Be prepared to be treated like a criminal (at least by Madilyn). I had been in the store, which is amazing, for about half an hour and was only through one little nook. I could have spent hours looking for more stuff to buy. The three items I had selected were in my left hand and my carrying bag was on my right shoulder. After speaking to three different sales associates including the assistant manager, I was eventually approached by Madilyn who said that I needed to come to the counter and check my bag. I explained that it was my personal bag, similar to a womans purse and that many women in the store had purses larger than my bag. If she had done it in a more pleasant manner, I most likely would not have been so miffed. She insisted it was store policy to check all bags and that I would have to do so in order to keep shopping. I offered her the opportunity to look through my bag and she declined. Finally, I explained to her that I would not be checking my bag and asked to speak with the assistant manager. The assistant manager seemed embarrassed by the entire incident and explained that she would speak with Madilyn. She stated that the policy applied to other shopping bags that were not from Pangaea Outpost. Upon returning to the register, I was lucky enough to be checked out by Madilyn. I was a bit snarky, but she was downright irascible. She asked me for a method of payment and I handed her my Chase debit card. Apparently, she thought my debit card was stolen as well and that I had waterboarded the PIN number out of someone in the back alley. For the record, it is not common practice for most merchants to require identification for PIN related purchases. Pangaea Outposts policy may differ, but I believe Madilyn was really trying to put the nail in the coffin. Words were exchanged, but upon leaving I tried to be the better person and gleefully stated, "Thanks, Ill be back." Madilyn quickly quipped, "I hope not." Had it not been for that last stinger on her part, I probably would not have even taken the time to turn to Yelp. Pangaea Outpost is definitely worth a visit, but beware of Madilyn and her sour, surly demeanor.

I really like this exceptional artful store. There are many wonderful boutique style "booths" in Pangaea Outpost with artistic offerings of all types to decorate your place or find a gift for someone special to you. There are several local artisans that sell here with interesting and unique merchandise. The employees are always very nice, especially the store manager Tracy is very nice and very helpful with a huge personality and a helpful do the job right attitude. The store is becoming more and more metaphysical (could be the sign of the times); that is a turn off to me. All in all the Pangaea Outpost is the best gift shop in Pacific Beach and San Diego.

Went on a whim to the shop from a recommendation from a guy working at a furniture shop down the street. I wanted to check out the unique shops in the pacific beach area and this is definitely one to check out. It feels like 20 gift stores in one with the selection of products including crafted jewelry, trinkets, clothes, home decorations, photos, books, and sooo much more. I bought a little jar with a ceramic pig on top for someone who loves animals, thought she would enjoy. Wish I was shopping for myself instead of others to make the visit a little funner. Next time.

This is one of our favorite stores in the area. They always have tons of unique, cool stuff. A great place for gift buying. One of those stores you can spend an hour in, and then come back the next day to see some more.

Pangaea is a great place to get gifts for anyone and any occasion. Candles, jewelry, clothing, toys, and tons more. Its where you go for bacon lip balm, or Day of the Dead earrings, plus a million other things.

This place is great. A huge range of gifts, arranged by theme/interest/artist. Nice stuff, lots of it at very reasonable prices for a gift boutique. Dedicated parking out back.
