When remodeling our house I thought I found a total gem with Dirt Cheap. Bought fixtures, faucets, paint, joint compound, etc, well over $1k of supplies. About 70% of the materials were totally unusable. I would go to the remodel house, test the products, and if they didnt work I would return them within the 7 days. Thats ok because I knew thats what I was getting into with these prices. Often the lights were void of proper wiring, full of broken glass, or missing a unique piece like a one of a kind bracket to be able to hang them. Or the paints or adhesives were dried out or gummy beyond use. The flooring delaminates faster than you can lay it down. The faucets were sometimes clogged with building materials like cement or would have stripped threads inside so unable to use even with basic repair. So buying anything there was a gamble with the odds often not in your favor. Over four weeks Of our project I was there so frequently. I was a polite and good customer who enjoyed the opportunity to find a good deal. The people at the registers were nice and helpful, as I often came in towards the end of the day after working on the house site until all the contractors would leave. They would laugh with me as I scrambled to collect what I could by 7 pm. And to return the damaged or unusable materials within their time frame. However! One week we had the power and pluming turned off to redo all the piping and wiring to the remodel. I brought 4 things in to Dirt Cheap to be returned that were 10 and 12 days past purchase because I couldnt test them. I realized I was asking for something out of the norm. Please note, I am perfectly ok hearing "no, thats not possible." But, without any precedent or reason, the manager was disgracefully rude and disrespectful to me. He dressed me down in front of other customers like I had done something wrong to ask for this return, even after previously purchasing so much from them. He talked down to me like I was a criminal for asking for the return after 7 days. His tone and manner were neither fit for management nor customer service. I wish I could convey that more here. I am a polite and respectful person and did not engage with him in any way that called for him to speak to me the way he did. I was stunned. I will never give one more penny of my business to this establishment and I will share with others this experience and cease referring them there. This place is in the business of hoping people do not actually return things, or cannot make the brief cut off time, which borders on unethically exploiting people who may not have many resources. While that doesnt exactly apply to us, on principle I will never shop here again and I will refer anyone who needs discount building supplies to BMO, to Builders Supply Lumber, to Habitat Restore, to Waterfront Mission, and to any other organization that is founded on good principles. And embodies them. Ps its also really out of character for me to write a negative review. Thats how bad of a manager this guy was and how bad of an experience he gave me.

Be sure to get plenty of rest, hydrate yourself prior to arriving, bring snacks, stretch really well, allow yourself PLENTY OF TIME, and be prepared to dig and dig through mountains of items to find the ABSOLUTE BEST DEALS consistently under one roof you can find ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE - HANDS DOWN!!!! So glad I was told about this jewel!!!

Hit and miss. Lots of name brand used stuff and even some new for super cheap. Just test before you buy and/or open the boxes and make sure its all there (most of the boxes are already open anyways)
