I officially will never shop at Big 5 again. Let me tell you what happened. I "used" to be a regular at this store. Chris, one of the managers is cool and accommodating. This new assistant manager, Angela is the absolute worst. Zero customer service and I had a run-in with her a few months ago. I asked her if I could speak to Chris and she and her power trip told me he was at lunch and didnt know when he would back. Really!!!! ( He was in the back office) I always get a 10% discount just because I shop there so much. She said, I dont know you!!! She just started working there, of course she doesnt know me. Tonight I go in to shop for a scope and am hoping Chris is there. No such luck. I go to the back counter and wait 5 min and finally have to ask the cashier at the front of the store if there is anybody working the knife counter. The voice form inside the office, "Angela" say, Ill be right out. In the meantime the cashier calls the guy from the shoe section and being that there was nobody back there he was on his way over. The manager calls on the phone and stops the guy for continuing over to help me. I had enough time to walk around the store, ask for the corporate phone number, walk back to the shoe section and ask the guy, Ryan if he had any customers, (his reply, no!) walk around the store again 15 min before the manager, Angela finally comes out to assist. At this point I will never shop there again. I will drive to Oceanside to Dicks sporting before I ever step foot in a big 5 again. The last time I had an issue I contacted corporate and obviously it had no effect. I will do it again, just so, you all dont have to take this type of abuse and ridiculous treatment. Oh, and just for a little more insight, the blinds to the office were cracked so Im sure that she saw it was me. A little retribution for our original encounter. Well, my hard earned money will never cross their counter again. Good job Angela, and good job Big 5 for "not" correcting this behavior the first time I called. Adios!!!!!!

If I could give this place a zero, I would. As Im checking out, the guy at the register asks me if I want to sign up for their email and receive a 10% off coupon. I say "Sure!" And I asked if Id be able to apply it to todays transaction. He said the emails are instant and if I can pull up the barcode on my smart phone, Id be good to go. So I wait. And wait. And wait some more. No email comes through. The manager walks by and then decides to mention that it can take up to two hours for it to come through. They couldnt mention that before I stood there like an idiot for the last 15 minutes? So I decide to return my Nike items because at this point Im frustrated Ive waited so long for no reason. The guy at the register then comments, "Well I said you could use it IF you received the email." Extremely rude and extremely unnecessary. And then the manager mentions the coupon excludes Nike items anyways. What the fox! Wish they would have mentioned THAT before waiting 20 minutes for a coupon that may or may not come in the next two hours that I couldnt even use anyways! So stupid. And when I voiced my frustrations, the manager says, "Well I didnt tell you that the coupon would work." And the guy at the register says "Oh, I told her that." And then the manager just shrugs his shoulders. Like too bad. No big deal. So pissed. Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. Update: 09/07/2016 I spoke with two different customer service representatives concerning this incident. They were super empathetic and apologetic. Jacqueline was the one that handled the case and she seemed real adamant on getting this situation resolved. She spoke with both the cashier and the manager and even offered to send me a gift card as an incentive to give Big 5 another chance.

I came in to buy for a bike helmet.i notice they only had kids helmet so I talked to the cashier then a manager at the register if they had adult helmets they both said yes at the far right corner.i spoked to them stating that tried 9 of them they dont fit.they insisted they have adults helmets I spoked and told them none of their helmets fit me.i dont recommend this Big 5 Sporting goods avoid this store they dont try to help.so I went to the bike store next door its call Performance bike What a difference this nice blonde lady helped me and I bought my self a nice bike helmet.

Small sporting good store but they have just about everything you need. Kind of nice not being spread all over. Prices are great and they are always having sales. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help! The variety is fantastic which you wouldnt think because its a small store. My favorite go-to for all of my outdoor needs.

Didnt have coaching helmets or softball/baseball line up cards, the staff there had no idea if they carried the items I needed or where in the store they might be. The guy that attempted to help me was too busy talking with a female coworker that he yelled my questions across the store to another employee that couldnt help me either.

This place is overwhelming. It feels very small and claustrophobic. Overall the staff are fairly helpful. I feel like the merchandise are not that great and feels cheap. The sale and clearance signs everywhere and distracting. You might get lucky and get a steal or you can just grab something you need.

I love this store for local sporting goods. The prices always seem just right and theres almost always a good coupon available. I do a lot of online shopping and the prices are comparable. So if I want to look at in person and need it in a hurry, I come here.

The usual small selection of golf equipment, but I have found a specific wedge there on two separate occasions. A friend bought me a 64 degree wedge last night while we were there. Staff was invisible unless I needed them.

The staff there suck and have a real attitude. It took me two trips to return something that should have been accepted on the first trip. I would not shop there in the future and advise others not to as well.

used to enjoy going to Big 5.... now it seems dirtier, less well stocked, cheaper stuff, but lousy quality and never seem to have exactly what you want....just a close but worse imitation.

Insane sale the day I went. Got some new kicks for a fair price and it looks like there are food deals in other sporting goods; fishing, hunting, and all the major sporting equipment.
