The shop has some cool knick-knack stuff for sale as well as some souvenir/gift-style shirts and clothing. But, the real draw to this business is being able to go into one of the La Jolla caves. After kayaking near the caves and seeing them from above, it was interesting to get another perspective. The steps can be slippery, but we had no problems with them. There are a few spots where the ceiling is a little low, so if youre a little taller you might have to duck a bit. I was hoping that we could have actually "explored" the cave a little instead of just standing on the decking, but it was interesting nonetheless. I think the $5 is a little steep, so I probably wouldnt do it more than once, but still something fun to do while in La Jolla. Visited July 2014

Welp, it was Definetly an experience. For 5 bucks, you get to go in a cave. So, why not? This isnt something for babies, elderly, Super tall, claustrophobic, or disabled. You start at the top of 145 wooded, damp, some drenched in water, steps. Its dark, and super hot. Its narrow, and a 2 way. You come back up the same way. When you get to the bottom, there is a small platform, and a small cove, with rocks, and an ocean view. When we got down there, there was only 1 sea lion in there. So, we went down, just to say we were in a cave, and felt like the Goonies. Was it spectacular? No, not really. Was it worth the 5 bucks? Absolutely. You get to go into a cave! If you can get past the horrible means of transportation down and back, its really kinda cool.

The Cave store itself was nice. A lot of jewelry and trinkets to pick up as souvenirs. Excited to see the cave, so paid the $5 fee to walk down the 145 steps. They warned to use the handrails because they could be slippery. They were fine. I timed the trip down, looking around and back and it was 8 minutes and 30 seconds. We did take a few pictures at the bottom so we didnt rush back up. Cant stay on the platform too long because it doesnt hold many people. Feel the $5 was too much for such a short, non-climactic experience.

The store is the entrance to the cave which is one hundred something steps down (and back up). The steps are wet and slippery and it gets a bit cramped so I would not recommend the trip down for those that are claustrophobic. Its only $5 to go down so its not going to break the bank and the history behind the cave is pretty cool. The shop itself sells a wide variety of things including jewelry, paintings and clothing from local vendors.

If you get claustrophobic or are not very active, do not go down to the cove. Entry is $5 per adult. The stairs are long and narrow, with wet cave walls. Do not attempt if you think there is a risk of falling or becoming panicked. The stairs lead to a small platform inside the cove from which you can see the ocean outside the cave entrance. The view is pleasant, but dont try it if you are easily frightened.

Worth a visit once to see the cave. it is $5 a person and you go down and climb back up 145 really rickety and slippery stairs. Snorkel rentals are 20 bucks which seems steep compared to other places in la jolla. But they have cute things to buy at the shop, water, snacks if needed, and the staff are kind enough to provide small maps of la jolla if you are not familiar with the area.

The cave stairs were well kept along with the hand rails. The height clearance near the end of the stairs is low; so people that are taller or as tall as 6 0" will have a bit of trouble near the end of the stairs. The dock at The bottom of the stairs is small and can get easily crowded if a large group comes into the cave. The store itself has a wide range of souvenirs.

Las personas que la atienden son muy amables y responden a todas tus preguntas sobre sus productos. Incluso té hacen sugerencias para lugares que visitar cerca de ahí.

I walked past this store many times and not notice that there is an entrance to a cave where you can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean. There are about 150 steps going down the lighted tunnel to access the cave. Costs 5.00 for adults and 3.00 for kids. Worth the price. Just watch out your return coming back up ! It is hard ! 4 stars because its 5 dollars for going into a tiny tunnel that leads to a really cool cave view out to the ocean, but its tiny and crowded(you cant fit more than 8 people in the space). But the sea cave view is pretty neat. its smaller and more expensive than I had hoped for. You will not spend more than 5 minutes in the cave.

The cave was initially dubbed “Sunny Jim” by Frank Baum, the author of The Wizard of Oz – looking outward from the inside of the cave, the opening profile resembles the cartoon mascot for British Force Wheat Cereal (named Sunny Jim) created by W.W. Denslow in the 1920s. 145 steps. $5 entry for adults and $3 children

This is where you go to pay admission and gain access to walk down to the cave. Good spot for souvenirs like jewelry and seashells. They do not rent snorkeling equipment, but many of the other shops in the village do. There is a walkway here to go out on top the cave, which is free and has great views.

This is a great place to take friends and family when they come to visit, or if you want to feel like a Goonie. The cove itself is a beauty to behold, but this is a fun addition to do this tour. Dont forget to take a picture of yourself in profile with Sunny Jim and watch your head if youre tall!

It was $5 to walk down the stair to the very small landing for Sunny Jim Cavern. Still was nice and cool view from down there. Lots of people coming around in kayaks and whatnot so tough to get a clear and clean pic. Narrow passage to the cave. The shop is good for trinkets and refreshments.

The carved cave and wooden steps down to the sea level cave are fascinating. Hold onto the rail as things are damp and slippery. 145 steps down and 145 steps back up. The gift shop looks nice. I believe that the doors opened at 10 a.m. on the Sunday we visited.

Store is great for chicks and knick-knack collectors or a quick souvenir. The stairs down to the came are pretty neat and the view from the cave is cool. Id recommend going early in the AM for the best pictures or youll get washed out pictures closer to sunset.

The main attraction is the amazing cave you can enter. It takes about 150 steps down and up, so if you are not in good shape or cant walk that, its a pass. If you can walk that, its definitely one of the coolest places in the area.

Not that great. We went down the cave and it wasnt that impressive. Pictures didnt come out very well because of the lighting too. But it was cheap, so no big deal. The beach down the road was more enjoyable.
