we just went to the grocer to grab something. the staff are friendly and informative and were able to direct us to some good wineries and other places to stop-- they are quite knowledgable. the price is great. the bikes we rented were the hybrids. my bikes tire had a worn patch and if i didnt inspect it, i would have missed it. luckily they were really good and immediately got me a replacement. it is a requirement to wear a helmet. if you can bring your own, i would recommend doing so. overall, i would stronly suggest this experience for anyone wanting to see the area and really get out there.

My husband and I just finished a guided tour around Napa valley and we loved it! We are active people but not bikers, and we found this was the perfect way to see the valley. Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgable, personable, and a great leader! We stopped at 3 wineries (which is enough ;) ) on our tour which lasted about 6.5 hours. We were fed an excellent lunch half way thru the tour and our water bottles replenished at every stop. My husband and I rode a Tandom bike (also called the relationship tester) for the first time... What an adventure!! I would recommend anyone to do this tour

My husband and I rented a couple bikes, and had an amazing time. I originally reserved two electric bikes, but when we got there, my husband decided he would rather have a hybrid road bike. They accommodated us without a problem and answered all of our questions. They also provided us with a map ith several different suggested trails and asked me if there were any particular wineries I wanted to see and then circled them on the map. The employee also highlighted a particularly nice scenic spot to ride through. Overall, a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I loved our Napa Valley Bike Tour experience! I would definitely do it again and was impressed with their organization and attention to detail. Most of all, we really liked our amazing guide, Theresa. In addition to leading us through the valley to various vineyards, she explained how the grapes are grown and harvested at several rest stops along the way. Although the ride was a little longer than we expected, Theresa kept us moving at a good pace without killing us to return at the time we had specified. Napa Valley Bike Tours is a first-class operations in my book.

Biking is a great way to enjoy either Napa or Sonoma and the NVBT is a great place to do this. Because it is located in the heart of Yountville all, bikers have a good start and end point. Small packs come with the bike making it easy to stash water bottles or other miscellaneous goods. The bikes NVBT offer range from roadbike to hybrid. The staff is friendly and provide loop selections ranging from beginner to experienced and vineyard/winery recommendations. If you are looking for a way to incorporate something active in your visit, try renting a bike on your visit!

This was the first time that my wife and I had visited Napa and I can honestly say that the half day bike tour was the highlight of our trip!! Mike was a fantastic guide !! He had a great knowledge not only of Napa and the surrounding areas but also of wine, wine making and the local producers. We had a group of 8 with varying skill levels, everyone had a great experience. I will definitely recommend Napa valley Bike Tours to everyone

Outstanding customer service. Great attitude from every staff member. I rented a road bike for 5 days and the equipment was great quality. They flipped the stem and mounted my Garmin bracket with a smile. I recommend them highly.
