I was about to order online but needed an item immediately and the website indicated this store had several in Stock, so I left work early in order to drive across town. I searched the store and couldnt find anything. Other staffers said the computers agreed that there was stock, but nobody could find anything. This was a store branded item and they did have similar branded items in Stock, so I asked them to substitute and honor the price... a $10 difference. They said the couldnt. And then the store manager said he couldnt. What kind of retailer wont allow the store manager to adjust a price? Especially when they baited customers into visiting and couldnt fulfill the order? I left my basket on principle and went down the street, finding other retailers wI think whom to spend my money.

I was here for a short time to purchase a pair of body glove 3T max footwear after calling first to verify that they had the item and my size as well. After being informed that they indeed did have the item in question I proceeded to go there that afternoon to make a purchase. When I arrived I was met by an enthusiastic staff member who insured that I got what I came for. As I tried on the footwear I noticed that this shop appeared to cater to the water crowd: from boat parts to paddle boards. Everything in the store appeared to be organized to facilitate quick locating of items that people may want to purchase. The place is fairly nice size with adequate parking.

We went to get a life jacket for our grandson Levi, I waited in the truck and not more than 3-4 minutes past by and my husband and my grandson, were getting into the truck!! I had thought for sure they couldnt find what They wanted. But low and behold, he had a brand new, perfectly fitted , Blue West Marine life jacket in the bag, in less than 5 minutes We were on our way to take our little Levi, fishing on our boat, for his first time boating trip at just 15 months old, and the life jacket we bought for him at West Marine made us feel so safe to take him out in the San Diego Bay, where He did infact catch his very fish,!

To those who believe West Marine it too expensive: ( I once thought that way too.) 1. Find what you want at the Store. Then go "On Line." If it is the same item and less expensive, print it, take it to the store and they will match the price.. and you wont have to wait for the mail to deliver it. I have done just that. 2. They have excellent staff, and if the item costs a few dollars more, its worth it. Get a West Marine card, spend some money and one day, in your mail, you will find a coupon worth $$$$ depending on your purchases.

West marine is where boaters come for those specialty items they cant find it anyplace else. That said, be prepared to pay twice to three times as much for regular items like life preservers, marine ice chests, and clothing then anyplace else on the planet. Example; I wanted to buy a large white marine ice chest for my sailboat. A yeti tundra 250 ice cooler (55" x 22" x 21" holding 155 12 oz cans) costs$899 at West Marine. Found an igloo comparable size and durability for $79 at Home Depot. Just saying!

I have had a Port Supply account for at least 4 years and they decided to change my account from a billing to a cash account without notification. I have always paid on time, but probably do not purchase enough parts. When I called my sales rep and left a message with her and she never returned my call. Bad communication skills, I feel that this company has gotten too big to care about the smaller repair shops like mine.

These idiots have no clue about boat engine parts. I went there for a common gm mercruiser part and they tell me they dont carry mercruiser and to go to dealer down the street. I ask for any alternative and they tell me they dont carry the electrical parts I need. I go home and search on their Web page and there it is, the part I needed. They have a nice store but their staff needs some major training.

I normally try to stray away from corporate stores, but this store is the best. the staff are super awesome (on first name basis with a few). The senior rig shop folks are as competent as other local big names (i.e. Rigworks) with zero attitude and more up-front, honest, cheaper pricing. they have had things that I couldnt find elsewhere, along with hours that work better for my busy schedule. Big fan.

When i first walked in, I thought I was in the wrong place. They had all these clothes and dog stuff. Then I was directed back to where all the boat and mechanical gear was. Pricey, yes. Welcome to san diego. Knowledgeable staff? Definitely. I had some very tricky leaking going on and was steared into some very innovative and helpful options. Thanks Ron! I will be back

This West Marine is one of the Flagship stores: large and well stocked. The feature which distinguishes them is their staff. They are very knowledgeable and always friendly, ready to help. No, I dont own stock or work there! I do leave a lot of my kids inheritance there tho...

After the remodel, 5-stars should be deserved - however, there always are plenty of bodies, but they never migrate up to checkout and never quite seem to know what is going on.

Good place to get marine/boat stuff. Just remember that marine= expensive, but if you want stainless items or other stuff to hold up to saltwater this is a great place to go
